I don't know the trance genre well. Is the muted kick a standard thing? And I think I heard a reverse snare? I knew a bit about what synth sounds were used. The flute-like accents are interesting, but I seem to recall some stuff like that in late 80s or early 90s techno or other club music.

@FlowTraceur It's a bit like George Lukas who thinks adding 100 Tie Fighters in the background of a scene will make Star Wars a better movie. It doesn't. Same goes for todays works of, for example, Tiesto and PvD (let alone musical f'tards like Basshunter...). They overburden their tracks with more and more "voluminous" instruments and use strings that sound so cheesy that I lack words to describe my animosity adequately.

Even though it just HAD to sound this way due to the fact that the genre hasn't existet before. These days trance just sounds utterly generic - the arrangment in this part of the musical world is in a effing stasis bubble since the late 90ies. There is no vision behind these tracks. no concept, no original idea, no soul.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!! I haven't heard this classic trance tune in a long time!!! Brings back excellent memories!!! This is what real trance music was all about back in the day, but now the newer trance have become so crappy. Thank you so much for reintroducing me to this awesome tune and for showing me what the past trance music sounded like. 5 stars & faved :-)

@protectorofillinois the new trance is not crappy! everyone thinks the classic genres are better than the new genres, but it's actually the opposite. i honestly think classic rock, pop, trance, etc. sucks compared todays music. i mean you can't honestly say that madonna is better than lady gaga or Dance 2 Trance is better than Basshunter, you absurd monkey!

@jacen0000 lol. the new trance has better melody and overall sounds...the old trance is just a couple of pad strings thrown together with a piano layer. yes, the new trance maybe cheesy, but it sounds wayyyy better and there's no denying that Robert Miles owns Dance 2 Trance!

@protectorofillinois well... Im 24, and sometimes Im at some disco and thinking to my self: "Is it possible that in 20 years music became so worst than it used to be? Shouldnt it be the opposite?", because, I remember that, 15 years ago everyone went mad when this tunes kicked ass at the discos, now everyone is just... moving their bodies somehow at the "music" in the discos. If im not drunk, I can barely dance. Why is that?

@protectorofillinois yeah, this one was fucking awesome and this sound has taken me straight into an older times when I was at school . I do agree, later trance productions had been changed at all . We ought to keep in mind the one ,that it was really very early 90's when the song came out . A songs like that are being rare played today,btw .

@FuseNet Oh don't be like that ;) Seriously ! It has evolved ! Its not bloated ... well a rare few cases are i guess , but some people like it more complicated too i guess ! But i don't really follow by what do you mean shallow ? Ever since i was a kid i listened to trance ! I heard all over VIVA TV and MTV always ! That and Happy Hardcore :) You seriously must one of those people that just can't go along with the newer stuff i guess . Still your opinion matters just as much as mine . Cheers !

@FlowTraceur It's a bit like George Lukas who thinks adding 100 Tie Fighters in the background of a scene will make Star Wars a better movie. It doesn't. Same goes for todays works of, for example, Tiesto and PvD (let alone musical f'tards like Basshunter...). They overburden their tracks with more and more "voluminous" instruments and use strings that sound so cheesy that I lack words to describe my animosity adequately.

@FlowTraceur (part2) Everything they REALLY do has been done 15 ago. In the 90ies, trance sounded fresh. Even though it just HAD to sound this way due to the fact that the genre hasn't existet before. These days trance just sounds utterly generic - the arrangment in this part of the musical world is in a effing stasis bubble since the late 90ies. There is no vision behind these tracks. no concept, no original idea, no soul.

@FuseNet True it did sound fresh back then , simply because it was a freshly born genre ! For instance i love Suncatcher , he makes amazingly beautiful tracks ! Not bloated and not 'anorexic' ! Just the right mix ! I do agree that artists often forget about vision and why most of them got into music and stray from the "righteous path". Still what i listen to is hardly generic , plenty of artist's with tracks that make my heart jump at joy, at when i listen to them!Tritonal,Nitrous Oxide,ATB !

@FuseNet Haha ! Thanks ! At least you give a valid argument ! I thought you would give me something like "Old SCHOOL TRANCE 4 LIFE !" - something like that . You do give valid points , but PVD and Tiesto is not what i would really call all that much Trance .Seriously they ARE generic , true . Basshunter - Not even Trance ;] Just Dance/Hard Dance. But you listen to the generic ones , and yes plenty of generic tracks are made. But there are plenty new ones , WITH Vision , WITH Soul.
