  • oh I thought wetfire was something special but looks just like "Jiffy firelighter" which is probably 1/50th the price and comes in massive packs.

  • just tested a "coles" (kmart) version and it didn't like water so well, floats but gets a bit starved of heat

  • a lot of amazon reviews say the wet fire only has about a one year shelf life- then wont light very well if at all

  • @DJControllerC Yep thats why I set some back. I am going to test that theory.

  • just to let u know you can use your wet fire for more than one burn if u dont for get to grab it once u get your tender started

  • subscribed :)

  • UST make some great kit.Good video.

  • Could you show a closeup of the attachment of the straps to the Chainsaw Blade? It would be nice to see how they made that connection secure..

  • "I like the blastmatch because its AWESOME" lol I love these videos

  • Nice vid skippy

  • cooool you can use the bean pods to help stop the bleeding once it cuts you up hahaha

  • like you said, i;ll likely end up injured and use one arm for blast match....so can you demonstrate that saw with one arm....

  • Where can i get it?

  • cool kit man 5* vid \m/ :)

  • Skippy, you are aware that they sell tents & bedding nowdays, no need to be Dan Boone any more, lol

  • Ha ha, I'll walk through cholla cactus before I go near that 'wait-a-minute' brush - I've shed more blood, skin and hair trying to get through that brush than anything else (shin-diggers are a close second).

I like the hand chain-saw - need to have a 'tooth file' for sharpening.

    Great upload.

  • i like this !very helpful stuff!

  • that kind of acacia as strong tea is good for altitude sickness but very very strong if you take a maoi

as far as acacia ants go they love that kind of acacia in specific

its not an acacia with purgatives in it so not good for giardia or worms.

bad way to get rid of parasites anyhow

  • that kind of acacia is psychoactive and maybe best not taken as a tea unless you like that kinda thingG.

acacias in general you can count on being medicinal but what they're good for differs and some may be toxic internally.

that kind of acacia contains chemicals in the same family as MDMA and that the family of drugs takes its name from

anyhow im sure you know but ants like many kinds of acacias. stinging ants but still a food source and good as a disinfectant. not like your harversters there

  • I got the kit, and although it is kind of cool it is not al that brillant. The whistle is not that loud, and takes more effort then a number of other smaller whistles. The chainsaw is GOOD but becareful or you bend the links. The blastmatch seems to finicy but figure if it breaks then I'll just use the rod on its own, which is 3/8" of an inch. I use the box to hold my camera for rafting etc.....

I bought this as a treat prior to a surgary but if I had seen it may not have.

    cheers

  • I just got one of these too. I love the case. In the jungle the humidity will ruin your valuable gear.

The tinder is said to be the best and the rest if the kit is great too.

I like it because it is easy to carry and very useful.

  • Nice, thanks for sharing!

  • I have 12 jets an hour leaving the east coast into the atlantic on one side of my house and 8 coming in an hour on the other side during all the holidays!

  • look at the chem trails in the sky...

  • @jordanrivers1 I noticed the same......hahaha.

    Good eye.

  • the saw rope is pretty cool :D

  • Great Demo on all the items in the SOS kit, Thank you!

  • fuck

  • Great video John ! hey wait a minute !

  • might i suggest some cylindir files for resharpening the sabertooth.

Saw this video in youtube's featured videos, i just subbed, good stuff

  • Great Vid man. I'm from Seattle so I'm used to lush pine forests. I'm starting to get into hiking/camping again. It's good to see that you can still have fun out in the desert area's. I'm in San Diego now. Do you know of any good places to hike with forests and stuff in the San Diego area?

    Thanks again

  • Blastmatch is a fail. They break so easily. Found out even though people are trained they push too hard and bust them. Then it becomes a two hand ordeal. Still technically works though. The tea seems to help giardia, not sure if it was the real deal or I was just recovering.Let the new troop purify the water, but he didnt. We found that over in Afg. the chia tea they drink does the same thing. May be of hydration signifigance, not entirely sure.Point is, those who didnt drink it got sick.

  • massive chemtrails @4:00

  • lol the second plant is a cat claw... you really don't want to mess with them.. I got some scars while I was exploring.. all because it was stucked in my clothes

  • Beware of the blast match the sriker bar on the push button, broke off leaving me with just the rod in a cute little plastic case.Just wanted to let you know.

  • My BlastMatch also failed, but I added a handle to the ferro rod, drilled a hole for a lanyard. I want to buy an order of ferro rods from China and make fire kits for sale.

  • Awesome vid 5/5. That being said and this is just my own personal experience, I've never needed any saw in the desert, bigger than the one on my Leatherman. I can see a definite time savings for shelter building, but never needed one for fire making. Monsoon season, winter, whatever, it's always about tinder. A knife and cotton or Wet Fire is all that I've needed. I'm just not sure about the heavy duty saw thing. I'm talking about the Coke Oven to Hewitt and Lower Sycamore to Sunflower areas.

  • This vid makes the price tag on that survival kit justifiable

  • I like the idea for the saber cut but I've had a lot of chainsaws break on me... however in this instance where I would need the box, that is a damn fine tool. However pulling anything toward you is a bad idea. If a sharp branch stuck you in the eye because you were pulling it... yeah. That striker is damn good.

  • merry christmas

  • you had me scared for a minute, "these will be my last videos..........until after the holidays"

  • Really excellent video man.. Also an excellent production.. Many Thx. 5*

  • I like the survival kit. The saw is one hell of a tool, as is the wet tinder.

  • A flammable oil that is now embedded in your canteen cup? Better burn off your cup. No telling what that stuff might do to you.

  • you have a great merry Christmas and a happy new year as well!!

  • Excellent video. I'm from Chicago and have little knowledge of the Desert. Your videos are very helpful for a city boy like me. Thanks!
