do they still making ice like that? this can be a one man job! go offer Luke Tookalook from Umiujaq, just pay his plane ticket, hotel rent and couple bucks an hour he'll do the line perfectly
and i think the ice at my arena sux. I feel a lot more grateful that we actually have a real zamboni where my team plays. I guess they aren't government funded
12 hours eh wow you must have good dehumidifiers and one heck of a plant when we make ice we have to do it reely slow and do a max of 2 hose floods a day or 3 boom floods
in more depth amonia runs in pipe lines under the cement or sand wich goes into the ice plant and is cooled in the cooling tower if your gonna tell sombody information make shure you tell them everything
And if you tell tehm things, try to be accurate/correct. The pipes that run beneath the ice surface do NOT carry ammonia...they carry brine. The brine is chilled (or cooled to well below freezing temperature) in a "chiller" that's found in a mechanical room. The chiller contains the very dangerous ammonia.
Well my ice rink is working and it's the middle of November BC canada

the arena must be frozen...
we use a mixture of real and synthetic materials to make it freeze faster and we dont need to keep the arena at below 0 degrees...
i would hate to play here

I want to be a smartass too! Brine is actually a saltwater mix that freezes at a much lower temp than normal water.
