Once you start getting into more advanced 2a, you'll likely want less response for better sleeping, but when starting more response = easier loops, as they are tricky unresponsive. As for lubing, it depends on gap size and string length. Wide gaps need a lot of thick lube, but they're still unresponsive, just a little smoother. If you want a tight gap for snappy loops, use less lube for sleeping etc. Just experiment and you'll find what you like.
