its like the characters of toradora had a mixed-up with their age and personality, ryuji's scary looks got taken by Taiga. he became wimpier than usual but becomes for skillful in other areas. Taiga still badass but now she has the looks to back it up. And Minori is just have her MOE limiter removed.zLOL

The original light novel isn't even by the same author as Toradora. I am certain it's not related plot-wise. However, it's by the same animation studio as Toradora (and Index/Railgun, and Shana, and Honey and Clover, and Nodame Cantabile, and Zero no Tsukaima, and Aoi Hana, and...) so that might help explain the similarities in art style. And voice actors. And also why it looks so awesome.
