It's amazing how well Depp sings. Carter is good, too, but her voice is weak. Depp blew me away. The sign of good singing in movies like this (Moulin Rouge, etc) is when you take the actor away and just listen to the music and still think it's amazing.

It was this movie that really made me appreciate Johnny Depp. I know that he is an actor first and so I figured his singing would just be so-so, maybe just getting the right notes and not much feeling behind them. But he far surpassed my expectations! What a fantastic artist.

I have seen it, as well as live on stage. In my opinion Tim Burton's interpretation of Sweeney is by far my favorite. The story of Sweeney Todd is very dark and I think Johnny was the first actor to really capture the inner angst & darkness portrayed in the script. I liked how Depp could express Todd's madness without having to be over the top and although I also like the musical, this is exactly how I truly envisioned Todd's character when I read it years ago.

It's a Tim Burton film. It's how Burton interpreted Sweeney Todd, and Johnny played the role. It's neither's fault, and you simply CAN NOT argue against the fact that Johnny Depp's an amazing actor.
