@docthailand: I did some intensive training in the Philippines for a year and a half. 2 and a half hours a day 3-4 times a week. I went there for a few semesters at Silliman University. I wanted to learn Muay Thai so I did some asking around. At the corner of town, I found a small traditional gym. Once I started training, I fell in love with it. I had to return to the US 6 months ago and I really miss training.
@docthailand: ever since I got back I've had a really hard time looking for a traditional gym here in the US. I spent a month or so at a gym that does Dutch Muay Thai. Didn't really like it. They focused too much on cardio and did very little focus on technique. It's really hard to find a decent place to train. Everything is a "McDojo" or MMA gym that has a "thai boxing" program. They try to bind you with contracts. It's all red tape and politics. It's very frustrating.
