  • Thank you so much for this review. I bought this product because the color is just so beautiful but I was kinda on the fence about it once I got home because I was having issues with application. If this is gonna cost $20, it should have better quality. Think I'll return it--thanks for saving me money! lol

  • im sorry you wasted your time but im sure u had fun lol

  • I agree with everything you said I love MAC but I hate this product

  • I actually bought one of these in red hot copper before seeing reviews and used it with my udpp, then set my udpp with translucent powder as I always do, then out the shadow on with a dense brush and it did not crease anymore than other non-cream shadows would on my oily eyelids, I quite like it actually.[: Can work differently for everyone I see!.

  • I bought some from the last metal-x shadows collection and I havent had any problems. I wonder if these are formulated differently. It was really smooth. I use UDPP or Paint Pot. I use a sephora brush with a shape thats similar to a MAC 252. I could probably use my finger but its a really dark color so I prefer not to.

  • or maby not those eyeshawdos but I am going to buy lipstick and mac powder

  • really want to try them but we dont have mac here i live so its hard to get it but when I am traveling I am going to buy them

  • I didn't have any issues with any of these I even used them on many shoots and on New Years. You have to understand that MAC originally was created for professional artist and you may need to work different ways with products because they are multi purpose. People that do review often are not trained to use the products they just love makeup so they are not the end all be all. Learn for yourself. Everyone post on here where the people actually used the product liked it.

  • The shadow lasted me an entire day without any base, i even used it as a base itself and it lasted beautifully, I'm not certain if its because of different skin types but i'm definitely in love with these shadows, i bought Fusion Gold and maybe its just my asian lids and a almost non-existential double-eye lid, the product hardly creased on my eyes.

  • I was gunna buy one! Thanks for the revieww:)

  • 2 minutes for cream eye shadow to dry?

  • I bought one of these the other day and applied it over top of Too Faced shadow insurance then lightly applied all that glitters over the metal x (shade I got was rusty). It lasted ALL day for me. After washing my face and getting it wet, the metal x had only faded slightly.

  • I saw this review right after I bought Gold Carbon and I was seriously disappointed. The girl at the counter was raving about how much she loved these shadows. I decided to try it before I returned it and I didn't have the same prob you did. I applied it with a 217 and urban decay's primer potion. It didn't crease on me, I even fell asleep with it on (Ooops!). Maybe I'm just lucky? but I'm def gonna keep my eye on it before purchasing any more. Thanks for the review, I def appreciate the info!

  • I guess MAC did us all a favor, saving us money by producing a crap product. I'll save my cash for the Naturalize Collection, which looks really pretty.

  • Hey maybe the ''threading'' pattern in the shadows is a warning for creasing!

  • WOW!!! This is just unbelievable, what is happening to macs quality??? Thank u for saving me from wasting $20.00 plus dollars from my Christmas gift money on this. Your honesty is greatly appreciated!!!!

  • Great review. Disappointing that MAC haven't reformulated this product, definitely a product i wont be purchasing.

  • Every time when a new MAC collection came out, I would always be there to purchase a few items. Since I discovered your channel, I have been more aware of the products and not buy things that will disappoint me. I as a consumer appreciate all the hard work into review this collections. Thanks : D

  • Haha had the mac girl at the mall put on me the shimmery white metal-x cream shadow while at the counter and by the time I walked upstairs to sephora (5 min) and looked in the mirrior it had already creased so horrifically it looked like 20 hour old eyes!!!!!

  • you put so much effort into these videos, thank you!

  • thank you for being honest. we really appreciated it.

  • very informative. thank you!!!

  • Thanks for the thorough review.

  • I love your reviews because you're always so honest. :D

  • This was just not a great year for Mac at all, after Semi Precious...the greatness of their products just went down.

  • So using a powder base or creme base wont help with these? Crap. O well its bound to happen cremes do not go well with body heat, and sense our eyelids produces heat its just gonna get messy. Dont know why they bother to make these, creme eyeshadows are just pointless! You cant do anything with them. So all mac did was release a unusable product. wow!

