I have kept ferrets all my life and love them, but I agree with the reasons why California ban them. One of your statements was ferrets are thousands times less likely to bite than dogs, this is bullshit as I have been bitten hundreds of times by ferrets, I have never been bitten by a dog dispite keeping dogs all my life. Also if the ferrets did escape and form feral colonies they probably would affect the local wildlife population by killing lots of it.

It would take a lot of money and time to bring the truth out about the domestic ferrets. I also have 4 and live in San Antonio Texas. Other states prove that the law is wrong about the ferrets. If there is a will, then there is a way, but it would probably cost a lot.

I love love love LOVE California. Where I live at least (San Diego) the weather is absolutely perfect all year round. I've lived in Cali all my life and get anxious whenever I'm out of state for too long. HOWEVER, I am seriously considering moving away just so I can have one of these wonderful creatures as a pet.

I have had my ferret Bandit (me and my mom put him to sleep in August) for seven years and not once has he bit me, plus i have lived with ferrets ever since I was born. @prty4life8520 Most ferrets are neutered or spayed and even if they were whole AND somehow escaped, they can only live for two maybe three days on their own in the wild making the possibility of two of the opposite sex of these animals meeting while the female is in heat is nearly impossible. So to recap. TWO ferrets would have to escape they would have to be OPPOSITE SEXES, they would have to SURVIVE long enough to meet each other AND the female would have to be in heat. Yeah I don't think so.

Just Hawaii and Cali have banned them - in the 1930's the DFG banned them by mistake but then allowed people to keep them anyway off and on. Now, they are ignorant and believe falsehoods and rumors. They think they may eat wildlife, carry rabies, and injure people. In the 48 other states where they are legal this is not a problem and never has been. California needs to get a grip.

I am about to start training for an humane investigator which is and animal cruelty investigator and i have 2 ferrets they are the best pets you could ever have they will not bite if you train them and their so smart i would suggest them as a pet for anyone and they aren't dirty and the really don't smell as long as you give them a bath once a week it takes like 5- 10 min at most i love ferrets and i think every one should have one

actually, the ferret has a very high adaptability. there is a pretty large colony of the endangered black footed ferret in the great plains which gets quite cold in winter and quite hot in summer. the black footed ferret conservation program website has many points of interest in any respect...

i have four ferts and i would die without my babies... i rescued two and it was the most wonderful thing i ever did. one couldnt walk b/c he was so untaken care of. now he runs, and plays like mad... love my babies, hope they get legilized
good for you for rescuing 2 ferrets. my parents found one that had been set loose here in texas. they brought it to my husband and i because we have rescued other animals. we are currently looking to buy a home and land so we can start a small animal sanctuary.

Ferrets are so misunderstood! My ferrets were incredibly clean, litter-trained, taught not to nip, etc. And most ferrets are neutered/spayed before they ever hit a pet shop! They're terrific pets and less work than dogs (though I love dogs too). ;-)

They are really easy to take care of. They sleep most of the day and require about 2 hours of play. Ferret food is pretty inexpensive. They can even be potty trained. You just have to be careful they don't get into appliances in your kitchen and such. They are really curious. The saying should really go"Curiosity kills the Ferret!."

@prty4life8520 Most ferrets are neutered or spayed and even if they were whole AND somehow escaped, they can only live for two maybe three days on their own in the wild making the possibility of two of the opposite sex of these animals meeting while the female is in heat is nearly impossible. So to recap. TWO ferrets would have to escape they would have to be OPPOSITE SEXES, they would have to SURVIVE long enough to meet each other AND the female would have to be in heat. Yeah I don't think so.

Just Hawaii and Cali have banned them - in the 1930's the DFG banned them by mistake but then allowed people to keep them anyway off and on. Now, they are ignorant and believe falsehoods and rumors. They think they may eat wildlife, carry rabies, and injure people. In the 48 other states where they are legal this is not a problem and never has been. California needs to get a grip.

ferrets are less wild than domestic dogs-they require quite a bit of attention and money, but if properly gentled and trained, make good teens-and-above pets. min are gentle, sweet, and have such personalities. they couldn't live in the wild any more than a human toddler could.

Ferrets are so misunderstood! My ferrets were incredibly clean, litter-trained, taught not to nip, etc. And most ferrets are neutered/spayed before they ever hit a pet shop! They're terrific pets and less work than dogs (though I love dogs too). ;-)

They are really easy to take care of. They sleep most of the day and require about 2 hours of play. Ferret food is pretty inexpensive. They can even be potty trained. You just have to be careful they don't get into appliances in your kitchen and such. They are really curious. The saying should really go"Curiosity kills the Ferret!."
