  • this guys sez feet should be shoulder width.. that's sholder width?!? looks like couldnl't possiblt be any wider.. no stronger lower body involvement, just weaker upper half arms/shoulder swinging..bad.

  • I'll use that technique in my game tomorrow... Looks like it works

  • Thank you. You got me my swing back.

  • Guys, there is no best way to hit a ball... There aren't two hitters in the Majors who hit the same, but still, they're better than all of you. Stop complaining.

  • @MrPaulBaseball there are natural laws that rule everything, including baseball players.1st, every action has an equal but opposite reaction.every action has a consequence, some good some bad. so to say there is not one best way to hit, is wrongwrongwrong.every action is either better or worse than another.so you work your way to the best action.if you can't get a grip on this concept, you will never improve to be your best period

  • Since no one else is, I'll be the truthful one. I'm 18 and my fastball is about 80 mph with a tad bit of upward action. My curveball sweeps but isn't really a reliable pitch, and my change-up finds the dirt more than the glove.

  • im 12 and i throw 67 mph

  • this video is so boring <3 :(

  • try not to drive your hips forward so early. you lose power that way

  • obviously you are very young.YES THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY:THE BEST WAY!! HELLO?!?the trick is to determine what is best:evaluate everything in the stance & swing in relation to whether it increases BATSPEED.you will come up with a fairly focused tight set of position/location parameters within a fairly small dimensional limitations.when you deviate from this, you decrease your batspeed.extreme body sizes/shapes are rare, the adjustment minor.only way:do things that maximize batspeed.open your mind

  • The only thing I don't like about the video is that the arm slot is more smooth if you end higher. It also helps with beating a habit of one handing swing if you finish with your hands right over your shoulder and bat on your back. This is like a power swing video. But his stance looks good though, wish he'd actually swing the bat to see the product though

  • :@rapidoregon23 "ending higher" means you have an uppercut swing.bad.in terms of physics, the longest hit ball occurs on a pitch knee high inner half. you drop the head of the bat on the ball..hit it right on the button,,drive it out rather than off the top half of the bat, which makes it go up.the more frequently this happens, the more hits you will get.when pitches are in other locations, you put a different swing on the ball..it goes other places.every pitch/swing is different

  • Im 16 and havent played baseball in 6 years haha but what the hell I'm going for it. I need hitting tips more than anything else. I'm right handed and my main strength is speed so I dont plan on dropping bombs

  • good fundamental video to correct a swing. thanks have a link to refer kids to watch a video

  • @123getithere

look at this poor fool's base.. if it was any wider, he would fall over! couldn't generate less lower body torque if he were sitting on a barstool..BAD. listen to his lame excuse for not having a shorter base.printed guide sez " feet shoulder width" but he's WAY beyond that. no lower body torque whatsoever. bad. all arms/shoulders,. "you don't have to step. just pick your foot & put it down"? where does your forward body motion come from? this guy.. lost in space

  • great vid

  • im 14 and i can throw 85-89

  • Yo I'm only 10 & I've gotten 1 perfect game & I'm not even a pitcher I'm a catcher that can throw 65-67

  • haha 1:43-1:55 = that's what she said

  • this video sucks. no power with this swing get a new job cause youre not a very good coach

  • Not very good advice...

  • i cant even believe that this is the first video to come up when you type in "hitting mechanics." Any kids out there trying to learn how to hit should not listen to anything this guy says if you want to play the game past the age of 12. First of all, this guys hips are flying open way before his hands. your hands and hips are supposed to fire at the same time and explode through the ball with as much torque as possible...at the same time, along with your weight.

  • @Hayscountyboys youre wrong. torque in hitting is the distance from hands to front knee, the greater the distance, the greater the torque. its whip action, better elasticity makes a better swing

  • @bobbith246 wrong. torque's definition does not change in hitting. the torque is related to the amount of energy and power you put into the swing. although you do get torque from your hands, it is not the only aspect of it. your power comes from your lower half and the only way to use that with as much power as possible is to fire your hips at the same time as your hands, delivering every part of your swing to the ball at the same time.

  • @bobbith246 yes thank you. you've got the idea. Its all about staying flat through the ball and getting as much torque as possible. You can look at any of the greater pros, none of them hit down through the ball like you did bud. So people, if you need proof, go and slow down on of Albert Pujols's swings. Notice the coil, wrinkle in the right hip in the load. Notice the hands go back as the knee goes forward. It is a battle between the hips and the knee when he drives his knee. His bat...

  • gets FLAT before he crosses the strike zone and uses the 'ore lock' motion. And he finishes through the ball.

  • shitty

  • Ur swing is all shoulders no hands

  • i can pitch 60 mph at 11. is that good?

