Brillant idea. I'd never thought of using soldering wick to conduct heat and resolder missing lines without damaging the connector. It's probably worth trying on other handhelds systems too.
It looks like the tool you're using to maintain the solder wick on the connector is a sharp pin with a bent tip...another nice trick ;)
