I spent about 8 years living there and moved out on Dec. 18, 2007. When I saw these video clips, I thought they're fake. All my childhood memories... Gone. Even the people I knew- I don't know where they moved to. Did the flood take over all of Iowa?
I don't want to believe that's Iowa... I would cry deadly if I gone to Iowa & it happened to be flooded. Did the flood stop? Oh, please tell me it stopped I am so frustrated right now. I moved out on dec. 18, 2007. where does the water come from?
Oh, my, gosh! There are so many floods these days, it's hard to try and figure out who to help. I'm glad I don't see Cedar Rapids blaming govt. and demanding govt. entitlements!
the day before the flood took out the court house someone i knew out ran the cops! i found out all the documents about his fleeing from the cops got wiped out! but he sold his car because the cops wouldnt stop followin him
I now live in Marion, but the 3 houses I lived in on the NW side of CR ( Ellis Park area ) for nearly 10 years, would have all been pretty much under water! I only lived 2 blocks from were the water broke through the river wall! I just can't imagine....
Im so glad i dont live too close to downtown CR....I remember trying to leave CR the day after the flood and it took us like an hour to get through the downtown area. It was so sad to see the whole city under water
Though CR acted quickly DURING the flood, they have really dragged their heels in the after-math. The city council was so afraid of making bad decisions, they made NO decisions at all! I've got news for you CR council members... You're NOT going to get re-elected anyway, so make some decisions, and DOOOOO something! It will make no difference with your "tenure"-
I see you in many different places in the vid how did you get to those parking ramps in the middle of the flood? even if you took a boat the current was very bad
i spent allot of time in Rompot viewing the flooding. Incredible/unbelievable amount of water. i took photos and i will make a stills video and post soon. this video is way better than the sorry excuse of a video KCRG ripped us off for, mostly selfish footage of themselves. the only good thing is the money went to flood releaf.
I live in CR and was affected by the flood. We had to move due to six inches being in the 100 year plane and my mom didn't want to live without the basement.
The rain it shows at 5+ minutes into the video caused the storm drains in the Kingston hill section of town to back up the storm drains around the Olivet church. The waters were coming up from the river on one side and down the hills from the other. It caused water to geyser from the storm drains as far up as 13th street on the NW side. I lived a between Olivet and Kingston Hill, I watched it happen. Mind you, that was right where the emergency shelter at Roosevelt Middle School was as well.
I live in Cedar Rapids and I still can't believe how many of my friends lost their homes. Parts of the city look like a bomb went off. It is horrible.
I love you all back home and will be there soon to help with more clean up.
And the Baptist minister rose in his pulpit, glared at the congregants and released a hell blast from his throat, proclaiming that those who judged his parent's harshly during their visit to Cedar Rapids; because their plates read Pennsylvania, because they were from out of state; will be JUDGED!! Two weeks later the floods occurred. He didn't elaborate.
Hey I translated the Russian comment below in Google Translator! It reads: "It is unfortunate city, and residents too. But everything will get back to normal and water and life will go boil!"
That is so sweet, thank-you! Yay, not everyone hates us Americans!
Great video, and mbamatt I totally agree with you! My prayers for the people of good ole CR
"Hey New Orleans... Take note. No loitering. No chaos. Watch this city rebuild. Neighbors helping neighbors. Great Video! Cedar Rapids will be better than ever. "

If you saw the news about the devistation in Iraq you might not focus on this tragedy as much but realize there is much pain in the world and something has to change. This is nothing compared to the innocent women, men and children that are being murdered all in the name of LUCIFER. The time has come my friends to change because if we don't we are going to lose it all! And that is no joke. By not taking care of Mother Nature all these years we are now seeing the direct results.
It's going to bring our Nation down. Shit is about to get heavy I think. People need to start praying to the right God Yahweh and not the Pagan God Jesus Christ.
We are devestated seeing this and the national news of our home town. As people that spent most of our lives in Cedar Rapids, this is just the saddest thing ever. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Cedar Rapidians dealing with this devestating flood. We wish we could be there to help, jobs preventing even coming, not that we could do much. Bless all of you, Susie and Quag Pepmeyer
man that stinks...I live near des-moines and I never thought I would see stuff as bad as this in Iowa. Prayers are with all of you. Thankyou for posting this video
HAARP? check into it! it is called HAARP and it is awful. the gov has a weapon and it can mess up with weather and cause floods or droughts. check it out!
It is shocking to see how deep and fast the water is. Wonderful video. Nice with the annotations and no audio. The seriousness of the subject speaks for itself. Godspeed.
What are the sounds in the background? I appreciated the notes. It's so hard to see the city I used to live in under water. You are in my thoughts and prayers up here in the Twin Cities.
The "roaring" noises are generators trying to run. Many of them were partly submerged. Other noises include people talking around me, rain, sirens in the distance and, of course, the water rushing by.
thanks so much for this video. It is THE Historical flood ever for Iowa! By all measurements, it's now 12 ft. above the highest recorded flood levels ever (NOAA) at about 31+ ft. They're now saying there's alot of gas, oil on the waters.
Sure hope FEMA jumps right in there like they are so famous for. Still waiting for their press conference.
KCRG has aerial footage too fyi. Prayers to all of you in Iowa.
AAAAND leave it to an Australian to blame the Russians...if they wanted to do that to a city they'd overcome the Folsom dam and wipe out ALL of Sacramento. Quit posting that trash on EVERY CR flood video you find. It's insulting to residents and former residents of a blue collar city.
This is terrible! PLEASE, turn to God for foregiveness! Our minister at church says that you allow homos, lesbians, liberals, atheists and muslims to live in Cedar Rapids!
She says that you are being punished for your evil ways. Please turn your hearts to God and be SAVED! I am praying for your lost souls. God bless you.
I have nothing in my heart but Jesuses blessed love. Christians have never hated anyone, we hate the SIN. You need to ask God for foregiveness. You all must repent. Why do you let evil people live in your city???
See what happens? You need to go to a Baptist church right away and be baptized in the Holy Spirit. At least that way you will be able to save yourself. You have my LOVE.
You sir, are a dumbass. Love how your profile is "free thinker" as #1, and how you DISLIKE organized religion. Oh, and you also comment on another video "Those who believe in god(s) are delusional and are operate under misconceptions of reality." You also bash liberals on your post, yet your profile is blatantly anti-conservative.
Time for you to shut the fuck up and quit trolling on an entire fucking city via YouTube. Go back to jacking off to the Boston Celtics now.
Great coverage - if you film more, please talk a bit - give us some geographical references - I know the city a little, but if you tell us where you're filming from, that'd be great! Nice reporting!! Sorry for everyone there who has lost property and livlihood!
When I took these vids, you could still safely access the city's skywalk system -- security guards were posted throughout it.
I'm hesitant to write that because this route is no longer safe -- portions of it are now under water. Please, heed the warnings to steer clear of the downtown area unless you are volunteering with sandbagging efforts. It is truly getting more dangerous by the moment.