  • @Jimmd0 BS

  • @bulldawgbuzz i asked if it was good or not

  • @Jimmd0 I don't believe you CAN pitch that fast.

  • @Jimmd0 no

  • @Jimmd0 I was able to do that, now at 14 I can throw over 300 feet. u got a good arm kid

  • @Jimmd0 Well, that might be a slight overestimation. But, it could be possible, at 10, we clocked my little brother at 51, and he was the youngest kid in the league. But he threw a perfect game against the #2 team in his league, out of 12 teams.

  • I'm not saying this is wrong, because its up to the hitter's preference. But this would not work for me. This is way off of what I use,

  • @breakingbank1997

"preference"has no relation to the natural laws of logic & physics that govern everything on this planet..even baseball players. hard to believe, but true."preference" is what gets players in trouble. you must align yourself correctly, & utilize the stronger lower half of your body rather than the weaker upper half. this guy is all arms/shoulders. no forward motion.no lowre body torque.less-than-maximum batspeed being generated. underachieving.

  • i tried to use a swing kind of like this in my game, and it really worked for me, check out the video!

  • nice

  • Thanks this helped alot

  • your batting stance it up to u. this guy is a retard

  • @englehart121 Yes a stance is up to the hitter, but there are general swing mechanics that everyone should use though.

  • @ryoungblood80 EVERYthing you do EVERYday in your life has an influence on what happens.including baseball.some is good, some is bad.there are 2 parts to mechanics.stance & swing. EVERYthing you do once you get in the box has an influence on performance success. stance will definitely be factor in your success.to think otherwise is to refuse to learn. learn.

  • @kingcoach13 Stance is important, but there isn't "one perfect" starting stance. It's all on the players preference. Tell me Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols had the same stance.

  • @ryoungblood80 SUBjective style rather than a 2nd OBjective point of view is what kills players.pjuols/bonds are superior, but EVERYone can be better.you must realize no matter who you are,you must re-evaluate & adjust.bonds slid out of mlb,so will pujols.there IS a perfect stance location where you put good wood on the ball if it's in strike zone.also perfect placement of feet, hips, shoulders, hands maximize batspeed.strive for perfect to be your best.never be satisfied

  • @kingcoach13 I agree that each player has a perfect stance they can attain, but for each player that stance will be different. That is the truth. You can look at every "professional" baseball players stance and they will all be different. However, while they all have differences, they will all have similarities. There isn't a black and white perfect stance. Each one has some grey area that suits the individual better.

  • @ryoungblood80 these readily identifiable differences between lesser hitters & better hitters is the problem.when you deviate from certain parameters your batspeed is decreased.such as wide based open stances.hitters such as adrian beltre are much tougher outs with a shorter based closed stance.these differences are the very things that kill lotsa hitters.lose the "it's ok to have your own SUBjective individual style of stance/swing."EVERY action has an effect on performance

  • @kingcoach13 Look at Pujols stance dude. Are you blind? The best hitter in the game has an open while Barry Bonds had a closed stance. So two of the best hitters in the game for the past 10 years had their own and completely opposite styles and yet you are still persistent. Say what you want, I'll believe what I've seen and what my old batting coach taught me. He played for the Pirates. Professionals > youtube guy

  • @ryoungblood80 faulty logic to assume albert's style is goiing to work for any/everyone else.he's a great hitter because of his extraordinary hand-eye skills. he has holes in both his stance & swing.he gets jobbed just like everyone else. he fails 7 times out of 10.he has 700K.if you could ask him, he would say he's not sarisfied. you think his way cannot possibly be better.wrong.opposite styles work, but as good as they could.otherwise.you can't defy logic & mechanical physics

  • @ryoungblood80 ask coach.he'll say he's still learning long after he quit.when you think you know it all, you're done.coaches/players are so out-of-touch with the natural laws of logic & physics that rule everything on this planet.they take a SUBjective approach, constructing their stance/swing in a vacuum, instead of thinking in terms of maximizing batspeed.& reacting to what the pitcher is trying to do to them.a 2nd unbiased view from another angle helps more than anything. try it

  • @ryoungblood80 let coach read this.you get a bad result, you did something wrong.if mlb players fail to get a hit 3 times out of 4,that's alotta wrong things they're doing.the trick is to figure out what,&why, then adjust.this is where they fall on their face. they won't admit when they're wrong,(see adam dung) since they're not wrong, why should they change?pay's the same.every mlb player is his own worst enemy.he engages in self-defeating actions he refuses to admit are killing him

  • @kingcoach13 Never said the stance Pujols uses works for everyone, that's faulty reading. Nobody should ever be satisfied, but different body structures make different stances. What you are saying is there is only one correct way to do it, and that is faulty logic.

