  • @DIECASTER I'd prefer not to spook off the animals for miles around.

  • Pablo, I truly like your videos. Thank you for sharing. Please make more videos like this.

  • gatta say, i love maxpedition

  • Dear Pablo,

    Wonderfull video, as always.

I was wondering about the EKA w11, you mentionned a friend of yours had convexed it.

A bit of a technical question for you: was he able to reverse the grind and make the actual grind of the blade from hollow to convex, or is the edge simply convex to go with the hollow grind?

I'm looking into EKA's and would appreciate your thoughts.

    Cheers!

  • The EKA was originally a hollow ground. Chris ground a bit of the flat off as well as the hollow grind on a slack belt. This turned it into a convex grind. None of the original hollow grind remains. ie it was grind reversal. Chris said it would be about £10 to do this.

  • Dear pablo,

    Happy new year!

Just wondering if I could get a bit more info: I've always been told that reversing a hollow grind would reduce the width of the blade as you'd have to take away too much metal.

DId you lose any in the width of the blade?

You must have obtained a very thin edge, how did the 12 c 27 hold it?

I've convexed the edge on my w11, but the hollow grind remains....

    Your input much appreciated.

  • Yes it is a bit thinner but it's holding up very well. I did not convex the edge it was done by a knife-maker so it's better than if I had done it!!

  • like the kit! Looks like a lot of stuff, but I know its always better to have more than be in need! Well put together

  • Well done Pablo 5*

  • Pablo you are correct about the Tilly. The holes are too big to keep the flies out. Never thought about it until now. I have a head net I keep tucked in the little pouch inside the hat. When the bugs come out so does the head net over the hat. Not that I am expecting you to switch. Yours looks great also.

  • Nice walk through Pablo, Hope your travels are going well, looks like a wonderful trip.

  • great stuff pabs,

hope you enjoyed it over there, takes me back to those excersise tours i did in kenya, the heat is the worst thing!

    great stuff!!

  • Thank for sharing, Pablo! I also carry Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) not just on my trekking packs, but as part of my EDC (Every Day Carry). I'm prone to very bad headaches, so the sooner you can medicate them, the less severe they will be and the sooner they will be over. Have you ever considered a Steripen? I carry one in my trekking packs for water sanitation and they work the trick! From creek to cup in 45 seconds per 16 oz or 90 seconds per 32 oz.. 5 *'s!
