I've seen Rush in concert 37 times but not recently. They still look and sound fantastic. Bands now a days should take a lesson in what real music is.
@mysticradio Geddy Lee always uses props because he chooses not to use amplifiers like the guitarist and he doesn't want the stage to be empty :) He sometimes has vending machines and washing machines at shows as well.
Rush is one of the few bands that doesn't leave you wishing you could go back in time and listen to or see how they were in concert 20-30 years ago b/c they lost their spark. Wherever they are in time, they are still the best. They perform these songs as amazingly now as they did back when they first came out. The feeling is still the same. Love you, Rush!!!!
@nutshellinchains Saw them last week - after not having seen them since "Permanent Waves". I must admit to wondering if this was the "Rogaine Tour" - even tried to get out of going and sell my tickets.
they don't have a budget, they are the biggest Canadian band ever, i don't think an Amp company would make a product that Rush, or someone like Rush, couldn't afford
I just realized lots of people are responding to the same question, but the responses arent lined up like replies. So, sorry about rehashing a bit of what was already said
At 1:53, is that Alex or Geddy? It sounds more like Alex on bass than Geddy on the synthesizer. It's a great take on perhaps the best part of the song. I'm a pilot and I listen to this song before EVERY flight. I only wish they would let me listen to it as i'm accelerating down the runway...what a rush (really, no pun intended).
About your question for who is playing which part. Geddy is playing the keyboard solo and Alex is playing the rhythm guitar part. Geddy also has the ability to play bass notes with his feet if necessary on a huge keyboard-like instrument on the floor. I agree it's a GREAT part of the song, I love it
I don't think they're his amps that blow up on him. Hughes & Kettner are very high quality tube amps, they have as much chance to blow up as any other amp, Marshalls included.
The Behringer crap in his rack are to blame, those are awful, I don't know why he bothers with them.
i just saw them last night. they havent lost a step. sorry but they will not play vital signs.. the actual setlist is on wikipedia if you want to ruin the fun.. otherwise you can just wait for the suprises that come.. and trust me... dont leave unless your 200 percent sure they are done.. my buddy left too early and missed three songs.. just letting you know
Awesome. Putting into my favorites. Audio is really good. I know we, my friends and I, paid close to $100 USD each to attend. Hardly think Rush will mind the recording. Just builds a following.
So glad my son got to experience the excellence: the incredible instrumentation and the deep lyrics. Rush is the absolute best rock band of a few generations! :)
AWE AWE AWESOME!!!!!!

The vending machine amp.....awesome, I wonder what happened to his washing machine looking ones???
CavemanJesus4Life 1 year ago
@CavemanJesus4Life Those aren't amps. Those are vending machines haha.
A while back Geddy changed the setup of his bass amps, and afterwards there was a lot of room on stage.
So, they put awesome funny stuff on there, like Vending machines, washing machines, rotisseries. Those sorts of things.

geddy lee plays bass not alex

at 1:53, its a synth solo. alex plays the G, A, B chord progression under it AS well as playing those notes on his midi bass pedals

How does Alex sing/talk so low during the chorus...he sounds like he has a really high voice normally.
agentkro 3 years ago
he's using a vocal processor that lowers the pitch and formant of his voice.
stratdaddy1971 3 years ago
No, Alex is triggering a sample using his foot pedals. Watch his feet.