  • @englehart121 read what i wrote above.

  • i bet ill beat all of you in baseball

  • you sir are flying open too early

  • Thanks for helping me not fail gym . :]

  • The fastball in 12U will stop. In fact, most pitchers in HS seldom throw fastballs. Anyone can hit a fastball with good timing (not perfect) and hand and eye coordination. The batting cages do absoutely no good to perfect a hitter that needs to prepare for off pitches. Take it for what it is worth. There is more to this. talk to a HS coach and he will explain it more if he's nice.

  • @txcritic ok, i am not saying that i dont think you have ever coached baseball but to say this guy is teaching all the wrong things makes me think otherwise. and were i live kids in HS throw fastball all the time. trust me a well placed fast ball with the right velocity can strike out any player at any level

  • you'll notice that the swings are very similar in all cases but the styles or pre-swings have a lot of variations. Watch all the pros and you will see that they have the same swing mechanics. The stands does not mean nothing. It's getting that front foot out and the hands relaxed to come out fast and explode in front. As kids get older and play JR's, 60/90 ball, they are going to have to learn to hit all kinds of pitches.

  • The pre-swing is anything that is done all the way to toe touch (when the batter steps forward and that the toes of the front foot make contact with the ground). The swing starts at heel plant (when the batter's front heel makes contact with the ground after toe touch).

The problem is that what we mostly see with naked eyes is the style because the swing itself happens so fast that we can't really see it but if you put any elite hitter side-by-side in slow motion whether baseball or softball,

  • . Don't be mislead with guys like this. Here's out it goes. I coached HS ball and every HS coach teaches the power L hitting tecnique. Your stands coach has nothing to do with effective hitters. In fact, I'll bet you must be from TX, because every amateur hitter like you teaches this same rediculous technique. It comes down to this. Trust me. The style is what a hitter does before he or she swings or the pre-swing if you want.

  • @txcritic

The two crucial elements in hitting in my years of Scouting is The Pre-pitch movement which TxCritic i believe is alluding to , it is paramount in attaining any level of success at the dish. And number two, going to the plate with a plan. You have to have a plan or you've lost half the battle.

  • Coach: Do you charge for hitting lessons? I am not going to argue. But, this is a prime example of hitting instructors that are teaching wrong fundamentals. If you buy into this in your local area and are paying for hitting lessons, then I have some ocean front property in Arizona that I will sell at a good price.

  • @txcritic bad coaching is like dog-droppings: you can't take 3 steps without stepping on one.

  • that helped me alot thanks.

  • løl_añYØñé_waÑñâ_chAt_wìth_mE_Î_fÈËl_sø_loÑElý_tÕdAý!

  • thank you so much i was in the worst slump i have ever been in becuase my coaches keep telling me to do differnt things when i was swinging but this really helped.

  • Pushing down are your back leg or front i've heard of pushing on the front leg can you clear that up?

  • this video is going to help me alot thanks for th tips

  • im not trying to sound like i think i know more than you because i dont but my baseball coaches have always told me to keep 2 hands on the bat until it touches your shoulder after the follow through

  • @stevex18z to do otherwise is stylin' for the cmaeras. all the way around guarantees your bat will continue to accelerate thru impact. that's what superior hitters do.

  • @kingcoach13 yeah thats what i was saying

  • thanks that helps

p,s, im not a very good hitter

  • really interesting and I learned alot

  • Watch Michael Robles - switch hitter - The dude explodes on the ball!

  • Your follow through is way off. You need to extend through the ball and also your in a weak position at contact.

  • how does he exactly do it when he pivots his back foot?

  • check out this baseball blog: thebaseballjungle.blogpsot.com

  • Woggydoggy u hav no concept of hitting

  • u dont stride you coil and uncoil..if you dont cock your hands and hips you might as well play ping pong

  • Also be flexible with your lower body and lean on the ball...Pujols + Boggs.

  • the way to hit consistent mashes on the ground or on a line and to stay away from fly balls and popups is the following...hands pass with your trailing elbow as close to your midsection with with your shoulder turned in...you then chop down with your top hand and be long after the ball. That is the best way to make consistent extremely hard contact.

I have heard a stiff or firm front leg...it is important that is felt at the exact same time your top hand starts to turn over...at contact.

  • @DanPlessefromStJames

How does swinging with your arms and with artificially produced movement produce extremely hard contact? I doesn't.

I am going to argue you don't understand what movement even is, let alone where movement comes from. You can look at what somebody appears to be doing with their body, but until you understand the source of that movement (Which is the mind) you cannot replicate the cause of the movement. What you see in a hitter is an effect, not the cause of a swing.

