@ebullock43 Oh stop with the Hitler was an atheist. One serious read of Mien Kampf will tell you that ain't so.
As for the other infamous atheists (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot....), they didn't do the horrible things they did out of a LACK of belief in a supreme being, they did it out of a belief in dogma, power, and/or failure to understand the basics of decent behavior.
@drfoxcourt you are mistaken. I said Hitler was a theist, not an atheist. I believe that we are in agreement about what motivates tyrants. Of course, because I mentioned Hitler in the thread Godwin's law is automatically invoked and I lose the argument. ;)

Has anyone ever seen a starving priest of iman? Even in the most deprived areas of the earth, these parasites flourish on the backs of the people they purport to "comfort". Why do people want to worship an egotistic god who wants us on out knees? If nature intended us to spend any time down on our knees, we would have evolved pads similar to those on a cammel on our kneecaps. A jealous god who, we are told, created us so that we can flatter his overinflated ego with our boundless gratitude.

our boundless gratitude?
do we really know how to properly thank God for the air that we are able to breath, things that we are able to see with our eyes, sound that we are able to hear?
Tell that to the blind, and the deaf, and to all the people born with lung diseases. What chance has your 'loving' God given them?
There is just as much bad in the world as there is good, and if you were an honest person you could agree that your God should not take credit for one without the other.
Peep out of your sheltered existence for a moment and you'll soon come to realise that the world is exactly the way you would expect it to be WITHOUT some 'all loving' entity beyond the skies.
i completely disagree with you. can't you even realize that everything that existed and happened around us is well structured and well organized by something that has an unimaginable power?eg. we never had a choice from which womb we were born. we've got no power over it. having a religion is not only meant to comfort ourself but most importantly is to show our gratitude to god, the one and only one. everything start from there and the rest is just a common sense
Great video! BUT, I just want to correct one thing. YOU can own two things; Your biological life and your cognition. And my personal answer to your "question" is; I hope that humans will reach/evolve to immortal cognitive energy instead of being imprisoned by biology and stupidity.
Religion is just a part of ancient commerce and merchant banking. They offer false promises and empty hopes like the banker creates money out of think air.
Let's hope, VC, that you get some comfort from knowing that you have produced another sparkling and incisive masterpiece! "Claim back the NOW in your life!!! Mmmm! 5*****
Religion & dogma is definitely a difficult comfort zone to break out of after years of religious & dogmatic propaganda. But the comfort of the reality of knowing or not knowing & seeing things for what they really are, & being mentally free to think unbound by far is exceedingly much more comforting I find.
The comfort of someone tangible, real & there is very satisfying, & peaceful to me. When I was a Christian & believed I felt half empty, but when I felt for others I felt fullness &
...and when that feeling is mutual it is it is even much more comforting.
If I had a choice between being on this planet all alone with just a belief in a god or being on this planet alone with any of one you without the belief in the delusion...my choice would be simple, I would find much more comfort in being on the planet with you another person, rather than alone with a delusion of god.
Choose, to be locked up for a year in a dark isolated room, alone or with another person?
I find sanity and comfort that there are other humans and other species...I can't do without them, but I can do without believing in any theistic, religious or dogmatic belief.
Aegialeus: speaking as one who threw out the baby and the bathwater quite recently, comfort-zone wise, I haven't looked back. Being mentally free, strong and self-reliant are fantastic comforters. Sounds as though you are in that nice place too!
I have known quite a few religous people in my realtivly short live and AS far as i can tell, they are just as afraid of death as anyone else and I don't think that they have more comfort in their lives either.
MNB, perhaps it might be more fitting to substitute "All Organized Religion" for "Islam". For that seems to be the point of this series. Not just one form, but all forms of religion are there to enslave humanity, and are thus evil.
incredible video, there is always something new that you learn about yourself or you hear something that you needed to learn for the now from these sort of motivational videos, great work, keep it up
A few days ago, a visiting friend tried to tell me that religion brought comfort and security to so many people. I started to show him that religion is a morally bankrupt hijacker and he actually put his hands on his ears and started shouting "La la la la la !!".
I kicked him out! PRONTO!!!
He then sent me a message: "How come you can state your opinions about religion but it's not okay for me to state mine ?"
I think he got that the wrong way round, didn't he ?
Projection is a common tactic for the religiously indoctrinated. Notice how many religious people love to call atheism a religion? Or call it dogmatic? Even though it is neither of these things, but rather they who fit these descriptions. It's the adult equivalent of the school yard taunt, 'I know you are, but what am I?'
Oh, yes! I concur. In fact, the video I was making last night mentions projection and shows a couple of examples. I've not uploaded it yet but it's called "Psychoceramics 101" and in this video I also draw a comparison in the behaviour of a child and an intellectually deficient true-believer.
Hands on ears, shouting "La la la" really wasn't a wise move, especially not on the morning after I'd finished writing and recording that script !
The only thing I have to say, though, is this: some people live their lives as is every day is their last, thinking this makes them live it to the full; I live every day as if I will an infinite number of them...and really should build and improve on each to make sure it's better than the last.
Someday I may be wrong and find it's my last day...but not if I have anything to say about it! And that day will be GREAT, regardless.
basically, all religion which includes god and after life = bad for moral and civilized societies...and that athiest are perfect for moral guidence...k
You hit the nail on the head there VC. Religion's reason for being is to provide comfort for grief. The comfort is delivered by deception, and the fee is exhorbitant.... your lifetime of sponsorship and devotion, plus that of your children.
When my dad, a staunch atheist, died, my mom insisted on having a religious funeral (he had used to be a baptist when he was young). Funerals are for the living, and all, so it's not like my dad would have bitched.
So, my self, brother and sister basically kept our mouths shut for most of the service - except when the priest said, "Michael was a friend to Jesus," at which point the three of us almost fell over laughing in the middle of the funeral parlor.
Really, nothing like a good gag to get you over the bummer. I had an awesome dad for 25 years, and that's a hell of a lot better than a lot of people get.
"So, ah, doc. You think I could pull off a one night stand, or would that just speed along the deadiness? No, seriously, I need accuracy here. I don't want to keel over in the middle; that'd just be embarrassing."
