  • Anyone listening to Spootiskerry is being misinformed. Brady Riggs is an amazing teacher who definetly knows his stuff. I am a PGA Golf Professional and Brady's understanding of the golf swing is spot on.

  • That's SO NOT the way to take a back swing! This explanation will have golfers getting into a reverse weight shift, which is the other faux pas (as opposed to the "sway") that happens. Check out Rory from the rear. His "space" happens when he unturns his hips in the forward swing--powerfully. youtube.com/watch?v=LakyyOUlgtE

  • Excellent explaination of the pivot Brady. I don't think I have heard and demonstrated any better.

  • This is such a great thought. Helped me immensely!

  • great move, right hip back and toward target , effortless power.

  • great tip !!! would be nice to see a drill on how to reinforce making this move. i think most golfers lack flexibility and therefore tend to slide the hip back rather than properly turning as shown in this video

  • great video...excellent for beginning the process of fixing my swing

  • Why dont you just say not to shift the body but to turn the hips and shoulders instead on the backswing. Thats golf fundamentals 101

  • one of your best lifetime tips brady. almost a guaranteed instant swing fix. thanks.

  • What a tip, this made such a difference to my normal slice! Great advice thanks!

  • Golf tips don't get better than this.

  • The reason why a hip sway usually results to a slice is because the swing has reciprocal motions backswing and downswing. A hip sway in the backswing is followed by a hip spinout in the downswing. If there is one secret in the golf swing this is it---- A PROPER HIP TURN THROUGH IN THE DOWNSWING IN WHICH THE RIGHT KNEE IS POINTING TOWARDS THE BALL OF THE LEFT FOOT TOWARDS IMPACT TO FINISH WITH THE RIGHT FOOT IN TIP TOE.

  • 2 days ago i did this shot 75 today i was off back to the sway past the line shown here 83 , very important lesson

  • best lesson ive seen

  • awesome lesson, should be the 3rd thing taught to new golfers ( after grip and posture). Helped my game a lot.

    Thanks

  • Great job. Pivot is the most overlooked aspect of the game. I think if an average golfer worked on his/her pivot they can dramatically improve their game in a very short time.

Having a good grip and posture is all important, but if one tends to sway their hips, meaning not loading properly against the right leg, one can never be a consistent player.

Proper pivot is what separates an avarage golfer from the pros.

  • bravo Brady !

the rear view is SEVERELY underused, unappreciated.

& the earlier posters are right on -

your explaination takes < 1 minute,

& will cure a lifetime of struggle! thx

  • This is exactly what I'm doing right now: too much lateral movement, coming over the top, hitting shots fat and getting very frustrated!

I played in the club champs lat weekend and shot two 95s to miss qualifying by 10 shots.

Yesterday, with some work on my pivot, I shot 80 off the same back tees-my lowest round ever!

This is a really good explanation so thanks for posting. What are the best drills to sort this problem out please?

  • starting off with your weight on the inside of your back foot is a good set-up to then create space without thinking about it on the take away

  • great tip...thanks a bunch !! i think this will solve some of my problem

  • very nice advice and explanation.

  • I personally struggle with my right hip going up and getting in the way. Trying to keep it more rotational and not lateral. Great video explanation.

  • great video,,the number one problem with amateurs

  • Excellent info just as Eamon said, thanks a million .... Top Man From Tricky

  • This is a good lesson/tip.I've tried it and i have now more solid contact and more yards.

    TQ

    RY from Malaysia

  • I have had this lesson at least 8 times, and paid $400 to hear it. I didn't do it, didn't understand why you would even do it, and I remained with a huge sway. In a minute an a half you have explained it so I get it. It has helped my swing a ton. And helped me square the club face. THANKS!

  • whatever you do dont get a golf pro that teaches physical he will have you thinking to much get one that teaches mental.

  • Just got back from a round and used this tip. It improved my ball striking and all but eliminated my slicing problem.

  • thanks b. the things we don't know. wow... that's why golf is a game for life.

  • Thank's Brady

    Great tip's

  • Great video - makes it clear between the difference in turning versus sliding during backswing!

  • Nice butt move brady. You sure make a sound advise.

  • Had my first game after this tip,and boy how this improved my game 100%.

    Thanks a million.

  • At last i now know how to find space in my backswing. "Great"

  • Many thanks for the video. It's been added to GOLF LESSONS TV.
