What is the basis ? Proposed mechanism of action?

Seems simply like a series of ritual to distract one from the original thought/feeling, while performing this strange sequence... Is there anything more to it? Please explain.

@sunnyanemone I can't answer for the uploader as I'm not 100% sure but I think it has something to do with the left brain/right brain balance or something. If you search Dr Franzi's TFT Power Ritual, there is a longer sequence and I think she explains it a little better.
