Castlevania, Metroid & Zelda are three games that I prefer as 2D games. Metroid was turned into a damn FPS & Castlevania somehow became a Beat 'Em Up. So did Ninja Gaiden! Ridiculous. I feel the same way when I see a nice movie from the past. There's just so mcuh. It's not nostalgia, it's sadness. Sadness that so much in our past is never experienced again it's only remembered. If you're lucky to experience nostalgia for a game, just imagine if you had never seen it.
@Retro8bit This is by far the worst of all the Castlevania games. I would rather the Castlevania: judgement fighting game that was released for the Wii over this POS. Castlevania 64 suffers from horrible controls, stupid objectives (the whole nitro bs) terrible sound track, stupid monster (skeletons on motorcycles in the 1800s... WT F??) and most of all the camera IS WORST HORRIBLE!! This game is an insult to the classics from the NES and the best Castlevania of all Castlevania IV.

I tried doing this with a no boss cheat. Unfortunately I forgot about the clock tower. Fuckin' sucks. I turn off the cheat and the boss still won't spawn.

This was actually a decent 3D Castlevania game. Sure it had it's flaws, but it wasn't complete crap. And as much as I like the AVGN, he screwed up on his review of this. Nothing against James, but he really failed with his review of this game.
This was one of the few castlevanias that had a horror survival feel to it, albeit the gameplay was very lacking especially compared to the traditional games it had a certain chart all it's own with the day night system and vast 3d world.

Castlevania 64 was my favorite N64 game of all time. I loved the story, and the music held me spellbound. Such an amazing score. I wish it were available on CD or something.

@SabbraCadabra They released a soundtrack for it in japan it runs about 20-30$ on Ebay. And then of course there is always The Castlevania Realm where you can get all the music from the Castlevania games.

Such GREAT music still. This game rocked soooo much ass... i can still remember getting it when i was little... I was a super Noob and played it on easy, only to get FUCKED at the elevator midway through the REAL game."THE END hehehe if ya want to get past this, play the game on normal mode!!!" so pissed to have to start over, Tho now i love that this game is so badass that it will Pwn you in the end if you puss out and decide to play on easy.

This was actually a decent 3D Castlevania game. Sure it had it's flaws, but it wasn't complete crap. And as much as I like the AVGN, he screwed up on his review of this. Nothing against James, but he really failed with his review of this game.

This was one of the few castlevanias that had a horror survival feel to it, albeit the gameplay was very lacking especially compared to the traditional games it had a certain chart all it's own with the day night system and vast 3d world.

@Batistaisbest no offense but those side scrolling games were just...lame ass side scrollers. sure they were fun but just not a whole lot you can mess up in a simple side scroller. this game was much more in depth and detailed. yeah i agree the jumping was clunky as FUCK, but once you got passed that, this was truly among THE best castlevanias ever. used to give me nightmares when i was a kid.

@neverminddy: Yes, those jumps are indeed necessary for a speedrun of this game, as moving around by jumping is a bit faster than just walking.
