At one point Bill Russell said Bird was among the top ten jumpers in the NBA. I don't think I buy that. But I think it's a myth that he couldn't get some good air at times.
@davd1986 Bird vs. Stockton would be a little unfair. Both of them were not known as jumpers but Bird was 6"9 to Stockton's 6"1. Larry always found a way anyways.....I saw him win in a jump ball against Hakeem in the 86 Finals. Larry always found a way.

Bird had a 28" vertical, same as Karl Malone, his body was just so screwed up from 88-92 he rarely jumped.

Seriously, he was also 265lbs, 45 more than Bird. His tiny vertical does reflect his .8 blocks per game, the same as 6'5" Barkley.
