@QOTSAPT Maybe, but minardi have used the Ferrari engines way before the takover, the Toro Rosso's still have a Ferrari engine as do the Saubers and, well just look at the results. all midfield and not that close to the podium. Sure they get points, but....
@97ginoVDB No! they didnt, I'll have to remember you that the partnership between Red bull and Toro Rosoo was forbidden at the end of 2008 so the effort was all in the Red Bull for 2009 who had signed Sebastian Vettel. Last season before Red Bull signed a new deal with Renault valid for the new turbo years, they were consistently trying to get an Mercedes deal, Mercedes declined because they have their own team.
@QOTSAPT Ok, i don't understand that paragraph much. "No! they didnt" Who are they? And havn't even mentioned Red Bull so why are you dragging them in this debate? What I am on about is the skill of Vettel being able to take a Minardi with a Ferrari engine (Which Torro Rosso still have) to the top of the field in 2008. Stop typing sentences which have little to do with the original statement.
@97ginoVDB You really dont care about facts. I wasnt expressing my opinion, I was stating that "They" (Minardi) didnt had Ferrari engines until Toro Rosso (Red Bul, in italian) signed a contract in 2007, the contract consisted that Red Bull was dropping Ferrari engines to Toro Rosso, meaning that Toro Rosso was dropping Cosworth. Finnaly in 2008 Toro Rosso had a quicker car than Red Bull especially in high speed tracks because of the Ferrari engine.
@QOTSAPT Minardi did have Ferrari at one point (Check it up before you deny it) so that invalidates your first point, and RBR have had the Renault engine since 2007. Toro Rosso still have Ferrari and RBR still have Renault. Vettel was the main reason why Toro Rosso did well that season, With the help of Adrian Newy. Also, Toro Rosso were running with the 2007 car in 2008 for the first half of the season, and he said did pretty well. And yes, i do care about facts thank you... :D
@97ginoVDB You are stubborn, Minardi had Ferrari engines in 1991 (before me and you were born) and managed two 4th places (irrelevant), and yes RBR has Renault engines since 2007 like ive said before because of the deal they made in the end of 2006 to switch to the champions Renault dropping the Ferrari engines to Toro Rosso which had Cosworth engines in 2006 contract they would regret (IM REAPEATING MYSELF CAUSE YOU DIDNT BOTHER TO READ) MY COMMENT! and yes Vettel trashed Bourdais.
@97ginoVDB I'm not disaggreing but STR2B and 3 were better than the RBR4 they were built both at Milton keynes but with different engines, in 2008 one year after the deal Renault engines stopped being competitive because of engine freeze from Renault, they didnt wanted to spend more money after 2007 year where they spent more than any team and didnt win a single race. In conclusion yes Vettel is a great driver but in 2008 STR had a better car than RBR, so his performance wasnt miraculous.
@QOTSAPT If i wasnt reading your comments my replies woudnt be sensible. Vettel was great but not OMFG. I implied this by saying that Newy designed the car (and you know how good he is at doing that). And you too were being stubborn by saying that Minardi didnt have Ferrari engines at one point at the start of this debate. "and yes Vettel trashed Bourdais", Can we just Agree on this cause i cant be bothered to swamp the uploaders comment box for much longer :S
@QOTSAPT Vettel was good with a Newy designed car where Bourdais wasn't, Toro Rosso and RBR still have the same engine manufacturers (Renault-RBR, Ferrari-Toro Rosso) which would imply that Vettel was the 1st factor in Toro Rosso's most successful year followed by Newy. Now can we just agree on this please? This is getting repititive.
@97ginoVDB Since Vettels arrival? yes.But since 2008 until 2010 Renault was able to retrieve some of the pace still Ferrari engine is quicker than Renault and Mercedes maybe the quickest. And yes Vettel was the biggest factor for Toro Rosso's most successful year. Can you agree that Toro rosso only beat Red bull because of the engine in 08?
