  • Hollywood + Breck Boy, a marriage made in Heaven! Yep, all those "hard working" Hollywood writers really making "Amerikur great" at $40-60K a script? I feel sorry for anyone who didn't see through that phony Edwards from the beginning. But they probably have no business in any further political discourse.

  • John Edwards to me is Bobby Kennedy with a Southern accent.

  • Where are all the fucking accolades for Edwards NOW? What a douche.

  • Wow! I just got excited about John Edwards. It's about time someone reminded the Democratic Party who they are supposed to represent!

  • Thank god for online platform like youtube, otherwise all we are ever going to hear about the strike is going to be propaganda by the networks conglomerates

  • the networks only reflect its owners personality and we all know who they are.

  • ya the networks are a bunch of scam artist fuckers and not only are they responsible for putting so many ppl out of owork they are pissing off and screwing over the ppl who GIVE THEM THE MONEY, the consumerS!

such an example of intentional retardation is disgusting

  • I wonder if he wrote that speech...

  • All i have to say is- John Edwards 2008. He is the only Dem. that can go head to head in the general election and defeat all wealthy Rep. contenders. Edwards is the man!!!

  • SInce when were TV writers wealthy?

  • Edwards is a typical slimy trial lawyer. His history of mental illness will lead to his downfall.

  • edwards is a corporate douch and part of the member of the c.f.r. along with hilary, obama, romney, giuliani, mccain, biden, thompson.

    Kucinich is not.

    Paul is not.

  • wrong. does not stand for big corporation at all. lots of focus on rural america which is really getting screwed by corp farming, not to mention the republican party.

  • why is he there? he doesnt write

  • I love it - after all those anti piracy adds stating that it is Hollywood's middle class who suffer from piracy - it turns out its the studios themselves who refuse to appropriately compensate out of the dvd and download profits.

  • Check out Joe Biden if you want a real leader!!! Joe Biden in 08

  • When we look back someday at the catastrophe that was the Bush administration, we will think of many things: the tragedy of the Iraq war, the shame of Guantánamo and Abu Ghraib, the erosion of civil liberties. The damage done to the American economy does not make front-page headlines every day, but the repercussions will be felt beyond the lifetime of anyone reading this page.

  • get your priorities straight edwards.

  • Put big business out of business. I can't wait to ride my donkey to the corner and sell oranges.

  • Hope he and others spend more time on issues of equality.

  • You all are SHAMEFUL!!

1 in 4 HOMELESS on the streets is A VETERAN. They have NO paycheck and NO HOME.

WAAAAA I want more fuckin money. I cant afford to buy 4 pairs of shoes this month.

They pay the price so you get to be Betches. They protect you. They stood up to fight for rights that you take for granted. Not to mention those rights Bush has taken away from you but you were too worried about Paris, WTF are you Doing for them?

  • Now this is how to take on the serious issues. [/sarcasm]

  • Wow.... there should be a new word for pandering.

  • Wow...there should be a new word for ignorant.

  • there is....John Edwards

  • Mr. Edwards has a reputation of picketing just long enough to make a compain pitch/ad....

  • It's great that John Edwards was there! I'm glad that some politicians care about these domestic issues.

  • John Edwards is a huge phony...you do realize that by picketing here he's representing people who already make like $100,000/yr...oh yeah, these writers are really down on their luck...hahahahaha...

  • you do realize the CEOs and executives of these mega-corporations are making millions more in salaries and bonuses without paying workers their fair share in DVD and internet sales. talk to a writer, many of them would kill for a salary like that. their lives are not as extravagant as you think.

  • exactly... I dont feel bad for these "poor" people...Edwards is really for the average guy!

  • Most writters;

    a) Dont make that money

    b) Dont have any job security at all.

It (mostly) isnt a 9-5 job, they dont get long contracts like the rest of us. Even the top ones can be out of work for years at a time.

Would you argue with an author getting royalties on their books? Or a muscian on their CDs?

Your first statement, however, looks correct. He hyjacked this strike to do a campagn pitch.

Thats painstakingly obvious. The writters should be embarised for him.

