  • Channel 6 will now get the CW network. San Diego 6 the CW.

  • All the promos now have the O&O logo. The fox 6 like logo was dropped. Now the O&O logo is the final logo.

  • this is NOT an O&O logo nor is it an O&O station. These were done out of house and are unique to this station.

  • Well XETV will be an independent station when KSWB gets 5.. Either KUSI or someone else will get it. Cable, U-verse, and SAT can pipe in KTLA for CW like KCOP until XHDTV aka XDTV came in. XHDTV used to be XUPN in Tecate Mexico and is owned by Entravision. Who knows what will happen since CW isn't doing so hot in ratings. There are plans to end the CW if it continues to do so poorly in ratings.

  • fuck Fox 6, hope it sinks. But yes, SOME of the employees hopefully will get jobs (trust me they're scrambling like rats from a sinking ship right now).

  • Arthel Neville will be doing the Morning news with another anchor. Kathleen Bade will do the 10PM news. Sounds like a good idea. I wonder if Fox will force them to change the callsign? Hope this helps.

  • A news article pointed out that Kathleen Bade is now being hired as a news anchor. It's only the morning news though but now you KFMB fans can now see her on the new fox5 in HD.

  • Oops I take that back. She will be on the 10PM HD broadcast. Not the morning news broadcast. Sorry for the mistake.

  • My source says that Fox 5 will have HD news. The 2nd HD news channel after KFMB. I guess it will be before KGTV. KGTV might follow soon after. KGTV is working out the kinks.

  • Well according to KGTV, they will be rolling their HD news sometime this summer, and after emailing the station, one of the engineers told me that they have the control room already completely upgraded, but that they are working out the kinks. I guarantee you that KGTV will do their news in HD before KSWB, seeing as they don't want to get beat to the punch by the so-called new kid on the block.

  • what will become of the CW

  • Yay! We can now get fox in San Diego without having to point an antenna to frickin Mexico!!!!!

It is about time the #1 USA network is actually broadcast in San Diego for San Diego.

  • But I also hope that all the wonderful employees at XETV wind up finding jobs in San Diego. Especially Chrissy Russo. Gotta Luv Chrissy :)

  • I wonder if the PADRES will finally have a free TV home at the new XETV.

  • XETV will likely become an independent station. KUSI is also looking at CW. Tribune Inc. said that people in San Diego will still be able to watch CW programming. HD will switch over from 1080i to 720p since thats what fox uses. FOX pre encodes their HD and gives them splicer wiring to get their HD up and running asap. Hope this helps.

  • Shit we're all getting fired. I hope Conor goes first

  • Same here, I've been suspecting that she may appear there since their announcement.. hopefully it's a reality!

  • KSWB is ready for the switch it seems.

I wondering how their new news operation set-up is gonna be; like are we gonna see familiar local faces come back to our television sets come fall? or is it an all-new team.. XETV has a nice morning show, but how i hate KUSI's, its good to see another alternative to the san diego scene...

Has XETV announced if they are going Independent or switch to the CW affiliation?

  • No announcement has been made on where the CW will go. It is hard to say who the anchors of the new FOX 5 will be, seeing as they have yet to hire a news director. We will probably know more sometime in late June early July. I just hope that Kathleen Bade gets hired at FOX 5. :)

  • Same here, I've been suspecting that she may appear there since their announcement.. hopefully it's a reality!
