I'm prolife but I don't support totally banning abortion. I think we should treat it more like a social health isue and try to reduce abortions through family planning, targeted regulations (informed consent, counseling, waiting period, etc ), poverty reduction, adoption, etc. As Christians one thing to do is reach out to women in need and help them through things like crisis pregnancy centers. Also share the gospel and love.

Discouraging women (and the men who pressure them into abortions) is a part of the total prolife movement, but it isn't enough by itself because there will always be people who put their selfish interests ahead of their children's lives. We do support adoption in many ways.

The word "person" in the vernacular applies to ALL human beings. We don't have a word in our language for a human who isn't a person.

Not really. Sure, cell death occured, but as far as death of a person, that doesn't happen until the fourth month when most systems are actually functioning.  Unbiased research has shown that the nervous system doesn't register pain or any other real cognitive activity until about 17 weeks anyway. Research sponsored by ultra-conservative "Christian" groups say otherwise, but we know what side their bread is buttered on.

The needs of all children should be important, not just those who are alive because of laws against abortion. And they should be important to every citizen, not just those who oppose abortion. No one gets a pass on helping needy kids because they advocate killing them before birth.

Elective abortion should be outlawed, not because of any person's individual belief system, but because it is the only intentional killing of an innocent human being that our laws permit.

Troy Newman could just as easily be one of the Toastmaster Generals, an H.R. exec in some Fortune 500 company or (as Rolling Stone magazine once said) "a breezy surfer dude" as a leading anti-abortion activist.