  • WGAAMERICA- way to go deleting my last comment 15 minutes ago. I guess because I think Edwards is a kiss-ass who profited off of what he objects today. Yeah, so much for freedom of speech and opinion. Not in the Liberal world though.

  • What a freakin' kiss-ass Edwards is. His own state didn't even support him last time here in N.C. What an opportunist.

  • ya north carolina: a real understanding, respectful, tolerant, non-prejudiced, intellectual place

john edwards is clearly doing this for publicity, BUT WHAT CANDIDATE DOESN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS???

  • Would Martin Luther King win Alabama?

  • my comments about the Council of Foreign Relations were just removed. Follow the money everyone!

  • slit: that is because comments about the cfr are just dumb. people have been worried about the trliateral commission and the cfr forever, for like 50 years. it's just a think tank. people can plot the takeover of the world in a bar in new york city - they don't need the cfr to do that.

  • He is an idiot. Using this as a cheap publicity tool. Dumbass...People in his home state of North Carolina CANNOT stand him.

  • I'm from NC and I love him. Everyone I know loves him. He would do the things we need to get this country back on track. And he is not all talk unlike the others- he has walked the picket lines and shown REAL solidarity.

But that's okay- support some corporate Dem or Pub who is all for NAFTA and the awful Peru Free Trade Agreement. I'm guessing you've never even heard of the Peru Free Trade Agreement have you?

  • not true. you've been talking to reps who stalk the pages of dem blogs to harras anyone who makes a positive statement about anything he says. pisses me off & wastes my time. I hope he can maintain seperation of church and state is all.

  • he cares more about fame and power than he cares about his wife

  • these politicians think everyone is stupid.

  • Ron Paul will not let you down... I can guarantee that this phony will.

  • true

  • You cannot tellthese cow pies nothing, they just stick their fingers in their ears and sing LA LA LA LALA ALA LA LA LA LA . Because truth Hurts and you have to be a grown up to see it.

  • I love how Edwards says "we wont allow these conglomerates totake over america...uh,huh and what does he have to do with the price of rice in china? They are striking for more pay because the internet is free and they want to feed their families. Once again probing John Edwards is a douche with a 400 dollar haircut. I saw WAY more people who didnt want to shake his hand than did. Betch.

  • " They are striking for more pay because the internet is free "

No, they are strikeing for more pay because the corporations are making millions from internet adverts and they are getting nothing.

But yes, he does seem like a douchbag.

  • well.. he's better then hillary. Although Hilary, Edwards and Obama are all members of The Council of Foreign Relations. Go check out the board members. It's scary!

  • You hear me?

  • huh? I'm not sure what you're talking about. EVERYONE!! Go to CFR(dot)org and check out the board members.

  • So what?

  • the council of foreign relations was formed by Rockefeller at the same time as the federal reserve. the board members are high powered bankers, media, military and government.

  • John Edwards is a tool

  • Great job Senator Edwards!!.....People are to young to remember the way Ronald Reagan broke the air traffic controllers union when they were on strike. That has affected the American workforce to this day.

    Go WGA!! and Senator Edwards!!

  • what a doush

  • What a hypocrite. I wonder how many strikes he supported when he was making millions as a lawyer.

  • are you seriously gonna fall for this? this is ridiculous, edwards is not the man for the working man its dennis kucinich. kucinich is against nafta, do you ever notice how they just say "big corporate agenda" or refer to kids and families to play on your emotions. its all manipulation to make you think they're legit when they don't provide real solution just sweeping generalizations.

  • He's a Bilderberg/CFR plant like the others and he will burn in hell right along with the others. All of a sudden he saw that there is a groundswell against corporatism so in the past week or two he has suddenly switched tactics to try to appear to be against corporate fascism...when he is really one of their main puppets....disgusting.

  • James Hoffa of the teamsters is actually a member of the CLI, the committee to liberate Iraq...along with the ex-cia director, the top 3 guys at PNAC and LIEBERMAN who introduced the bill to attack Iraq and just recently introduced the bill to attack Iran that Hillary voted for.

