For all you fucks who doesnt even live in the US who thinks an 335xi cost 100k usd, you're wrong. It costs 40k base model 335xi without options. An a 2011 m3 is about 70k-80k usd. With 100k i rather buy a nissan gtr anyway.
When the E92 335i came out, the E46 M3 was still in production so they purposely understated it's power. The M3 was slightly faster 0-60, but the 335i was actually faster in most roll ons (60-80, etc). Now the E92 M3 is out and the gap is closed again, but the 335i is a solid tuner car. A simple chip and exhaust can push out 390 whp no problem. I would definitely consider one over the M3 because of the price diff. Take that money saved and you can do lots of mods.
if you think about it the 335 produces 308bhp the M3 E92 produces 490bhp
so really the m3 should win the 335 has a 3.5 twin turbo engine and the m3 has a 3.8 twin turbo engine with a load of tweeks done to the engine compared to a M5 this is all bollacks.

The BMW 335is actually has more torque than the M3, but think about it, BMW doesn't make cars for drag races, they make cars for the tracks, which is why the M3 would probably win on Laguna Seca.
They're both nice....the M's race built for the most part. The 335IS is comparable but not really. It's nice, my uncle has a brand new 335IS....the twin turbo helps but it's really not comparable to an M3 though. Look at it this way....now you can pick whatever year M3 you want with the engine specs you want. Straight 6 N/A, V8 N/A or a twin turbo straight 6 next year. They're all nice, you just have your choice now...kinda like the M5's. It's a good thing.

In australia, an m3 is $170k AUD...or $190k USD... the 335i is around $120k aud or $130USD....but you can get a 135i for around $85k aud or $90k USD ....it makes alot of sense to buy a 135i here... the M3 is way overpriced!

Basically, you have 1 smaller turbo for lower RPM range, and a larger turbo for higher range. That straight 6 inline turbo doesn't feel special compared to a v8 in my opinion.
It is great that the 335 is faster than an M3. But you dont just buy an M3 for outright power. CL63 has more for around the same $. It is one the best overall handling cars if not the best that is a decent daily driver. This is from an 335i Xdrive owner with M3 envy! But the 335 is a better family car that is still fun.

Im not sure you can say that the e46 is that much, if at all, better then a 335i. The main limitation of the 335i is the fuel system, once an aftermarket upgrade or alternative to the OEM one is devoloped I'd put the 335i right with the boosted e46. Currently a SC'd e46 would most likely get walked with bolt-ons and a JB4. Not saying that the e46 isnt a great car but i'd say your statement is highly inaccurate.
@evox9256 do your research dude... a true twin turbo engine has two separate turbos that spin up at the same rpm giving an instant boost, where as a Bi-Turbo is technically a single turbo with two turbines one of which spins up at lower rpm the other at higher rpm giving a linear boost (BMW innovative engineering). simple explanation for the simple minded.

Some of you need to do some research before you talk shit about things you have NFC about! The price difference is justifiable M3 has better suspension, total weight ratio 50/50, better engine internals, transmission, chassis, bigger and better engine overall!! The only thing the 335i has going for it is a Bi-Turbo (NOT a true twin turbo) and gas milage to performance ratio only because of the turbo recycling exhaust fumes.

@U2binator Keep in mind the M3's speed-limiter kicks in lower than the IS-F's. and I think in this video the M3 driver slowed down so he wouldn't rear end that truck. That said the IS-F has like 60 more lbs ft trq than the M# and is, overall a higher quality vehicle. It's heavier by a shit ton but I'de take an IS-F over an m3 any day.

@U2binator you just can't say that. it is not everything about cars in 1/4 mile drag race. when it comes to corners, going out of corners, the overall stability of a car... that is when extra $7K - $10K makes sense. besides, it is wrong to think that the consumption of m3 is that much bigger than of 335i. both engines are quite large, the difference is very little and besides when you buy that kinda car... you just don't look for economic consumption. it is just wrong.
My dads got an m3 sedan with the competition package on it.. The sedan is faster than the coupe and has been tested against Mercedes, audi, and a lamborghini and they all said that the m3 handles better and is faster than all cars on a track. With a good driver it can go 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. So go m3 and ya still look at a Ferrari and a BMW that one guy will look at the Ferrari Cause it's a Ferrari. Do it for the handeling and speed on a track you'll choose the m3

The e92 M3, 414 at the crank with a 4L NA Engine..
THE JB3 chip will add roughly 70ish horses to the wheels, on top of the intake, the 335i won because of this.

