  • @MarioKart9563 I asked an employee at Chance Morgan and they said that it was just ahead of its time and that it was too scary 40 years ago and never caught on, and it travels on two trailers which made it costly to move. Only 23 of these rides were ever produced.

  • I remember this at the show as a small kid. Is was one of those ride I looked up and and went "wow, I wanna go on that when im older". Sadly, never got the chance, the year i would have been tall enough, it never appeared, and never did again...

  • I was nine years old the first time I rode this ride. I was even able to ride solo.

  • do they make these anymore???

  • @MarioKart9563 No - Chance stopped making the Turbo many years ago. I've heard some different numbers but I believe less than thirty were built. Chance also made the Radar (aka Raven) which had ferris wheel style seats on the same frame. There was one operating Turbo in Australia that toured China a few years back. There is one Turbo in the US that is in the process of refurbishment.

  • I'd like to know something about this amazing ride

how do you enter/exit the upper does the top top move round to release the occupants

  • @38wd The doors to the cabins open outward while they are located at the bottom of the rotation.

  • @johnrea77 cheers Johnrea for the info som Im guessing the upper sections do move to the bottom. It would be nice if Chance relaunched the turbo again

  • I can't wait until the one in Australia is finished being repaired :O

  • @blues9x Where is the Turbo Extreme being restored? That really sounds like a real great ride or would you know if it is similiar to the orginal Turbo ride. Also do you have any indication on when this ride will be coming?

  • When I make it Big I'll have my own "Neverland" with all these bad ass Ride's M-F's !

  • Notice how this vid doesn't have any dislikes. I'm recreating this ride and it will b amazingg

  • Notice how this vid doesn't have any dislikes. I'm recreating this ride and it will b amazingg

  • Hold on the new bells turbo extreme is currently under restoration and is coming soon

  • It's a pity they have vanished

  • Awesome!!!

I've wondered for quite some time how this ride looked when in motion!!

'Cause I'd seen some pictures on the internet, whick made me really interested!

And now I've finally seen it!!!

    Wow what a ride!!

I'd wish I could ride that beast!!! =D

  • God I hate that song.

  • @halation777 LOL me too

  • Thoughtfulguy68 that's a good description. I't's hard to find words to describe what happens at the top but I think you've got it there with the perpendicular way even though it's circular, it's really bizzarre, really great and in some ways really beautiful how it feels up there. Best ride of its kind.

  • I'd like to ride this.

  • This looks fun.

  • How dose this ride work? Do you go upside down?

  • I was feeling bad on a smoggy day at the L.A. County Fair in 1969. I went on this thing and felt GREAT after. I never saw one again.

  • @paradiseamusementcom , I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! :D if BEEN ON THIS WHEN I WAS TEN AND I WAS SCREAMING MY ASS OFF!!

  • Does anyone else find it creepy that you are joined by a bit of metal in a capsual thrown about.. No thanks.

  • ZIPPERS COUSIN!!!!!

  • they did not build very many of these last time i saw one was when i was nine there is also a verson of these w/ ferris wheel type seats one called the radar & one called the raven built by either chance or allen hershall b-4.

  • @TheSkywheellover According to Dave's site, they only produced 23 Turbos before ceasing production. I've never seen one in person, myself.

  • @wonderboyjohnny really I have seen them in Australia for years 1970 to the 2000's. Horrible I don't like the idea of being thrown about in this and the zipper but that's me.

  • they did not build a lot of these , why i dint know there are also versions of these w/ ferris wheel seats called the radar & raven built by allan hershall b-4 chance took over

  • i always wanted to go on this, the last time i saw it was at the melbourne show when i was 5 :<

  • Wait, what does it do?

  • Don't let the graceful motion of the ride fool you -it feels like the Zipper, but with harder gravity pulls. It was a monster.

  • @Thoughtfulguy68 Then, I would love this ride. Haha I love the Zipper so......

  • @Thoughtfulguy68 And how do you sit?? Lap Bar? Cage?

  • You sit in this circle shaped cage with a thick lap bar (just like the Zipper) and you hold the bars on the front of the cage to protect your skull and chest bones :) -The thing thrusts you face down inches from the ground at full force -when you're in the air you flip around in a perpendicular way -even though the ride moves in a circular way -a really weird feeling! -unlike the Zipper where you flip backwards and forwards. I only rode this 2 times in my life, but it was amazing:)

  • @Thoughtfulguy68 Oh i would love this ride then

  • Holy Jesus!!! Feels great to see this again!!! Thankx for posting!!

  • WOW fantastic video and a wonderful ride. Is this not one of the very best rides on the planet?!?! I was lucky enough to ride it in the 80s in Australia. And Oz, if you're listening, that there ride looks like it's in excellent shape. DON'T GET RID OF IT AND KEEP IT UP!!!

  • Rode this one in Washington in early 80's. Black frame with white and yellow lights. Looked mean & nasty. What a ride! Left me numb!

  • My dad went on that ride when he was a teenager xD

  • this ride is so awsome i watched the video like 10 times already and it keeps getting better and better

  • I remember this ride when I was a teenager. It was at our local fair. I rode it and is scared the shit out of me. I liked watching it better than riding. It never showed up at the fair again.

  • Wow. Great to see the TURBO in action again. I operated this ride for 2 weeks in 1992 at the Maple Leaf Village Amusement Park in Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada/ It was there from 1979 to 1993 when the park closed. What great memories!!

  • Finally... A great video of this ride. Thanks for sharing.

  • Never seen one of these in person, but have seen pics of it. I always wondered exactly how the ride spun.

  • They had one of these at Edmonton's Klondike Days back around 1977. It is the only portable fairground ride I know of that provides the same feel of "randomness" and out-of-control speed that Zipper gives the rider. What a shame tht Chance Morgan quit making them. It is astoundingly beautiful to watch too. The motion is almost memsermizing. This is a ride that had far too short a life.

  • My G*d she's BEAUTIFUL. <3

  • Why don't they build'um like that anymore?

  • Oh My God!!!!!

    There it is!!!!

  • Wow - I have never seen it spin around that fast!

  • Great video, especially at the 1:16 minute mark where we see it in full force. Ahhh the memories. anyone know if one of these is still operating?

  • yes, I think there is still a Turbo in Melbourne, Australia...

  • i think they should get the turbo ride back for the 2010 royal melbourne show its a good eye catcher and most of all its a mean marchine for the thrill seekers.
