  • i love it and i believe that what she said!!!!

  • 'Rememeber, eclipse at 5!" Ha I love it:)

  • An "accident can be a woman's best friend." LOVE that.

  • My God, Judy Parfitt owns in this scene! Like a car wreck you can't look away...

  • Remember, eclipse at five!

  • My favourite movie ever. MASTERPIECE. Kathy Bates and Judy Parfitt are fabulous! I adore them.

  • @anteaus71 kathy bates = chuck norris of female actors :)

  • I loved that part "Sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has to hang on to." So true, been there. It does a body good! LOL

  • I think the bank returned the money to her because they broke the rules for Joe

  • @crowleysridgegirl

This was never clear to me. She obviously knew he opened another account because she knew he had "pissed away" $500 when she confronted Joe. But perhaps she was only told about the account and used the information to confront Joe. I am not convinced she got the money back and actually buried it in the yard. Either way, when Joe died, the money would go to her anyway.

  • @HunterWrangler Whatever.He was dead,regardless.Deed done,purpose accomplished.

  • These two women have an incredible chemistry on the screen...what great performances from both!

  • Brilliance.

  • Saw this for the 1st time last night. I love Kathy Bates! :D

  • I sometimes wonder, altho it wasn't shown, did Vera call the bank and help Delores get her 3K back?

  • @crowleysridgegirl She told Delores that her money was "all tied up in cash".. that was your answer. Vera was filthy rich.. you kow she gave Delores whatever she needed to get out of that marriage.

  • @hopemccoy I always took her saying that as a way of saying "Yes I'm rich, but don't ask me for money." At the beginning of Dolores' break down she complains about how Joe stole her money. Vera may have thought Dolores was looking for a hand out...it wasn't until later in the conversation she realized that wasn't the case at all.

  • @HunterWrangler Perhaps it's all in how one interprets that relationship. I believe Vera had suspicions that Delores dealt with a piece of crap husband.. all Vera needed was the opportunity to actually help Delores, when she knew Delores could trust her. Vera was bitter, but very passionate. She needed Delores as much as Delores needed her.

  • Damn, powerful scene.

  • Sadly, being abused is all too common. Totally brilliant book and movie. Kathy Bates is extremely fantastic.

  • oopsy. messed up that post. nevertheless...

  • Vera was NOT 'cold.' it looks as though she has tears in her eyes @ 2:06, 2:25 and 3:00. one issue for me is continuity. Vera puts on her glasses to do her needlepoint (whatever) and she doesn't. it doesn't seem like she 'took them off' but she may have. anywho, this film totally rocks!!

  • @aluddite1 Everything about this scene is brilliant.. I get goosebumps watching it. Vera knows Delores is a tough bitch too. Upon Delores having a meltdown, Vera insists Delores call her by her "christian name", which was a sign that she wants Delores to trust her with anything. Vera does have tears while telling about how husbands die... then a tear falls as she looks down at her needlepoint at the very end of that scene.

  • This is the most depressing movie I have EVER seen in my life. Brilliant? Yeah! Interesting and suspenseful...sure. But depressing as hell...

  • "What turns a stone hard woman like yourself into the blubbering mess i see before me" .....epic

  • An accident, Dolores...can be an unhappy woman's best friend.

    Brilliant. Just brilliant!

  • note to self: never piss off my wife. lol i liked this movie though. it's very underrated.

  • Love this movie :-) i teard up :(

  • This was one of the best books i have ever read! Only Stephen King can create such a masterpiece. I deffinitly agree on recomending both the movie and booms to all who has not heard of it. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Kathy Bates should have won an oscar for this role. very few movies bring me too tears.

  • I recommend the book. It's more creepy.

  • I just read the book. It was absolutely amazing, and I recommend it to everyone. And also, Kathy Bates was perfect for the role.

  • der film ist echt große klasse viel besser als der ganze schrott der zur zeit im kino läuft

  • not exactly how it went

  • Judy Parfitt and Kathy Bates are MARVELLOUS! I love them a lot.

  • Whenever I'm having a bad day, somehow watching this makes it all go away.....LOVE IT!!