  • what a great review! thx! xx would luv to see more review like this one!

  • Wow that stuff is crap.

  • you talk so much at the beginning of videos... we just want to know how the shadows are

  • @beehopkey11 There's a progress bar for a reason. You can move it to skip forward in the video. If you can take the time to make a pointless comment like this, you can probably take time to listen to what she has to say, or at least move your cursor forward a few centimeters.

  • gracias muchas gracias

  • thanks for this review we're in depth of you . Because these are really look good at pan and even swatches :) thanks for saving my money .take care

  • mac should stop releasing a thousand crappy collections and focus on just a few that are quality. Thanks for the review :)

  • Ur awesome n so honest .. Wat a disappointment m.a.c

  • Wow. These. Are. Terrible.

  • Thank you for this review - you saved me money that I can spend on more colors of MAC products that I already know work well. Thanks so much!

  • Very helpful... I won't be getting any of these... thanks for saving me $40 - $60.

  • Fantastic review as always. Clear, concise and beautifully photographed. Thank you so much.

  • Almost three minutes in... I love the way you say "you could just use a spoon!" as if to say "Why am I telling you about spatulas so much? Just use whatever you want!" :) Great review! Love how many different option you tried to get these guys to work better.

  • Wow... These are crappy. Thanks a million for saving me a ton of money...

  • i just feel like you shouldn't have to try so hard to make it work. just spend the extra money and get a cream shadow from chanel of MUFE. with those, all you have to do is put it on alone and it'll last all day like it's advertised. mac just craps all these products out.

  • @lilyfleur7 You definitely shouldn't have to! :)

  • Comment removed

  • I so envy you of your makeup collection!!

  • effectivement c'est assez décevant pour une si grande marque reconnue de tous

  • Thank you for doing such a thorough review. I wasn't going to buy them anyway after seeing your blog post and some other reviews, but I'm glad you showed just how poorly they wear no matter how they're applied. Really disappointing quality from MAC. I'd expect better from drugstore makeup.

  • Wow what a waste of money. MAC come on don't do this!!!

  • These are awful! Shame on MAC!

  • thanks for sharing this with us! definitely not gonna buy them unless they work like paint pots!

  • my Venetian Tarnish is going back to mac pro tomorrow.

  • these are best applied with fingers.

  • @acestarone Yes, I agree!

  • This seems like way too much work when there's millions of alternatives out there. In today's day in age when women are working jobs, going to school, raising families, why bother creating a product that is essentially made to self destruct in an an hour or so? It's a bit ridiculous.

  • here is the problem...MAC wants to release 3940940982048 million special edition products in a year. So now and then they release crap products =/

  • I love your reviews, they are always so clear, honest and to the point...best reviews on YT imho. Thank you for saving me money as I love cream products and would have purchased but will definitely stear clear of these after seeing how they perform. You are the best!!

  • shame they suck, theyre so pretty

  • Thanxs so much for the honest review!!! I love getting pieces from the different collections but this is definately something I'm gonna pass on!!!! xoxoxo

  • Venetian tarnish looked so nice at 2 minutes :( doesn't even last 15 minutes! so the only way to make this work is to smother other products on top? useless!

  • @Skyebright1 You could try a translucent powder, though I do find it mutes it a bit - both in the color and finish!

  • @Skyebright1 i purchased the Venetian tarnish today from mac pro. that was the only one I thought was worth it. now i am not sure if i will keep it.

  • Hey this reminded me of this asian cream eyeshadow i bought a year ago. same story as those. but what i did was mattifying primer, mattifying power, eyelid primer, the cream, and then eyeshadow... if was a lot of work but at least i made it work.. thought you might be intersted :)

  • I was pretty much turned off from these after watching your previous vid, but after reading your blog & seeing this vid, I wouldn't take these if MAC was giving them away! Such a disappointment!

