He didn't hit his brakes until :10. He was well into the curve before he did. It appears that the the curve could give the illusion that you could make it without decreasing speed, until it's to late as he may have realized at :10 seconds. Just a thought.

I have seen this video many times. It was taken from an in-cab camera on a C.R. England truck. The driver did stop shortly after he got through the smoke to help.The person driving the truck that crashed only had his CDL for 4 days at the time of the wreck. His trainer/brother was in the bunk sleeping as they rolled off the cliff and neither survived. It is obviously driver error on both parts. That is a long and windy 40 mile mountain that no rookie driver belongs on alone.
People just need to leave each other alone. The driver was not smart in taking that curve at such a "high" speed for that part of the road. You have to compensate for your own vehicle, the size of the vehicle, and also the weight of the vehicle. I do feel sorry for the driver, I hope that he is ok and not crucially harmed. But the blame is on him.. He could have slowed down.. "'It only takes a second to do something you'll regret for the rest of your life.."

@shadowr434 when i first saw this video i was amazed at the quality and rarity of the image. my opinion was not to feel sorry for him because this was an avoidable accident. that received a shit storm of angry u-tubers contesting my neither right or wrong opinion. not until MrJamesp2994's comment did i know the driver and co-driver were killed. this is tragic. condolences to the families. my opinion stands that the highly trained and educated driver keeps his/her vehicle in control.
Perhaps the breaks had issures. Make one little mistake, and it all over. No bodies perfect. It would have been a dull video if the truck had slowed down!