  • What is so awesome about Parfitt's portrayal of Vera Donovan, is her remarkable ability to toss her own very British accent and effectively use the accent of a high-bourne American. It's even more fascinating than watching a Brit do a regional American acccent such as was done by Vivien Leigh in Gone With The Wind. It's an amazing feat -- and she seems to do it so effortlessly.

  • As usual, another fantastic british actor steals the scene! Maybe its just me, but always seems like the greatest actors that I have ever seen come out of Australia (Geoffrey Rush) and or the British Isles (Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons, Judy Parfitt, Margaret Lockwood, Albert Finney, Helena Bonham Carter, Peter O'Toole, John Hurt, Alec Guiness) I mean the list just goes on and on!

  • If she could wake up the inner Annie Wilkes she could take care of that dirty birdie quicker!

  • @ProRanting ROFLMAO!!!

  • book is ten times better..

  • Thanks for posting ... and for compiling the very best of Vera Donovan!

  • As good as this movie was there were no Oscar nominations. As well as the actors acted there were no Oscar noms. Go figure.

  • I WASNT ALLOWED TO WATCH THIS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER WHICH JUST MADE ME MORE FASCINATED WITH THE STORY THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCENE

JUDY PARFITT EYES ARE SO BEUTIFUL ALMOST FRIGHTENING

  • i just got finished w/the book what selena's dad did was sick

  • I absolutely love these two scenes with Vera. She's absolutely right sometimes it's the only solution.

  • I LOVE THIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • I feel that Kathy Bates is a beautiful woman in heart and mind.

I have always loved her and wished to meet her in real life.

  • My favorite scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • full movie request? =D

  • Remeber: eclipse at five!

  • @anteaus71 Remember: eclipse at five!

  • Parfitt was robbed of an oscar nomination

  • How do I make this into a Mother's Day card for my evil mother?

  • love that quote sometimes being a bitch is the only thing a women has to hang on to

  • Six pins Dolores. Six pins. The best fucking movie ever.

  • This is such a good movie! Kathy Bates is a fantastic actress!!

  • Great movie & best part! I'm a man and I always thought that "Vera" was a classy beautiful older lady...even if she would've had *me* knocked off *grin*. I've watched this movie over 20 times.

  • wow...this is the best 5 minute synopsis of a movie I ever saw! It tells everything. Well, now I have to read the book after reading others' comments, but awesome!

  • As cold as Vera was, she did care for Dolores and was fond of her.

  • @ifuseekamy She is one of the biggest bitchs EVER in a film EVER! But I think deep down she was a decent person other wise should would not care.

  • @ifuseekamy I doubt by all means she was fond of her...but I do think she eventually to respect her.

  • If the book is in any way like the movie it would make for an interesting read, I love the movie, I like Dolores and Vera.

  • Oh you have to read the book. The relationship between the two women is really amazingly written.

  • I love this movie!!!! No Hunky in the movie for Vera though!:-( For anyone that has not read the book, I won't ruin it for you, but DO read it!! It also explains WHY Vera had two extra eclipse viewers and 2 reflector boxes!! Happy reads, I read it in 2 days, it was that good!!:)

  • So well said Mrs. Vera 04:51 :)

  • Joe fell into the crack and died hahahaaa...

  • OMG, Thank you SOOOO much for this! I've been trying to find this everywhere! I LOVE IT!!! High ridin' bitch indeed!

What's the name of the movie?

    Thanks, again! This is AWESOME!!!!!

  • Dolores Claiborne is the name of this movie.

  • It's a crime that Parfitt wasn't even nominated for any major awards for this; it's one of the great movie-bitch performers of all time, and it's so clear she read the book from cover to cover because she's perfect. You can imagine her perfectly doing all the stunts of Vera from the book.

  • 2:51 ~ lol I think somone is speaking from experience

  • Is it me, or is Judy Parfitt absolutely fabulous?!?

  • @einekleineblonde no,it's me too:)))

  • @einekleineblonde Oh she's a scene stealer alright...and that's saying something when she's opposite Kathy Bates!

  • @einekleineblonde Is not just you. She is fabulous. Why she was not nominated for her work here I'll never know

  • @einekleineblonde Judy Parfitt is a goddess!

  • @einekleineblonde she is great !!!!..

