Are you serious ItPielLike? This is done by an FFA group. The FFA is an organization that is for the better of animal treatment. I don't know were you get your facts, but i've lived and worked on farms. Farrowing crates do protect the piglets. Also, all farms do not have bad living conditions. People complain about the concrete or metal floors, but these floors allow for the farmer to keep them clean of feces. They also assist in maintaining a constant temp. in the building.

How dare they say this?! I have had to work on farms like these, and the conditions are horrible. Sows are good mothers, but if they are put in farrowing crates they are more likely to crush the piglets -- they cannot lie down properly, they have to fling themselves onto the ground. They are bored out of their minds, hate standing in their own filth, get sores... they are depressed and ill.
