i love the tutorials when u click on the info page of the dinosaurs and the guy gives u information about the dinosaurs it was cool, esp trex! i wish i could play this game again
Man, thank you SO much for these videos. I used to play this when I was like... geez... maybe 6 or 7 years old? It was way hard, and not even my father could beat it, so I never got to see the ending. I'm glad I finally got to see how it turns out XD
The ending for this game makes the rest of it pointless. What was the point of collecting the eggs in the first place seeing as how you don't take them with you and steal their chopper no matter if you have gotten all the eggs or not.
@fvgdfbdokd The eggs go bad if you keep them with you, so your character must not have the equipment to take the eggs back with him. Perhaps there's a second team with the right incubation gear that's supposed to come in after you and get the eggs. That was always my guess.
Although I have to question why they don't just send the second team with the incubation gear first... Maybe they're scientists and not trained for combat?
There was a game sort of like this for the PC back around the same time. The graphics were less than awesome but it was the same adventure style type thing with a menu like that going around collecting items and solving puzzles. All I remember is being able to touch the electric fences and getting killed and getting stuff out of the glovebox.
Anyone have any idea what the name of that game was or any info on it?
People have to understand that this game was as close to an "open world" game you could get in 1993. I bought the game solely for the purpose of exploring the island, and I got my money's worth. I would love to see a modern JP game with the same premise as this version, but until that happens, I have nothing but good memories of JP CD, and it's still fun to play.
I remember playing this game when I was a kid, I could never beat those guys at the end the guy in the water would usually kill me.
That being said I remember this game having a bunch of cool little easter eggs like using the rock on the computer or getting run over by a brontosaur...were there any others?
These have been fun to watch and relive some memories.
I was a bit let down by the ending myself. It took me a lot longer than 30 minutes of play to get through, adding up all the time I spent it must have been many hours. I was hoping for at least an "As a reward, you can buy me dinner" ;)
Still, the game was fun to play and although not action packed, had some nice puzzle elements to it. Certainly has no replay value though, which is a shame.
Gotta admit that I wasn't in this generation so I don't know sega games that well but that felt a bit underwhelming.
I bet the time limit was a real bitch on the first playthrough. Cool concept but not much to my tastes. If they were to remake it though then it might be a pretty kick ass game.
damn the ending sucks.........they could of at least changed her text so that she would say:
"I knew you could do it, if anyone blablabla then you are the one. congratulations, when you come back we will visit a hotel room and I will be yours for the rest of the week..."
I could never finish this game. We had to call the help line more then once and the T-Rex scared the living shit out of me everytime. It's nice to see the actual ending.
I never had a strategy guide, but I did resort to calling the Sega helpline once or twice.
I remember, I completed this game during the last day of competition in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics.
The final gunfight (a rather generic climax, if you ask me, for a game about dinosaurs) was extremely frustrating. If not for my tenacity and love for the game, I would never have completed it.
Biosyn - why wasn't this nefarious company ever used in the following movie sequels?
It was in the books, they are the ones who made Dennis Nedry steal the embryos in Jurassic Park, and in The Lost World they did something (I forget, it's been a long time since I've read the books). If you've never read them, I recommend doing so, they're by Michael Crichton.
I've read the books, and that's one more reason I am left asking why they never chose to utilize the company in the following movie sequels.
In The Lost World novelization, they sent a group of men to retrieve eggs. In the movie, it was a group of "harvesters" sent by Hammond's grandson, the new head of Ingen.
can't even believe i attempted to even play this as a kid! it's like a game of clue! and the ending is hella lame wish i still had my sega CD though =(... anyway good review
old school games were impossibly gard for a reason! not many people seen the endings of games, so i guess they didnt matter as much as they do today. when you buy a game now, you are expected to be able to beat it,
Wow...that ending almost makes me glad I was never able to finish the game. I would have pulled my hair out with frustration if that paltry ending was my only reward for completely that game.
I could never get past the uh jeep and the sick dino. Whatever it was called. Thanks for posting this. The ending is one that is so not worth me wasting hours and hours to reach. Though it makes me wish my sega CD still worked so I could give it a try :)
That Emile Shamora is so hot:P I'd go back again just for her!
But you played this SOOO differently than me. I was convinced it was impossible to do everything UNLESS you went right at the first intersection FIRST. I tried to pick up every egg and kill every dinosaur though, lol, and did things the hard way - hardly ever used the gas gun.
I remember playing this as a kid. I completely forgot about those caves until the 3/4 installment of this, and man did it bring back memories I worked hard to bury.
Also, if you haven't read the book yet, I highly recommend you do. A lot of people put the movie on a pedestal, but it butchers the original material so freaking bad. It's one of the worst movie adaptions ever. It's still a great movie, but the book is so damned good.
Also, nice to see another person posting vids that aren't emulated, on the actual systems. You gotta respect that.
Oh, don't worry. I read the book myself. I thought it was better than the movie too. It did a much better job of showing what a failure Jurassic Park was.
elbryan42 the book is awesome but how could you ever expect the movie to live up to the book it can't describe peoples backgrounds and it can only put like a fifth of the material into the movie otherwise it would be like 5 hours long!
I agree with you. Saying the book is better than the movie is unfair to the movie as a medium. The book can do some things the movie can't and vice versa. Also if the movie was so bad in comparison to the book then why is it one of the best movies ever made by common opinion? The creators did what they could with what they had. You cannot directly translate a book to a movie.
Thanks for posting these vids! They really don't make games of this calibur anymore. Nowadays an adventure game closest to this would be full of stupid minigames.
Thanx for the vid!!! That brought back alot of memories. Some how I used to hook up the sound to my sub-woofers in my closet and it use to shake the whole house when I played the game!!! Good Shit!!!
Was that all of the end? I remember trying to play this game as a kid but I just couldn't get through it. I didn't know what to do, and evidently, I missed 80% of the game. Not much payoff if that was the whole end. If there's more could you please post it? Thanks for the vid. You've filled a video game gap from my childhood.
thanks for the video tutorial. I kicked myself in the head for missing things that were quite obvious. Thanks again, this game is a lot of fun and watch at that.
I know it's low on action, but it's not meant to be an action game. This is a puzzle game, where you have to use your head to win. I think it's a nice change of pace from all the other JP games...since most of those are more or less mindless shooters.

This game only takes about 30 minutes to finish if you know exactly what to do. So the time limit isn't that big of a deal.
It's pretty easy to do a bunch of playthroughs and just get a feel for where you need to go.