  • He unlike others deserves credit for standing against the rich. listen to the candidate's words and actions. why in the world would you applaud for the candidates who do not have guts to stand by his or her words?

  • Saving people is art.

That is stretching for reasons to call the strike bad.

  • ...Ron Paul

  • Ron Paul is the only answer.

    Edwards is a Bilderberg member.

  • Whatever- none of the other candidates showed up.

  • It doesn't mean anything if they showed up or not. Do you think he will have any influence on what goes on? NO. He's just there so that the he can get some air time and win some points.

  • A future President showing his support for equal pay says loads about his character and does have an effect. Maybe not an effect on policy but definitely an effect on the visibility and importance of the issue.

  • hotlike: Equal pay? The issue isn't equal pay, it's just compensation. Writers should be paid for their work whether it's distributed by DVD, VHS, on the internet or on television.

That doesn't mean there's some normative standard of "equal pay" floating around that's dependent only on "being a writer" rather than the writer's output, the quality of their work and their "market sustainability."

If something of theirs is sold, they should receive their fair share of the profits. Period.

  • irp: Equal pay, just compensation, the right to press for appropriate wages and benefits under the laws governing collective bargaining, or whatever, you use every justification for your views, but you're not fooling anyone. Misanthropy can be hidden for a while, but ultimately it is unmistakable. We just don't want your world, that's all.

  • nicholas: Hmm..

"Equal pay, just compensatin...use every justification for your views...Misanthropy can be hidden"

Yup, just compensation and equal pay (do you listen to yourself?) sure are misanthropic.

    :)

    Nice try, but no cigar.

  • irp: Lol, the crux of the argument is whether social justice is a valid goal of an economic system. Some misanthropes feel like any type of wealth redistribution is wrong.

  • A.) Edwards is not going to be a Future President.

B.) If a man cares so much about the strike why doesnt he take some of that millions of dollars he is in debt for and give it to the strikers.

c.)Edwards is a fool and a Tool of the CFR. Go look it up.

D.)Saying that they are going to take on Big Business is funny when most of his donations come from lobbyists.

  • He sued major corporations because THEY were taking money away for the average person. HE represented the people who were treated poorly in large lawsuits. He defended a women who's daughter was killed because of a manufacturer defect in a pool. His belief in the every day person and his ability to connect with people is obvious. He was paid a percentage of the profits which is what every lawyer would have asked for. He is also not worth 75 million. You are confusing him with John Kerry.

  • hotlike: And the fool strikes again.

    "because THEY were taking money"

Not quite. Edwards sued doctors 'on the behalf of children"' under spurious claims of medically caused cerebral palsy, and other disorders, stemming from "lack of oxygen reaching the brain" during birth.

It's cute how he also wants to (now) cap the amount of money anyone can receive in civil claims.

    Shucks, what an honest man.

  • I want a man who cares about the little guy. Both my kids have autism. I want someone who CARES that no insurance company will cover them..because its BIG BUSINESS thats our leader..not Bush..DEMOCRATS RULE! GO JOHN!

  • autumn: "I want someone who CARES that no insurance company will cover them"

Not to be too harsh in pointing out reality to you: but why is it that you are entitled to anyone else's money? From a business, corporation, insurance or otherwise?

Insurance is a gamble for both parties: we hope, by paying every month, that insurance will cover the costs of injury after an accident; insurance companies hope that accident never happens.

Go back to living in la-la-land :)

  • Where did she mention she was looking for money? She wants insurance coverage for her two children who deserve to have the best health care. Money shouldn't determine the level of doctors and health coverage a person receives. You are simply here it seems to misinterpret what people are saying and presume that by having a positive outlook they are faulted.

Go back to living in your dark depressive hole. Stay there. Don't come out and ruin the efforts of other human beings.

  • hotlike: "Where did she mention she was looking for money?"

    Hmm..logic isn't your friend, I see.

When she asks for insurance to "cover her children" she asking them to dole out money for their benefit.

"Money shouldn't determine the level of doctors and health coverage"

Yes ma'am, but that isn't the government's place is it? There already exists gratis medical care, discounted insurance, free aid from Doctors, organizational help from the Red Cross, etc.

