This doesn't portray Fawkes correctly. He didn't dangle. He JUMPED when they put the noose on. So as to not give the crown the satisfaction of torture like with Wallace in Braveheart. England had its freedom. And its freedom that *is* the whole idea.
what ever your opinion is on guy fawkes there's no denying that he was a clever bugger.
i read that in order to give himself a quicker death he jumped from the top of gallows early to the surprise of everyone there so he could break his own neck and not have to painfully choke. either religious activist or treasonous mad man, he was still very clever.
@Kraytsfollower : That's right, he did, as a final act of defiance. Its a pity the producers didn't seem to know this fact, because it would have fitted perfectly into the spirit of the film.
The movie is magnificent, but this sequence is historically inaccurate. Fawkes was sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered - but he jumped off the scaffold and broke his neck to avoid the gruesome disembowelment.
That aside, I so want to see the ending of this movie brought to life!
@micmac41 Okay... you go do that in your little imaginary world. Guy Fawkes was just a member of a group of English-Catholic terrorists that wanted to kill King James I, members of Parliament, and innocent people for no reason. Sounds like a real "hero" to me. Idiot.
@rokkolpo What is not however subjective to anyone's personal interpretation or moral code is what the term "terrorist" implies about someone in today's modern world. It implies that the person is terrible and vile and has intentions that are evil in every way. That, however, was not true about Guy Fawkes. Thus, you must either redefine the term 'terrorist' in our modern vocabulary into something not exclusively evil, or simply label Guy Fawkes as something else: A revolutionary, perhaps.
@rokkolpo i agree. There's an old saying that goes "one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter". Their methods may be abhorent but behind them is most of the time just another man doing what he thinks is right. The real evil is the people who use their religions rules and scriptures for their own ends and to justify their hatred against other men.
Remember, remember the Fifth of November, The Gunpowder Treason and Plot, I see no reason Why the Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot. Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent To blow up the King and Parli'ment. Three-score barrels of powder below To prove old England's overthrow; By God's providence he was catch'd With a dark lantern and burning match.
Remember remember, 11 September, that Thomas Percy forgot. He lost his head, and now he's dead, in Gunpowder treason Plot. His offspring begot, Barbara Pierce is not hot, and George W eats his own snot. - PirateNews
No. It should be: Remember remember the 11th of September, the airplane crashing plot, I know of no reason why the airplane crashing plot should ever have been forgot. But what of the man, I know his name was George W. Bush, and in 2003 he attempted to use the deaths of 3,000 as and excuse for blood for oil.
@YayPinkie well, those are pussies who talk shit behind a comp, & those who going to do something about it...like start with the take out the military, with force!
Well V would have to be a mastermind and genius outsmarting the goverment in everyway possible and exceeding the strength of a normal human.which he already is but the goverment has to be pretty damn dumb to have 1 person start a rebellion against a fascist goverment who has total control over their country and what they are doing.
someone tried to blow up the parliament but 1 of his comarades had a relative in the parliament and told him that on the fifth of november he shall not go there. because on that day something big was suposed to happen the security was high and they found out about the plot so they arrested the man that was suposed to light the gunpowder. this all was suposed to happen because the parliament should be for the people anb by the people but no one in there gives a fuck about us
none of us need a v not america or england for a v would die quickly in either area
wat we both need , but i agree england more than america, is a large amount of people like v to finaly stand up against our governments & make things right for they cant kill all of us and if thy do tht would lead to more people bing maddder at them and larger groups of people will come and they will need to stop at some point or the whole country would b dead.
and the 2 countries need to do it at the same time
YES! Because parliament sucks, and they have an atrocious record of taking away the rights of English citizens. It happened then and it's happening again now.
.....We don't kinda need a V....WE NEED A V! We need someone that sees through the government and has the guts to confront them alone! And we need to join that person in fighting for what is right rather than sit around and wait for this all to pass....So where ever that "V" is.....come out and lead us
Please! England needs a V more than america does. The Government and the media there is by far 10x more corrupt. They have denied the basic right of letting their own Citizens defend themselvs. They have also stolen their firearms and given them NO compensation and what they have now is a soaring and constantly rising crime rate and an ever more corrupt government.
doesn't it kind of resembles our own country. the country where our greatest president of all time have created almost identical situations for its own citizen to go into the war. and every time there have been anyone to stand up and speak, there have been some sort of push to shut him down.
It's got absolutely nothing to do with race or region. It's about totalitarianism, dictatorships, the unjust oppression of freedom. Watch it again, but use your brain this time.
i remember remember that 5th november. my butt-hole, my hole was veeeeerry chaped so i put some chap stick round the rims of my hole...... i know of no reason my hole should be forgot?

for that solely he was a terrorist, if he was right or wrong is subjective.

@Campioni4del4mondo a terrorist is definitly not Evil by definition.
they usually follow their beliefs as best as they can, and that being incredibly is not with evil intentions. still awful though. but not evil.