  • @einekleineblonde Those two (Judy Parfitt and Kathy Bates) are incredible actresses! :D

  • @einekleineblonde Judy Parfitt is beyond fabulous in this scene. It's pure brillance. The fullest expression of what great acting is. You should also check out Glenn Close in the remake of "The Lion in Winter." BUTTAH!

  • @einekleineblonde she is!

  • Vera and Dolores. Both priceless in this film.

    "Remember! Eclipse at five!"

  • Go on home Pam and Shelia can clean up....ah Vera

  • I live for Vera!

  • thank you for your answer..very kind of you..may i ask you again? the credits at the end of the film?am i correct? thanks

  • Guys...sometimes you have to be a high riding ass hole to get over and make it in life....somtimes being an ass is all a man has to hold on to

  • oh, ok. i get things mixed up.

  • daaaaaaaa....una película genial....kathy bates es una de las mejores actrices....awesome!!

  • Remember, eclipse at 5! Why they did not get academy awards I will never know. They weren't just acting. The climbed into the skin of those characters and never let go.

  • My favorite quote is the part where she says: "An accident, Delores, can be an unhappy womans' best friend." BEST LINE EVER in a movie.

  • Kathy Bates is an amazing actress! I love her in all her movies.

  • i thought the tag line for stephen kings books ''one from the master of horror'' ment just a tagline, until i read this book and thought, BEST AUTHOR EVER!!!!

  • So we men have our dicks to hold on too?!?! and all you women have is being bitchy?

  • Best part when Vera tells Dolores that sometimes a woman has to be a high riding bitch Love it. And she is so freakin dead serious. That's an excellent actress

  • ...Sometimes doing the fink is the only thing that remains of a woman...

By Stephen King a feminist movie, very well done in comparison between mother & daughter. Great scan a dramatic two level time (past and present) that are interwoven on different shades of colors, important revelations for giving life to the story, beautiful setting in Maine, powerful and fat K. Bates. The best movie of a director impersonal.

  • This is the film Bates should have won the Oscar for not the ludicrous Mysery.

  • wow i didnt know this was a movie, i just bought the book for $3.99 and it's interesting so far.

  • love this movie. The bitch quote is one that I live by. Love these two women. But Kathy Bates is my role model hero.

  • But what does the bitch qoute mean. I am a male, So does it mean I have my Dick to hold on too while all you woman have is being bitchy?

  • This movie was AMAZINGly creepy.

  • They're both amazing actors

  • this movie is wonderful. I love it

In Italy it's called Last Eclypse

  • :0 huh?

  • Stephen King is my favorite author and this is my fave book as his.

I just love all the cool, creepy, subtle stuff in it. It's all believable, which makes it so much better. This is my favorite scene in the movie, too. ^_^

    Bitch power, baby.

  • This movie is so fucking sweet! I love these women.

  • Words to live by! One of my all-time favorite quotes.

  • I love the movie! since i watched it for the very first time..it's one of my all time favorite movies! love the actresses, love their acting love the story..

  • all of my money is tied up in cash. classic.

  • This movie is classic! I loved Bates so much more in this than in Misery.

  • I love those scenes! Best part of the movie (as well as when Selena tells off the prosecutor guy)

  • exactly! lOVED THAT MOVIE!

  • What a briliant actress,, im amazed..brilliant acting

  • Ahhhhh I'm so glad to be a male...Mmmmm Yummy Males...*Sighs*

  • My all time favorite drama movie!

    Genius!

  • "Has he fucked her?" That Vera sure gets to the point, doesn't she?

  • i love Vera's character very harsh and blunt the way a strong woman should be

  • is this movie posted

  • omg !!!!!!!!!this is such a good scene !!

  • "Sometimes you have to be a high riding bitch to survive". HA, I love it!! This is exactly the clip I wanted to see. It pretty much sums up the way I feel right now!

  • I really like Vera in this scene....excellent! I love how she says an accident can be an unhappy woman's best friend! She certainly have Dolores the idea of what to do about Joe! haha!

  • Sometimes being a bitch is all a person like me has to hold on to, i love this scene. Its about taking control of your life. I love it

  • I love how the Vera character reveals herself subtly.

