@Chaoitcme A lot of ex junkies resort to Buhddism. I agree with you that a supernatural being is not always salvation. All I am saying is that prayer helps, but I am still screwed up. I am on anti-depressants in the morning and anti-psychotic meds in the evening. I have my moments, but with all the suggestions I stated above, they help me. I go to Church but hell is here on earth too, not some sixty meters below. Heaven? that is a conundrum. I live by the day, pray in the evening I give my best
@Johnnystrychnine I am an ex addict as well. I have no problem with people having faith. It is just not for me though. I see no evidence of a higher power and I do not agree with the practices of many organized religions. Whatever works for you though. Just stay clean and make everyday meaningful to you. I own a lap top that I purchased when I was working and a car that is not worth much now. I live in community housing, akin to public housing for the disadvantaged. I kicked a bad habit ONLY when I hated being high as much as being sick. My identity is in the music I make, things I say, messages printed on my t-shirt. I lost all that to numbness. Life was worthless. I wanted my vitality back. I got it back in august 2006. No 12-step theology, gods, prayer, just emotional vitality.
@AdamRainStopper So the methadone program works for you, that's great. I don't expect a prayer to work for you or any body else that does not have a sense of spirituality. It is what I have chosen to do. Have my prayers come true? No, but have I gone back to using? No. And that people have given me a thumbs up, big deal. I said I wanted back my EMOTIONAL VITALITY. I did NOT say I wanted to be functional but still have a crutch. Methadone can do these things for people who aren't ready to live without a narcotic of some sort, but it can't give you back vitality.