  • I have the exact same purple colour as you from when they first released these and also the blue one aswell which I forgot the name of. they were so hard to work with so I just left them aside and while cleaning out my makeup I saw them, I tried to swatch them but they are hard as rock now since they must've dried out. Do the ones you got back then do the same?? xx

  • @kllee1309 I could only find one of the two I originally bought (the purple), but the texture is actually about the same as these ones. Definitely not dried out yet though!

  • Thank you so much everyone! It is my pleasure to do a review for you, and definitely let me know if you'd like a separate follow-up review video to accompany the first impressions/swatching videos! :) Happy holidays!!

  • I love your honesty!! You rock!

  • I don't get why MAC wastes time and money making crappy products....shows how much they care for their customers..

  • @NaturallyMe91 They've put out so many amazing products over the years; they have an enormous catalog of products and shades they could pull to create collections people would practically kill for. Why they don't, I couldn't tell you!

  • @NaturallyMe91 EXACTLY I kind of wanna delete my youtube because I have their name in my username.....lol and another thing that bothering me they are constantly raising prices....and making eyeshadows less pigmented

  • THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH YOU ARE THE BEST

  • ick!! won't be purchasing!! thanks for the review!! :) x

  • Essentially, this is a paint pot in eyeshadow packaging since you had to add powder to set it. SMH! I am so happy for these reviews in addition to the fact that I am skeptical of these random and much too MAC promos.

  • @MajorMovieStar Paint pots actually last on my lids without setting, though I tend to use them as bases rather than alone (it's hard to stop at just one product, haha!) - so they're worse!

  • Thank you! FINALLY SOMEONE HAS THE COURAGE TO FACE THE most powerful brands!

  • i appreciate this honest review and also the photographic timeline of the product in action. i would have gotten sucked in by the swatching, etc. : )

  • Thanks for your dedicated review!! I hope many people see your review so they don't go out and buy those thinking they get a non-creasing base.

  • @Adoriakashite No prob!! I just want to set the right expectations! If people are willing to put in the work for it, want the creased look, or at least know that there's a good probability of it creasing, it's all good - but I know that's not really the expectations set by marketing!

  • Christine, I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you. Thank you for making these videos. You have no idea how much money you have saved me!

Merry Christmas & have a great new year!!

  • Whoa! I almost bought these about a week ago... I'm so glad I didn't!

Thanks from Finland (where MAC is even more expensive) <3

  • Thanks for this video and thanks for speaking up about products that just don't work!!! I hope MAC listens!!! I am a huge MAC fan...but I'm so tired of the crap products they have come out with this season! Eye shadows that are poorly pigmented and now THESE! Why does MAC not give us some of their products and colors that are so loved? I would love to spend my money on some of the limited edition colors that are so loved but haven't been released in years...not wasting my money on these!!

  • I'm so glad I got a chance to see ur review! I really trust ur opinion because of past experience. Ur recommendations always work out so well for me. Do u have nemore info on the collection coming out after xmas? I really wanna pick up sum new MAC goodies since I skipped the hoilday ones so i could buy more xmas gifts. Thanks christine!!

  • @avie1001 MAC Naturally and Iris Apfel both come out on January 5th!

  • This is so disappointing mac lately have not been up to scratch with their collections like you said they had long enough to reformulate this product and if they couldn't better it they should of not released it!

  • This is why I'd rather go for something less known or even more expensive, certain brands can be sooo disappointing.

  • I can feel your disappointment. Thx for your honest opinion. I love MAC but have also not been impressed with their recent releases. It is so arrogant of them to think that customers willl appreciate such crap.

  • @gail826 The worst part is just knowing people will see how pretty they are in-stores, right after Christmas, and pay $20 and I just think more will be disappointed :(

  • I think its ok if you intend on wanting creasing, but if you are not its clearly a waste, it would be cool if you don't have oily lids and you can wear it without too much creasing but if folks who don't suffer creasing still get it, its a bit of a waste, especially if you use a paint pot or primer and it creases as well. I won't be buying one of those

  • @jjzanice They should call them Metal Line or Crease-x or smoething, instead! Nowhere do you read "provides for a beautiful creased look!" LOL!

