This song is perfect in every way...plus he's playing a kick ass '69 Thinline Tele which I have too :) Interesting that his has a rosewood fretboard though—very cool!
Sorry, 60sbest, but I'm afraid that I don't have any footage of Lloyd performing 'Tell Her Sister' or 'To The Lions' - he only promoted the single releases on British TV.
@philscreen You don't have Tell her sister and the great songs on Lloyd's first two great solo efforts.
Hey if not you then who. I gotta hear more Lloyd from those 2 fine records. Robert Quine RIP too and his wife too. Quine had a law degree and if he were alive he's get Cole's first two back. OK I am shutting down.
Great Lloyd channel, Philscreen. It would be a wondeful think if Philscreen could , when convenient, and if a lawful entry and a strip search is done and finds perfect skin, post up Tell Her Sister & To the Lions. OK, at the very least Tell her Sister unless you don't like it (impossible) or the law is breathing down your back on rue morgue avenue . Thanks if you can.
I so remember this Wogan performance in 1991 as I was due to see him at the Hammersmith Odeon a few weeks later.
Ok so he never got the recognition many think he deserved but you can bet if he'd have died young in tragic circumstances he's have been a cult hero the alternative world over. Such is life!!!
A friend mistakenly thought that the 'Perfect Skin' line "...And she's sexually enlightened by 'Cosmopolitan' and..." was actually "...And she's sexually enlightened by cosmopolitan hands..."
Been playing his CD non-stop in the car - having a trip down memory lane. Saw him and The Commotions over 20 years ago -feels like yesterday. So laid back and cool. Plus any song with Wine in the tile does it for me lol
yeah I always like revisiting my lloyde cole collection. there are some good live fairly recent recordings out there. it's neat to hear him reinterpret songs. still the same old lloyd tho, thankfully.
Awesome! I just love these lyrics...and oh...'the last thing you needed is me and my weeping wine' I almost feel 25 again...drunk and bitter over a lost love!

Didn't Matthew Sweet play bass and backup vocals on this album?

@TheWeebletree Yeah I believe he did. You can hear his backing vocals on this track. Lloyd was on MS's"Girlfriend" album too.

Every song on side one is good. Every song on his first solo album is good. Why did they not sell? the story of man.

Best band he ever assembled in my opinion. I remember this tour fondly.

The great Matthew Sweet played bass and did background vocals on the LP.

@bigjimandthewolfpack I believe Mr. Sweet also wrote/co-wrote this song, too!
