  • I'm desperately waiting for the blu-ray for this.

  • Epic...........

  • For information, it's not in England, it's in France, in Perigord, and precisely in the garden of Marqueyssac. For lhe last duel in the ruins its the castle of Commarque in Dordogne too.

  • Great ending of a great film. Captures perfectly what´ s left when the days of all this "Death or Glory" nonsense are over.

  • Now this is filmmaking at its finest.

  • Uno dei piu' epici e toccanti finali di un'opera d'arte di Scott

  • Simply breathtaking. Many scenes in this film are composed & lighted exactly like old master paintings. Awesome cinematography.

  • Great ending, great film... after this one, 'Alien' and 'Blade runner', Scott should have had the sense of stopping and avoid whoring his talents. I still have a bit of respect for him, but barely... better to start as a hack than spend years dutifully working to completely destroy your well earned reputation.

  • Just listen to how the music counters the sounds of nature (wind, seagulls, rain); the shots of him on the bluff (with the valley below) are breathtaking. And that last shot of Feraud's face tells the story of the whole film; without his fight with D'Hubert, he's an empty shell of a man. Wow.

  • @seattlejohn01

    100% agree.... ^_^

  • @seattlejohn01 not only that, I think its a perfect encapsulation of a whole era, napoleon's, and its ending, and perhaps the end of honour as a main ideal for europeans. It was truly the end of a system of beliefs under which men like feraud built their lives. Man, where was left behind that ridley scott who could make movies like this? its bizarre to think that the man who made this work of art also made such vomit-inducing films as gladiator or kingsom of heaven

  • @seattlejohn01 You've just made my nipples hard, sir.....Well said.

  • @seattlejohn01

    Love this...........

  • UNBELIEVABLE; this scene is absolutely exquisite. The film is 33+ years old, and is still amazing. Breathtaking cinematography, great story, superb acting. And a film genius directing. It still amazes me that this is Ridley Scott's first film as director; I have yet to see a film as visually stunning and attention grabbing as this one. You can't do much better than this.

Without a doubt, my favorite film of all time.

  • gotta, say this movie speaks words about a director considering this was his first film. My second favorite scott film

  • @KINGofGUNS Scott did cut his teeth so to speak making adverts though didn't he. But I agree, his early films are his very best.

  • Where is that beautiful place?

  • @danjelito Most of the film was shot on location in France, but I believe this scene was shot in England.

  • Comment removed

  • @danjelito Dramatic cloud formations are a pretty common sight in England, due to it's location and the fact that it's an Island. The work of landscape painter John Constable captures this natural phenomena in many of his works.

  • Gorgeous photography.

  • best director of all times for my money

  • Superbe !

    Symbole du crépuscule de Napoléon

  • Wonderful

  • porque no suben toda la peli???

  • gran final, con un hermoso paisaje.

  • The best example of "dolly zoom" so far. Napoleon in exile... Thank you for posting.