That V8 sounds is so generic, so many cars have that today, but the sound of a pumped straight 6, you can hear from far away that it is a M3.

@ slikice12 "bi-turbo" is the same as "Sequential Twin Turbo"
Basically, you have 1 smaller turbo for lower RPM range, and a larger turbo for higher range. It helps greatly reduce turbo lag due to the smaller turbo can produce boost much earlier than a super single or twin turbo setup can do. At lower RPM, the smaller turbo spools and produces boost - then when you reach a preset RPM or boost level, a staging valve opens and directs air to turbo 2 (large one) and it now produces the boost for

I'm not a big fan of either car, I much prefer the E46 as I have a 2002 E46 M3 with an HPF Stage 3 turbo kit pushing just under 800rwhp and it suits me just fine.

@slikice12 I wouldnt think anyone would question that an e92m3 is better than a 335i. I think the discrepancy comes in at the e46 m3 and the new 335i. Although the new 335i may seem faster than the e46 m3, i would take the e 46 for the sake of its a built race car, its lighter, stiffer suspension, and more built for that than the 335. i would definitely put my money on an e46 at the track. Plus im jealous of your car >.<

Given the choice i bet the majority would choose an m3 over a 335i any day. When you have to pay for it is when people start picking holes in the m3 over a 335i.
That straight 6 inline turbo doesn't feel special compared to a v8 in my opinion.

It is great that the 335 is faster than an M3. But you dont just buy an M3 for outright power. CL63 has more for around the same $. It is one the best overall handling cars if not the best that is a decent daily driver. This is from an 335i Xdrive owner with M3 envy! But the 335 is a better family car that is still fun.

Im not sure you can say that the e46 is that much, if at all, better then a 335i. The main limitation of the 335i is the fuel system, once an aftermarket upgrade or alternative to the OEM one is devoloped I'd put the 335i right with the boosted e46. Currently a SC'd e46 would most likely get walked with bolt-ons and a JB4. Not saying that the e46 isnt a great car but i'd say your statement is highly inaccurate.

@evox9256 do your research dude... a true twin turbo engine has two separate turbos that spin up at the same rpm giving an instant boost, where as a Bi-Turbo is technically a single turbo with two turbines one of which spins up at lower rpm the other at higher rpm giving a linear boost (BMW innovative engineering). simple explanation for the simple minded.

Some of you need to do some research before you talk shit about things you have NFC about! The price difference is justifiable M3 has better suspension, total weight ratio 50/50, better engine internals, transmission, chassis, bigger and better engine overall!! The only thing the 335i has going for it is a Bi-Turbo (NOT a true twin turbo) and gas milage to performance ratio only because of the turbo recycling exhaust fumes.

Nice, M3 got beat, not sure it makes sense and I doubt I'd spend the extra $7K-$10K on an M3 in light of this video. Spend the extra cash only to get beat by a 335i or 335is and at the cost of worse fuel economy. AGREED... pretty sure a 335 would get noticed.

@U2binator Keep in mind the M3's speed-limiter kicks in lower than the IS-F's. and I think in this video the M3 driver slowed down so he wouldn't rear end that truck. That said the IS-F has like 60 more lbs ft trq than the M# and is, overall a higher quality vehicle. It's heavier by a shit ton but I'de take an IS-F over an m3 any day.

@U2binator you just can't say that. it is not everything about cars in 1/4 mile drag race. when it comes to corners, going out of corners, the overall stability of a car... that is when extra $7K - $10K makes sense. besides, it is wrong to think that the consumption of m3 is that much bigger than of 335i. both engines are quite large, the difference is very little and besides when you buy that kinda car... you just don't look for economic consumption. it is just wrong.

My dads got an m3 sedan with the competition package on it.. The sedan is faster than the coupe and has been tested against Mercedes, audi, and a lamborghini and they all said that the m3 handles better and is faster than all cars on a track. With a good driver it can go 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. So go m3 and ya still look at a Ferrari and a BMW that one guy will look at the Ferrari Cause it's a Ferrari. Do it for the handeling and speed on a track you'll choose the m3

The breaks on any Mustang and suspension are crap, not to mention, get in a bimmer, and listen to road noise then jump into your ford, road noise isnt there in a bimmer. Its called luxury for a reason, headlight move to where you steer, theres much more involved in a car than just speed and handling, but then again, the only semi lux ford ever made and that was a crown vic lol, have fun in your boss, ill take my m3, and valet it, while you get told to park in the back. haha