    :)

  • hotlike: "and presume that by having a positive outlook they are faulted."

A positive outlook, eh? Believing the government has sole right and power over everyone's money, property, items and things, and has the (further) license to take and redistribute them is a "positive outlook"?

I hope you grow out of your youthful (and dangerous) idealism some day.

  • irpwny: It is completely okay for all of us to come together and make agreements about common goals. Sometimes that involves paying taxes for things we don't all agree about, but we allow our elected reps to make those decisions. Is it "tyranny of the majority"? There will always be arguments about that. In any case, the current healthcare situation is a ridiculously wasteful mess. A national healthcare system makes complete sense.

  • nicholas: "In any case, the current healthcare situation is a ridiculously wasteful mess."

Ah right, and the government, that preserver of all that is right and just, the upholder of virtue, that incorruptibly angelic organization should overtake it?

    Nah.

"A national healthcare system makes complete sense"

And yet you give no reason why. -- In Germany, Britain, France, etc. socialized healthcare has proven to do only one thing: burden the economy.

  • irpwny: Not sure why you're calling the gov't angelic. If the current system was not so out of control and crazy, no one would be considering the angelic gov't to get involved. The current u.s. system is very wasteful compared to those european systems. not sure what you mean by a burden. you're saying the economy is not doing well there?

  • He's a typical misinformed republican. The only reason for the shift in the german and french economies was the transition to the euro. Even so it is a burden a socialist country proudly bares.

  • catbuffalo: Totally agree. There are people who comment in here who will tell you the entire ECM is about ready to implode, barely surviving, lol.

  • hotlike: It says you responded twice but I can't find the second post. I guess youtube is having difficulties :/

  • That will get their vote John, now how ABOUT picketing ALL the other media outlets because THEY have shut out the AMERICAN PEOPLE! When was the last time you watched an average American on t.v expressing their views? We have been REDUCED to polls and they are a joke. So I guess the joke is on us!

  • WORKED FOR --when did working become a bad thing? They didn't pay him for favors to give back after he's elected. WAKE UP AMERICA! YOU HAVE BEEN BOUGHT & SOLD! TAKE IT BACK!

    EDWARDS ROCKS! 2008!

  • guy: the whole point is that too many of us are more or less forced to work for some huge corporation, or not work. we need to enforce the antitrust laws, and it seems self-evident that having only a few people owning our news outlets is a bad idea. good for edwards.

  • I stood with them, too. I write a lot of things and I never get paid for them, like these witty youtube comments. When am I going to get my fair share?

  • Now the political war has gone to the TV reruns land! Go figure. Watch for President Bush coming to a WGA strike very soon!

  • smart- support the writers, they'll make you look better.

-i still like the guy though

  • Well, he does it for votes, Hillary Clinton and Obama don't even care about anyone but the bureaucrats. And with current polls... it is self-evident that Clinton and Obama have no chance in the general election.

  • and meanwhile your lazy asses are judging, think about how many people you judge and then think of being judged in the same way, do positive things don't judge positive things...think about it

  • dude, 90% of the population judges.. that's all they'll ever do, they complain and do nothing themselves. i only wish i had enough free cash and my mom didn't need me here, so i could drive up to Washington DC and really speak my mind..

  • After November 26, 2007 when talks resume and a new deal is approved and the strike ends, the reruns of Jay Leno's Tonight Show, Late Night, Later, and SNL will end!

Nice speech from the NBC picketers!

  • that was John Edward's speech #4... He has 5. Seriously, he says the same thing in almost every situation. The voices aren't being heard lol its a problem HA... I get it

  • him along with every other candidate, which doesn't bother me, aslong as the statements they repeat over and over again are the important ones..

  • How refreshing to hear a Democrat actually stand for labor without equivocating. He's got my vote!

  • Now if we could just get Hiliary and Obama out there.

  • you're never going to see Hillary out in the public.. she's all talk, and you know, she's married to a guy who was great when it came to talk, bull or not, you think she would have picked up a couple things...

  • It looks like he has a Wriststrong bracelet on. Or, you know, at least a red rubber bracelet on.

  • Awesome.