  • porfavor alguien le puede agregar subtitulo

    en castellano

    me encanta esta escena

    100% real

hay veces que tienes que ser una pe...

  • Learn english.

  • great scene, love judy parfitt - she really embodies that character.

  • i worked with kathys sister in a play i did not so long ago

    her sister is awsome

  • bullshit

  • Kathy Bates is an exceptional actress....She is the Best!

  • Kathy Bates was in Misery too. I am currently reading Misery.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is one of 3 of my favorite scenes in the movie. I love the line Vera says "Eclipse at 5! (aka "He dies at 5)" Such an excellent movie!

  • Great movie ... one of my all-time favorites

  • "An accident can be an unhappy woman's best friend."

That's true for the woman Farrah Fawcett played in the movie, "The Burning Bed".

  • MY INSPIRATION!

  • Brilliant, flawless and artistic. The directing, acting, editing, cinematography -- all of it -- are so great that you become convinced the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences was asleep at the wheel when they overlooked this one. Then again, I think three quarters of their job is to overlook the good ones in order to over-promote the popular ones.

  • "Sometimes being a bitch is all a woman has to hold on to." So many good lines in this movie...Kathy Bates best performance!!!!!!

  • Yes it is a good performance by Kathy Bates.. but NO ONE unless they come from Maine should attempt the accent. Even as talented as she is it's a let down and a give-away that she's not really Dolores Claiborne.

Judy Parfitt however masters her American accent beautifully. It's even verging on "Connecticut lockjaw".

  • I wrote that line

  • One the BEST actresses of our time!

  • Such a powerful movie! GREAT actresses!

  • For everyone who has ever been tormented by a bastard, this one is sweet release.

  • Great film, no doubt! An underrated gem!

Very good editing job, Mr. Dufresne.

  • Hmmm my kind of women.

  • Ah, the feminie mystique. Truly, these are words to live by.

One of the very few worthwhile movie adaptations, with strong acting. The Oscar committee wouldn't know good acting if it effed them in the eye. Fortunately, one's own opinion is all that matters.

  • "Sometimes they're driving home from their mistress's apartment..." (voice drops an octave) "... and their brakes fail." These scenes are pitch-perfect. The whole movie grabs you and won't let go. Even the smaller roles are perfectly acted. On youtube you can't see the one teardrop that falls from Vera's eye during that speech. Kathy Bates and Jennifer J. Leigh should have both gotten Oscar noms for this one, IMHO.

  • Don't forget about Judy Parfitt. I really feel this was one of her best performances. I really think she deserved a supporting nod.

  • does anyone know where i can watch this online?? ive looked everywere :/ reply plzz x x x

  • "Sometimes you have to be a high-riding bitch to survive". I love Vera!

  • Sorry.....I developed a sexual fetish for Kathy Bates after seeing her in Misery.....I ALWAYS DUG BIGGER WOMEN....NOT FAT....BUT BIG LUCIOUS BEAUTIES LIKE THE SEXY KATHY BATES.......

  • I love these clips! I saw the movie and just had to read the book. I'm about half way done right now. The movie I think did a good job at keep a lot of the good lines in ("Husbands die everyday Dolores") while shortening it up for the time line of the movie. In the book that quote goes on for half a page, and here's its only a few sentences. But it's an amazing book and movie! Thanks for the clips!

  • vera. i insist that all women who have hysterics in my drawring room call me by my christian name.... terrific

  • " I saw them in New York. I just had to have them." Thankyou very much fro uploading this. I came to you tube today hoping to find it. Youd did a wonderful job editing and putting it together. Bravo, it was great to see again.

  • i luv the saying...'sumtimes being a bitch is sometimes all a woman has to hold on to'. ^_^

  • I don't understand why this movie did not get the recognition it deserves. I saw nothing but brilliant acting in this movie. One of my favorites.

  • I love it!

  • this scene not too short of brilliant

  • This is one of my favourite movies ever.

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • THIS IS SUCH A GREAT CLIP

  • This is unquestionably some of the best acting I have ever seen. An incredibly dark and powerful movie. Kathy Bates is incredible as is Judy Parfitt (Vera).

  • fantastic!!thanks for posting this clip xxxxxxxx
