My cat was found in a gutter as a kitten. She lives in our yard now and is very happy because she can hunt and do all those instinctive things cats do, but also has lots of love and food. Of course, she is fixed so she doesent go off tho have kittens. Great Vid :)
My dad has a cat born to a totally feral mother. He was bringing food for the mother, and the kittens too as they started eating. but he couldnt get near them. Out of the litter all stayed feral except for one kitten decided to start following him around at about 2 or 3 months old. finally the rest of her family all left and this one kitten stayed with him. I have never known any animal as loving and loyal as she is to my dad. there must have been something different in her personality
Not all "friendly ferals" are previously indoor abandoned cats. There are cats I've seen born into the "wild," and develop friendly personalities to people.
I also don't believe those who say friendly cats are likely to get themselves hurt because they walk into "bad" people. People who abuse random cats are few and far in between. I've seen many friendly ferals where I've worked, and these friendly cats tend to be healthiest among the colony, because some people feed friendly cats.
8 months later, she became a permanent part of our kitty clan...I'd found one of her kittens alone in the middle of the garage round back...dunno if she was moving them or what, but I knew if I did'nt take it in the chances of it surviving were basically nil. She did put up a fight, but I was't about to let that kitten share the same fate as the others she'd had in the past. Later on that evening, she followed me round as I did laundry, talking all the while...
...she even let me pet her for the first time....it was as if she knew we were helping her kitten and was telling us thank you. She began visiting us on our patio, becoming very affectionate and not at all vicious..one day she appeared on the patio and cried for three days to let her in, and well...the rest is history. She is the most loving and affectionate of kitties, very smart,an absolute cuddlemonster...she adores us and we adore her to no end...she's our baby & will be til she dies.
aaww...i read your comments what seemed to b a very very moving story...i cried when i read it ..lol...its such a kind humane thing you did for that cat...poor kitty...its discusting just SICKENING to me how ANYONE in there right mind would want to abandon a little baby kitten shame on the prev owners. And even worse are all those monsters ill treating the poor creature, its really sadening that some people would stoop so very very low and b so cruel they r dispicable shame on them too........
....it just makes me so angry and its so sadnning that such...cats are such beauteful amazing gracefull creatures they r worthy of ALOT more than all those sadistic cowards out there who take sickly pleasure in mistreating such precious animals......bless your heart...i just wish there were more people like you in this world who know that animal's lives and welfare are just as important as human's.....keep it up and i wish every happiness for Opala...God knows she deserves it...
Yeah, she's pretty amazing..she's what my husband calls a miracle kitty. When she came to live with us, we figured that she'd let us pet her and in general tolerate our presence but other than that probably would never let us pick her up and take the liberties we do with our other cats. She'd been thru so much that it was highly unlikely she'd ever completely trust any humans, but boy, did she prove us wrong!
At first, we couldn't pick her up or cuddle her...she startled easily, would follow me so closely round the house it was next to impossible not to trip over her. She also suffered from separation anxiety...whenever she lost sight of me, she'd start to cry and would do this until I was back in her line of sight. We did'nt push her...we respected her boundaries and had no illusions about her ever really becoming as affectionate with us as our other furballs were..if she was happy, so were we.
Imagine our surprise when she jumped up to the arm of the chair I was sitting on and headbutted me, begging to be petted. Not one to refuse a request, I petted her and she started purring so loud my husband could hear her from the other side of the room. This was about a month after and from that moment on, she's been more affectionate and loving that we'd ever hoped was possible. At the moment, she's snoozing on the bed with the rest of the kitty clan, purring in her sleep...how cute is that??
aaww...lol..thats so lovely....im so glad its a happy ending or rather begining 4 her, i cant imagine how long she hasnt been shown any affection and kindness no wonder she was in such a state. But i hope shes fully recovered now and put everything negative behind her. Shes a real fighter and its all thanks to you. Shes one lucky kitty to have an owner like you. ^^ xx
She's doing amazing well and boy, is she SPOILED! She wakes me up every morning at 7AM by sticking her nose in my ear and purring as loud as she can... God forbid if I'm late serving her Majesty breakfast! She plays with her toys and chases the others around like she was a two month old kitten, she's nuts about catnip and adores her Temptations treats...she sleeps on top of my feet every night and she butts me with her head if I dare ignore her...simply put, she's got us wrapped around her paw!
^^ LOL...thats adorable...ishe sounds like a lettle character! : ) But its so good to hear that shes being treated properly. And shes really come through hasnt she? A cat like her defenetly deserves to be spoiled like a queen..! lol
I browsed through your channel and your dont seem to have any videos of her, id love to see this little madam! lol
Our Opala was abandoned by her owners at just 8 weeks old..by the time she "adopted" us she was nearly three years old and so wild that alot of the residents in our building were afraid of her...she had only one eye, supposedly lost in a fight with a possum, she would growl or hiss at anyone that came too close and woa be the unlucky slob that actually tried to pet her. She had no love for people as she'd been chased by kids on their bikes, had rocks thrown at her, sticks poked at her.....
had adults trying to run her over with their cars...you name it, it's happened to her. Every cruelty you could imagine. Scrawny, unkempt and mean as hell, I fell for her on sight....don't ask me why, but I knew in my gut that she'd eventually become a part of our lives. Guess she must've sensed it too, cos when I started feeding her and the rest of her "clan" she immediately began to seek me out when she saw me, meowing and walking up to me as if she knew I meant no harm.

It depends on their age I have scratches from ferals that are tame on the street but hate being indoors. the younger the feral kitten/cat the better.
