Ugh I know. I HATE THIS THEME! The old CBS NEWS SPECIAL REPORT theme said news. informative news, serious news, and it got your attention, too. This one? It's almost like they're celebrating whatever the news is. It just has that sort of awful cheerful (AND creepy) tone to it. And sometimes the news is terrible news. This theme is not newsworthy at all. I don't like Katie's reporting style either. She is like a robot.
It's funny, because the old theme fit perfectly with the reporting styles of Bob Schieffer and Dan Rather. Now Katie, terrible theme, terrible reporter. I guess it fits. Either way, I hate the new music, the new set, the new graphics, and Katie. I watch ABC now.
The entire ABC NEWS team reminds me a lot of the reporting styles of Bob Schieffer and Dan Rather. And they have a serious sounding SPECIAL REPORT theme that gets your attention and really sets the stage of the report/coverage to follow. ABC NEWS is like the old CBS NEWS In my opinion

I like both the new and old CBS News theme, but this countdown for the Special Report is just horrid.

@kk218 It's the headline vamp, that's why. Initially it was a separate music track.

It's interesting: Nearly all the people who used to watch CBS until Bob Schieffer left now watch ABC. Not NBC or cable...
I just wish Peter Jennings were still around to bask in his much deserved the success.
