I like how the cascade of events leading to George's demise is no one person's fault. It's easy to blame Saya for not fighting (though at first she's only able to do that when she's had a fresh infusion of Hagi's blood), though just as easy to blame George for jumping into fights not sufficiently armed or even Kai for holding up the elevator when they needed it...but the real reason he dies is D67.

Well, isn't Japan allowed to have a dim view of the US base at Okinawa? And we did drop some nuclear bombs on them 65 years ago. Considering some Americans still haven't gotten over the Civil War, I'd say they're allowed to have some residual animosity for that. If they take it out in anime plotlines rather than real life diplomacy, I think we're all good.

Her blood does not kill on skin contact, only when it mixes with their blood. So, cutting the enemy to allow the blood to comingle is necessary. Also, they never say it on the show, but it's possible the protein/enzyme that causes the crystalization reaction has a very short shelf life, and would break down or denature if they drew the blood and waited to use it. The doctor doesn't isolate the 'active ingredient' until the final episode, anyway.
