This is exactly what developing countries need. They do not need our factories and our banking institutions (many of them consisder our banking system a sin in itself, being driven by interest-bearing instruments) but the sort of support that will reach down to the individual level. This is what it means to be human, to value and support one another. That the focus is on women and disabled persons puts the funding where it is most needed. Bravo to all involved.

I'm curious how MMO financial remains afloat? Do they take any interest at all? I imagine the workers need to be paid. Is it government funded? Run by volunteers?

The field workers looked such a nice bunch of people. :) I imagine seeing their faces light up a lot of peoples days.

not sure if MIMO is non - profit, but many mircofinance cos have now turned into profit co's,they have vc's and investors who invest in these co's and the profit made is used to pay the workers like the field officers etc... most of the time almost all of the remaining amount is invested back in the system to reach even more people...but i guess a small portion does go to the investors or else where is the incentive for them to invest significant if not huge amounts into such ventures..
