  • Something is really wrong about that title ! XD

  • Even he's voice gets like Clapton's.

  • @Daniel7cmr No shit Sherlock. That's the point.

  • wow so great funny !

  • Comment removed

  • @mbasketcballb I want to say it's from the Any Given Thursday DVD

  • @mbasketcballb it looks like from the any given thursday show, i could be wrong

  • wish there was a live video of this :D

  • not surprising he cops others, when he first came out years ago I really thought it was new dave matthews band (body is a wonderland), then found out it's some guy named John Mayer

  • I'm curious, why do you think he's a douche?

  • He is not making fun of Eric... he is friends with him and they play together often.. anyone saying he is making fun is a dumbass...

  • Mayer will NEVER fill in Eric Clapton's shoes. Yes, he is talented, but Eric Clapton is a living legend.

  • because there is no room for mayer now to be a legend,, but in me mayer is more great in guitar playing!!

  • @paonessa72

actually yes but, John is 32 and Eric 65 i think? So you know what i'm trying to say?

Mayer is the only guy who is successful in the mordern musicindustry with blues music. He is the most talented guy in my opinion, so lets give him a try and let us look what he is doing in 30 years ;)

  • @Maidenman0815 Word

  • @Maidenman0815 well he isn't the only one, artists like joe bonamassa are very successful with blues music. But yeah i really like mayer :)

  • Clapton and Mayer are good friends, John idolizes Eric and was paying tribute to Eric.

  • this is out of context if you listen to the whole thing its actually pretty funny

  • c'mn guys, imitation is the highest form of flattery

  • Wearing a dead person's corpse for wardrobe and pretending to be them for a day is the highest form of flattery.

  • pretty close at aparts. his virbrato isnt like erics though but what can ya do?

  • Lol that cant be Mayer

  • That is actually a remarkable impression... Until he suddenly turns into Elvis at about 0.33

  • ur an idiot.... hes imitating him... thats the whole point... and actually that sounds alot like him... seeing as ive sen him in concert twice

  • it sounds exactly like him it is crazy how close go and actually listen to eric clapton dumbass

  • Go and actually listen to Eric Clapton? I've been a diehard Clapton fan since like I was 11. I KNOW what he sounds like singing, and this isn't it! It may sound a little like his voice in Change the World, but overall, no. Clapton put a special edge to his voice for that song. That's what Mayer's impersonating. It doesn't sound like Clapton. Also, I'm just sick of John Mayer knocking off all of Clapton's songs. He needs to do his own music more.

  • um how is "go and actually listen to Eric Clapton?" a question? sense you where 11 so that would make you about 13 years old now...name all the songs he is knocking off please and i am really starting to question your intellegence after all your name is mustangman...lol fyi Mayer and Clapton are friends

  • Old Love, Crossroads, Broken Hearted, If I Could Change the World. Those are all the ones I know of. I'm not sure where you got the age 13 from, because my profile definitely says 19. As for the question part, I restated your statement in a question. You're hardly the one to question anybody's intelligence when you think that "sense" is "since." I'm not quite sure what you're getting at with my name. If its another "Mustangs suck" thing, spare me. I didn't capitalize it intentionally.

  • na i think he says the mustang thing because its not a strat and thats what clapton plays...and you only know 4 songs? plus one is with cream!

  • I only named four songs that I've heard Mayer cover. Here's a short list of Clapton's songs, or songs played by Clapton, limited only by Youtube: Wonderful Tonight, Back Home, River of Tears, Tears in Heaven, Pretending, Promises, Lay Down Sally, After Midnight, My Father's Eyes, Old Love, Motherless Child, Running on Faith, Cocaine, Crossroads, Edge of Darkness, Let it Grow, Layla (I consider it his song), Broken Hearted, Lonely Stranger, Before You Accuse Me, One Track Mind, No Alibis.....

  • I dig mayer, man... be nice to hear him and joe bonamassa plug in.

  • lol

    go mayer

  • at least it proves he can imitate clapton very very spot on :)

  • thats close i wounder if eric has heard it

  • this proves how very talented john mayer is

  • this IS mayer....he did it again in his concert here in melbourne...this dude rocks man

  • almost elvis at some spots. yet: Amazing. Dead on Clapton!

  • and Great Talent people meant as a musician not the way he acts

  • wow i think some people that are headed for jail or prison are having fantasies about johhnnnnnnnnny boy hahahahaha whose really queer someone who can laugh and have a good time and JOKE, like john mayer in general (GREAT TALENT) or someone that has to hate to try to bottle up those true "sexual feelings" because of the public views that surround, take a seat ric O zip and oh dont let the zip catch that overwhelming feeling you get from this video

  • That is actually a really good impression of Clapton. lol

  • guys, guys, guys. unless i see you in concert, please keep your rude comments to yourself. i happen to like john mayer, as do many talented artists. he played with clapton, do you think eric would argee unless he felt john had talent? no. so really can it.

and for the john mayer hater, why are you on his video?

  • Ok, neither of you are "tough guys" your argueing on the internet.

    Grow up.

  • Who cares about grammys and putting watered down blues to the public? Don't they give grammys to one hit wonders? Face it, you don't know anything about music. I believe your arguments are "bullshit", tough guy.

  • Obviously you do, because you keep replying.. haha

  • He plays with almost every great living blues guitarists. So what? Tell me something he has done to contribute to music by himself and what lasting impact he will leave. Don't tell me that he played with someone.

