Because if the virus can't gain access in the first place in to the servers it has no effect. The windows OS is the portal by which it enters, without that it is completely ineffective.
Outside of that fact, the virus itself was a real wimp. Even people who are on windows are relatively secure.

Again, mouse you fail to understand the sophistication of the Stuxnet virus. It had Windows capability, but its ultimate goal was to target non-internet industrial control systems. In this case Iran's nuclear PLC control systems were targeted, and the Stuxnet virus likely resulted in numerous nuclear centrifuge failures with subsequent radiation leaks at Nantanz and other locations. It may have also resulted in Iran's Busehr nuclear power plant turbines failing suddenly.

"Stuxnet has been found on Siemens software at more than a dozen industrial facilities outside Iran. Since these types of control systems are not normally connected to the Internet, speculation is that the worm was either introduced with a USB drive or that it came from one of the laptops of Russian consultants at the nuclear plant."

When this worm 1st hit the news I checked it all over carefully just to see if my system was vulnerable. I located a list of internet security suites that completely rendered the virus useless. The list was extensive. Most countries in that region use Kaspersky internet security (Russian software) which also renders the worm useless. So I find it difficult to believe that it had much if any impact.

Stuxnet wasn't written for Windows systems but for industrial control programming, likely designed by Siemens These systems are typically separated from the internet or with significant firewalls between the two.

No problem though as this is addressed currently in the pentagon and a new ruleset is being worked on, including the pre emptive use of "mini nukes" ( a "mini nuke" is around 5 times the yield of the Hiroshima explosion).
