@frank51105 The clear GLOSS paint keeps the surface wet. The fire is for faster drying technique that you may eventually try if you are selling and under the gun to get it done. Advice? Watch this guys videos as well as Brandon McConnell and spraycasso. Arturo is a bit slow in the teaching process but I have learned a LOT from him and his videos are free. BM charges for his lessons if you get them on dvd. Practice and don't be afraid to try new things. The more detail the better.

@Mysticmorris and @XxDeathxX711 and @ mbajak84 i got the same problem with magazine... the black color is already dried to half, even if im hurrying... do you use some retarder or glue or sth like that? what do you spray @13:13 ? I think there has to be something ;) im using glossy paper aswell as montana gold artist cans... i hope you can help me :)
@MrNikonson, maybe you arent spraying enough paint. try a thicker coat. i use the pink dot caps for high coverage. You want it to look properly wet when applying the maga\zine

@MrNikonson, i use Montana Black often which is matt finnish and its usually fine. In this vid the magazine is left on for ages, try taking it away soon as possible or straight away even. I sometimes reapply the magazine a second time to take off more black.
@MrNikonson Don't be afraid to rewet everything with clear. You gotta stay wet to work this stuff! Must use glossy paper,... poster board is even better. The best I found is actually at Dollar General,... 2 or 3 for $1. I rarely use newspaper but use magazines. Unlimited supply at the recycle center!! I've done glass, mirror, plexiglass, poster board, hard board (but you GOTTA prime it first!). Doing my tailgate tomorrow!

i typically use standard glossy poster board to paint on. however this is probably not the best choice for other types of paint like acrylic or water color...you may want to check with someone at your local art store and see what they prefer for different types of paint

hey, first of, awsome job! really great! i'm also trying to do this art, but your paint seems to stay wet way longer than mine... what kind of paint is it you use? is it for cars, or is it graffiti paint?
Try to use a clear gloss if your paint needs rewetting...it will saturate the paints underneath...you see him do it a few times if you watch closely when he is working on the rock textures around the perimeter...hope this helps...Peace from USA

regular gloss poster board works great...i recommend cutting it in half...also try to find cheep generic paint to start with...you'll usually need more black and white than other colors...
...also there may be a "Better looking" part of the texture for the planet, and if gives you a choice of what texture looks best. And when you put the black to shadow the planet, you have more options for the final transition..like how much shadow you want on the planet, etc...I dont think most of these artists just like wasting the paint, paint costs money, and would defeat the purpose of selling them for a living. :-)
ive always been a little anoyed by how they use spraypaint on the whole paper to make a planet and its really small oO doesnt that waste a lot of paint in the end? anyway this piece is amazing 8D
Steph, from what I have been learning, the "Exsesive Paint" for a small planet, is not just for the planet. It is also used as a top or under color for other parts of the effects/techniques on the rest of the painting. :-)

@XxDeathxX711, you need something stronger and glossier - like magazine pages. Newspaper is too weak and will just rip and stick etc.

...also there may be a "Better looking" part of the texture for the planet, and if gives you a choice of what texture looks best. And when you put the black to shadow the planet, you have more options for the final transition..like how much shadow you want on the planet, etc...I dont think most of these artists just like wasting the paint, paint costs money, and would defeat the purpose of selling them for a living. :-)

about 2.15 in.... what did you spray right before the tree, clear coat? and what's the purpose.

clear coat keeps the paint wet so he can scrape it away and he uses a palette knife

ive always been a little anoyed by how they use spraypaint on the whole paper to make a planet and its really small oO doesnt that waste a lot of paint in the end? anyway this piece is amazing 8D

Steph, from what I have been learning, the "Exsesive Paint" for a small planet, is not just for the planet. It is also used as a top or under color for other parts of the effects/techniques on the rest of the painting. :-)
