When the motherland casts off her children, her children must fly to victory! Hurrah!
I don't know how I missed this for 7 months. You shouldn't hide your videos from me.
One of my favorite videos is Soviet-era: Ivan and His Magic Pony (aka Magic Horse, among others). It's an entertaining fairy tale cartoon with a soundtrack full of harp.
@yaffle I think it is to Russian animation as the sketches above bathroom urinals are to the Western visual art tradition. It's a satire made by people who didn't understand what they were satirizing, and I find it frustrating that due to the Simpsons' influence, it is the only thing that a great many people know about that rich tradition.
It doesn't actually resemble any Russian animation I've seen, though the art style is similar to some of the Estonian - i.e. "...And Plays Tricks" (1978).
@Niffiwan Get over yourself Gorbachev, you sound as dour as your beloved russki animations. Go watch a Tom & Jerry cartoon and lighten up for once in your life.
...and the little russian baker's daughter fell into a lake of potato vodka and swam and sang to safety, while the mean, communist dictator bug met his terrible end when a local habberdasher smacked him with one of his furry hat thingies that Russians wear. The End. :)

Really cool. What's the song at the end?
crazyat8 1 year ago
@crazyat8 thanks. the title music is from an old TV show called World in Action, rather unsettling music for a documentary series.