  • I forgot about this video, so thanks! Ten months later, I know more about Mayer and I still think he sucks! Open your eyes and close your mouth.

  • Wow!!~

  • ain"t that just like a copy cat, who does the real john mayer sound like? steve ray, eric? the world may never know...

  • The song is called

    Change the World

    It's on the album Pilgrim

  • wat song by clapton is this?

  • change the world... its from the travolta movie, phenomenon

  • I have this on my ipod (the full verstion). This IS John Mayer... not unless Barenaked Ladies played John Mayer sets...

  • I'm confused. Is this really John doing Clapton? If it is it sounds just like him!

  • Nope . . I've seen him do it at shows 6-7 years ago. I believe you're the one who is wrong.

  • i have the full mp3 of this...odd how he did d.m. right before this, then went into clapton...are you sure it's not john?

  • fantastic version of clapton mayer you champ!

  • whoa. that was incredible. he admits to stealing Claptons stuff, but that was ridiculous. A dead ringer!

  • It's amazing how ignorant a lot of the people on youtube are.

  • he didn't really sound to much like clapton

  • hey man, John /mayer has it all from POWERFUL SONG WRITING,to a GRAND voice and has all the guitaring firepower (even better than those in the past). He's an icon!

  • lmao

  • naw its clapton's song called change the world

  • is he just making up that song? if so its pretty good

  • look, everyone is begging to understand that with john's ability to play he's GOING to become a legend.. unless he doesnt want to. but anyone with his talent and his status can become a legend throughout the years.. deal with it

  • It just sucks everyone knows "Your Body is a Wonderland" John Mayer and not "Backing up Buddy Guy and B.B. King" John Mayer.

  • Thats pathetic that somebody would even insult John Mayer. He's one of the only good guitar players of that generation. I see some horrible ignorance.

  • Want I want to know is where is the rest of this audio? If Clapton was his last impersonation, I'd like to hear who else he "covered."

  • I downloaded this a long time ago on Morpheus. He covers Dave Matthews first, and it's pretty decent, but then he does an awesome impression of Shawn Mullins. It's just those three. It's funny, because Mayer was playing this in Atlanta, when Mullins was just getting big, and he said he didn't want to do it cause it was a hometown hero thing.

  • BOB

  • john mayer is ok but clapton is still the best

  • i cant believe this shit, john mayer a pop wannabe? you ignorants ! hes one of the best guitarists nowadays

  • Maybe due to the lack of mainstream guitarists that play solos.

  • John Mayer is up to par with my blues guitar player out there.

  • Shut up

  • "Shut up!" Dude, you must have a lot of inadequacy issues lining up the walls of your thin skull. You need to educate yourself. Maybe, quit whining so much about Mayer and practice your guitar some. Because John Mayer is so busy, how about I kick YOUR ass on the guitar?

  • Go read your tabs..adults are talking.

  • I've seen people play Greensleeves with more feeling than you did on "Oh Well". You managed to destroy a good song, Peter Green would be pretty pissed off. The comments for this video are better than the actual video. Thanks all for showing me how defensive John Mayer fans can get because they know he sucks!

  • How about YOU play it with some feeling...or some technique for that matter. John Mayer is a great guitar player. Whether it eats you up inside our not. Just like it eats you up inside that you can't touch what I do. Leave Greeny alone, he is one cool dude.

  • mayer shouldnt even be allowed to say clapton's name..... mayer is just a wannabe pop star

  • you crazy pop star lover!

  • have you even heard mayer play guitar?? he has played with b.b. king and other very good blues guitarists (along with clapton). dont be surprised if mayer is the clapton of this generation. hes already on his way...

  • so that's why mayer was invited to play at clapton's blues festival... because he's a wannabe pop star. i think i saw good charlotte there too. it all makes sense now...

  • i thought the same thing before i heard try! now listening to some of his "pop" albums its obvious he was making very good music even then, it was only a matter of time before he broke into the blues

  • Sorry, I don't generally discount opinins, but you're just ignorant if you'd make that kind of remark. The songs that have made Mayer famous are "poppy" (as Clapton's were when they first came out, for the record) but John Mayer is FAR from a pop star. He's probably one of the best guitarists alive, and you play guitar you'd know that. Pick up an acoustic and just TRY to learn HALF of Neon. Thank you, please come again.

Clapton and BB King don't play with just anyone.

  • Wrong. He became popular from playing very straight pure blues numbers in the Yardbirds. He left because they were getting poppy. Good try and don't give me the "if you would play guitar" because I do play guitar. I'm supposed to respect a guitarist because he has played with other well-known guitar players?

  • (a) Clapton did not become famous playing with the Yardbirds - they had their first hit the year he left. His fame came well after that.

    (b) The Yardbirds sound, albeit blues influenced, was no more "pure blues numbers" than much of Mayer's. Listen to Try!.

    (c) Yes, you should absolutely respect a guitarist by the people with whom he or she is invited to play. Legendary musicians do not invite hacks to play with them.

  • (a) Clapton first became famous with the Yardbirds, then became very well known in the Bluesbreakers, hence the "Clapton is God" graffiti on the wall.

    (b) Wrong. I have some of the yardbird's albums and it was straightforward. Their live album with Clapton features straight 12 bar blues and extended harmonica solos from Keith Relf and typical blues solos with a Claptonesque edge. Maybe you listen to it....

    (c) Clapton has gotten cenile.

  • hahahahahah funny and amazing at the same time!!!

    what a talented guy
