Huh, scary memories, the guy on the microphone that almost freaked out was me...8-)

Roel was lucky that he had wide frame rails with nothing underneath,

because he slid & spun on those rails,

after the rear hub broke.

( First biker to get an 1/8mile time going BACKWARDS !!! )

"Cool Roel" lived up to his name,

his wife on startline was quite shook up.

Sadly he never did the 5 on this bike before selling it to Australia,

he still holds the Hockenheim track record though with a 6.1

Hub brike like Piet said. And the bike he is running now (team Zodiac), runs the PM side drive chicane, so no more issues there ;-)

Actually, the hub broke out of the rear wheel, that's what caused the sliding. You can see Roel ends just infront of a cameraman. Roel's first reaction was: "Did you get it?"

We were expirimenting with a different tire and were suffering EXTREMELY tire shakes that event, which at the end cause the LH rim half the break from the center hub.