  • @temptalia Considering you pay from UK £16.50 for that and its creases then where is the use. These days folks like to put on they're make and have it stay till they take it off. If we just broke down how money we spend on our face i think i would pass out and to add something that wastes your money is just not cool, M.A.C needs to fix that and quickly. Its like they are trying to convince us that this product is gd they keep bringing it out & we keep saying the same thing. Merry Christmas x

  • I hate MAC when they launch such a dissapointing product and the price is so huge!!!!! For me this brand thinks the costumer is stupid or something, cause I mean such a shame putting something so crappy :( not a pretty thing

  • Ive bought 2 of these

Shadows because it looked cool an it was released erlier here in france

    Im so disapointed

I wish i could get my money back

    I hate them :(

  • @MsFraisedesbois Oh no!! I had a reader from outside of the U.S. say she loved them, and she discovered the ingredient list was different for the ones she bought compared to the ingredient list for mine - I wondered if maybe the int'l formula had been better? Maybe not :(

  • Thank you for making this and warning people!

  • thank you so much for all the hard work u put on this video :)

  • btw SHAME on you Mac !!!

  • Thank you so much C , you're great for looking out for us ... What would we do w/o you ... Merry Xmas !!! Love you :) x

  • Mac your failing big time these days, I kinda am tired of junk that cost so much when i can go to chanel any pay a little more but that actually work

  • I don't even see why companies even try to make cream eyeshadows if they know it won't work. I don't even think there is a way to make cream eyeshadows stay on long or not crease. It's just not possible.

  • @aurabarbie56 actually Make Up For Ever and Benefit both make AMAZING cream shadows that stay all day without creasing or budging. The MUFE ones are especially incredible.

  • @aurabarbie56 Totally agree with @moxiemaya26 - there are plenty of cream eyeshadows/products that don't crease on the market. Even MAC Paint Pots & Paints are reputable, long-wearing products. Other brands include Chanel Illusion d'Ombre, Bare Escentuals Buxom Stay-There, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners, Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams... and that's just the ones I can remember off the top of my head!

  • @temptalia Really? It seems like the ones I've tried, like the drug store brands haven't worked as good. But, I will deffinitly try out some of the brands you've mentioned. Thanks! :) I am an inspiring makeup artist so I love trying out new products! :)

  • @aurabarbie56 Readers have been saying some really fab things about Maybelline's new Tattoo eyeshadow - said they're like MAC Paint Pots! I just received some earlier today, so I'll be testing those out soon hopefully!

  • damn some of the colors are so gorgeous too but disgraceful formula! tsk tsk mac

  • Hmmm lots of creasing! I would expect that from a drugstore shadow but then again I've got an Ilamasqua one and it also creased on me!

  • i shouldnt have to pay 20 bucks plus tax for a product only to set it with a powder eyeshadow shame on you mac!

  • @chonu No kidding! MAC can do long-wearing products, too! Paints, paint pots, shadesticks, pro long-wear eyeshadows...

  • I put 2 of these colors for pre-sale at Nordrstrom :( now I'm going to cancel those! thank you for the honest review, it's a shame that Mac is putting out such substandard products.

  • but they're so shiiiiinyyyyy. i want to love them!

  • I think for the price you pay, you shouldn't have to make it work. It should work without having to buy something else or using another product.

  • @TheSmelleycat Oh, I TOTALLY agree. As a regular consumer, I wouldn't buy cream products that really don't last on their own except for a truly exceptional color but still being able to use it as a base or something like that. I definitely wouldn't buy these -- when they came out in 2008 again (I bought 2 in 2007), I even said I passed because I never reached for the two I had bought, LOL!

  • @TheSmelleycat agree...they need to make it work

  • :D

  • It is a shame because they are so pretty :(

  • fourth :)

  • nice:-)

  • I'm so happy I waited for your review on them:) Didn't buy them not gonna buy them!!

  • First??? Yeah...No??? ok well I thought I would at least try :)
