Games like unleashed, and that one with the 7 rings or something just didn't create the right sonic feel for fans. 2006 was sega's attempt of getting that sonic adventure feel back, but it didn't work out. As a sonic fan myself I have to agree that the old 2d ones were simply amazing. Especially sonic 3 and knuckles (first one I played). But least face it genesis lovers, sega has moved on. So then the next best thing came out, the "dreamcast era" as it is referred to now. With a rough start (sonic adventure) they really stepped their game up with sa2. Now that was pretty freakin awesome. Sonic heroes along with (shadow the hh) were pretty good but it seemed more like a game to test out a differe

Getting S-ranks is indeed easy, but that doesn't undermine the fun of the game. It's one of the most fun and polished Sonic games in a long while, and has a pretty classic level design style.

Too bad it looks like the online mode was tacked on, though.

@eduardoydo To complete the game is easy, of course. Every stage has an easy route, couple of secret routes and one insanely hard and fast route. The game is not designed like other sonic games. Like if you fall down in another sonic game, you die, here you land on another route - and loose time. Going for a sweet time in every stage is HARD.

@zaikozy Getting an S rank on every stage however is easy as hell. And surely a good rank should be rewarded for doing it with a good time with plenty of rings, where as this hands out an S rank for doing it in a mediocre time. This game in my opinion is pretty "meh". With that said it's still the best Sonic game they've released in a long time though, and it's certainly a step in the right direction. It's was also cheap on PC so I really don't regret buying it.

Unleashed at least tried a new engine, 06 was just a poor clone of SA1 with no speed, ridiculous storylines, bad controls, too many glitches and too few levels. So yes, Unleashed was average but it was massively superior to 06 due to the simple fact it wasn't a broken mess. The werehog stages are at least better than any of the stages involving Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Silver, Amy, Omega or Blaze.
