  • Haha I'm a huge fan of Redd Kross so I had to check this out and I gotta say it's pretty awesome :)

  • Can this band do wrong? No.

  • @KPizzle1000 Their latest album "Free Time" proves you right! :)

  • yah...that Vesuvius Cafe NYC for sha...THE GRRLS ARE TOUGH, AND THEY ARE NOT AFRAID OF bROOKLYN, THE bRONX &CETERA???

  • The last shot is in NYC for some reason.

  • jeuhj

  • Loves it!

  • Jeanie-ass people in LA???? (Really well done video. Captures their jeanie-ass.)

  • @tony0000 hahaha

  • Lol sure,it'd be an honor.I love Shonen Knife.

  • @exeuroweenie Thank you very much :)

  • Deep.

  • Gimmie Gimmie Sexy music!

  • God I love these guys. They have powerful antidepressant properties without the scary side effects.

  • @exeuroweenie Would you mind if i quoted you on my SK website? I just love that line! :)

  • This song was my first introduction to Shonen Knife. Love it!

  • Yeah, Shonen Knife!

    "Osaka is my favorite town!!"

  • zomg I love this song ^---^

  • There was a good reason why this band influenced, and was influenced, by Nirvana.

  • @ ZOMBIEDOLPHIN8DX thats just hilarious!!!!!

  • at the beginning do they say "dog on bike" or "guys! go bite"?

  • @dagmann1 They are saying "duck on bike" in reference to the funny looking toy that rolls across the screen :)

  • @jeremymccoy - Thank you! I've been trying to figure out what they said for YEARS!! It makes perfect sense, when one thinks about it. :)

  • @Timmybear Hahah I know it took me a bit to figure out what they were saying too. I first saw this video YEARS ago when I was in high school and have loved them ever since :)

  • @jeremymccoy - honest to g-d, I thought they were saying 'dadgum bike'.

  • @Timmybear hahaha that sounds like a viable option to what they were saying too ;P

  • @dagmann1 duck on bike

  • Fucking love this

  • Japanese woman-child rock 'n roll trios are where it's at.

  • Forget about L.A.! After seeing Shonen Knife, I want to go to Osaka!

  • I have to admit, that they're much better than that other Japanese female band called The 5.6.7.8's. Though The 5.6.7.8's song "I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield" isn't too bad.

  • @WoodRatGirl - Yeah, the 5678s version of the Rockateens' "WooHoo" is pretty good but, they arent even close to SK in talent!

  • Wow they sure do a whole lot of covers LOL!!

  • @1Ice1 This wasn't a cover 0.o , Naoko wrote it herself

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm so happy that I discovered it. Hoo-ray-yay-yay-yay!

  • these chicks rock!!

  • These chicks is PUNK ROCK Personified! This is how every video on MTV should be. Totally raw, unfinished, that's what is cool, basement recording style even if you have bank to do better!

  • It's all about having fun you know? These girls are obviously having a lot of fun, and that's real! You can really connect to it, because they are portrayed as real people. That's what punk can be to me. It's not people hiding behind a mask.

  • @n8tehgr8 so well said! SK is my fave band in EVER.....they replaced the Beatles on that pedestal...should tell you something!

  • @jhwueq

They are a superior band--percussion is a little weak but that's ok. Never heard of them until today--heard their cover of "Cherry Bomb" on WMUH 91.7, Muhlenberg College. Their cover is better than the original.

  • @lumpagogo

Their cover of "Cherry Bomb" is good, but I prefer the original myself. To each his own, though.

  • @lumpagogo - A agree with you on Cherry Bomb...as for their percussion, Atsuko got much better later .... then replaced Michie on Bass..... well..... let's just say they are on drummer #4

  • @Shoknifeman and Canadian-Prairies:

Hello gentlemen and "Hello, daddy, hello mum, ch,ch,ch, ch,cherry bum..."!! Rock on--everybodies.

  • @lumpagogo - haha thx ;)

  • Ooh no it's a love triangle!

  • Redd Kross as in the band?

  • @windrix1

Yes, this song is a tribute to them. They also wrote one for White Flag.

  • Redd Kross also did a song called 'Shonen Knife'

  • Shonen Knife understood the US punk ethos far better than about 95% of American punk groups.

    Brilliant!

  • I love the simplicity of Japanese woman-child trios.

  • i heard they gave a monkey toy like the one in the beggining to kurt cobain its in the sliver vid too

  • I adore their chequered dresses and great catchy tune!

  • the band redd kross wrote a song called shonen knife

  • Comment removed

  • @ZOMBIEDOLPHIN8DX :)... Gee, I wonder who they're referring. Probably no coincidence either that Roger Manning of Jellyfish collaborated with Shonen Knife.

  • @ZOMBIEDOLPHIN8DX true...but, I like this one better

  • God, Shonen Knife are so damn adorable and catchy.

  • Of course they're 'for real'--what does that mean?

This is the Japanese aesthetic. It's purty darn weird to my American sensibility, but yeah, it's for real.

  • I was hooked when I heard Banana Chips for the first time. lol

  • For me it was Watching Girl; sadly, there's no video for it :(

  • Actually, there is (I just found it), but, it doesn't come up on the searches....thank gosh for "favorites"

  • Thanks for posting this, I love this song. :)

  • Thanks Kurt

  • Shonen Knife recorded a tribute to Redd Kross because Redd Kross recorded to Shonen Knife.

  • Cool video O_x

  • haha ^^ they have funny clothes :P

  • Atsuko (on drums here) used to design all their "stage outfits" herself :)

    (SK was a family operation)
