First of all, it's a double bass, not a cello (no H). Secondly, it's slightly more complicated than just shaking something. He's sitting on a Cajon, which is a type of drum. This is also an acoustic version, so unlikely to need a full drum kit. It's been scaled down to suit the arrangement.