  • aboveallcrackers you need to get your lead shoulder turned in as much as you can and get that bat handle by your ear.

Also in general I advocate keeping your eyes on the strike zone, not the ball.

If you can´t see it, don´t swing...follow the ball into the glove when you are not swinging after it passes you. Everything happens on the balls of your feet.

  • swing strengthener. com

  • great vid coach thank you!!

  • im a 15 years old now and i was wondering what a good bat speed is for me, i remember when i was 13 i was measured hitting off a tee at 73MPH max, now im not like a huge giaganitc freak kid, i was like 5'6 and 165lbs. i was just wonderin if that is a good bat speed for 13, i havent been measured since then but ive been hitting the ball a lot harder since so im asking

  • @LeBronMIA6 You increase bat speed by good mechanics. 73 MPH isnt bad, but if you pull back on your top hand (towards your back shoulder),as your stride foot is going forward you will create a great load position and higher bat speed(10-12 MPH).In other words, as your swing begins with your lead hip starting the swing and you begin rotation, your top hand is still going backwards towards the back shoulder as your body is roating. this will allow you to generate tremendous bat speed very early.

  • @Maximumbatspeed yes and then u get the step and load posistion, and then if you get that in one fluid motion u get really good rotational hitting

  • what do you mean "the inside of the body." And they have turned out All-Americans, Under Armour Elites, and Division One ball players. A lot of them get drafted.

  • @purplefluid109876543

Give me some testimonials from some Major League Hitters confirming this.

What you see with your eyes in the outside of the body (Meaning the skin and the structure your eyes can see) does not tell you a damn thing about what the inside of the body (Does all the work, but you can't see it) is doing. Taking what the outside of the body appears to be and copying it, won't make the inside of the body work to its maximum efficiency. Hence mechanics don't work. Mind = Movement

  • @SadegoGG Guys, strikes and balls thats what it is all about...swing at strikes and be in good enough shape that you want to get on base and score a run every time you hit.

  • @DanPlessefromStJames no disrespect but this is about mechanics not obvious information.

  • @purplefluid109876543

You can try to argue that what the eyes see in the outside of the hitter's body sees has anything to do with the hitter's movement and the work done by the inside of the body...but you won't get a single scientist in the field of human kinetics to back you up.

  • Sounds good. Pretty general, but for the beginner, pretty decent. would like to have some hitting conversations on the hands following the hips, and also the best way to use your lower half. We start talking about force and gravity throughout a swing, the hips need to rotate at or through contact, not before. What you see, is a drive of the backside as the hands initiate, not rotation.

  • @Cowboy8146

    1) I suggest the best way to use the lower half of the body would be naturally, in a way which you can generate maximum force and it can be generated into centripetal force through the kinetic link.

    2) What you see is not the hands or the hips working. Body is working as a whole in a natural way (Assuming we are discussing a professional hitter). Body is a symptom of movement. This movement is initiated by a desire in the mind. You are seeing the effect of a hitter's desire.

  • @Cowboy8146

When you begin discussing what the hands, hips, legs, etc... do you are making no sense. You are violating the laws of movement. Its like breaking down each frame your eyes see from a body in your walking and emulating them. You will walk unnaturally, hence it will be awkward. Programming unnatural movements into the subconscious minds of hitters will make them worst hitters, not better hitters.

  • @Cowboy8146

When a baseball coach teaches hitting mechanics what they are doing is:

    1) They use there eyes to look at what the outside of the body is doing. The outside of the body is the effect of the hitter's mind and the work of the inside of the hitter's body.

    2) They are teaching this symptom of a hitter's mind to change there player's swings so they become unnatural.

    3) The inside of the body in a professional and the player are completely different.

    4) The player doesn't get any better.

  • Why dont you guys play a reall sport thats hard. Instead of playing baseball theres nothing physically hard about it maybe running from home to first base but thats it

  • @dman3472 Why dont you get off a video made for people who play baseball? Oh thats right! You dont have a life. So you just go around talking crap about baseball.

  • Coach, stick to pitching. You are getting stuck on your back leg, you get no weight shift, and you roll your hands off the ball like a slow-pitch softball player. You are an out. The only positive thing I can say is you have a much better idea than the clowns who have commented before me. It goes to show a little knowledge can be dangerous.

  • I am sorry to inform you, but the way you teach does not develop any early bat speed. If you compare your teaching theory on this video to, say, Dustin Pedroia or Albert pujols or any top MLB hitter, you will see that your technique compared to theirs is so different. Why? Because in order to be a successful hitter, you must not allow your hands to go in the path you teach. Good luck though!

  • @Maximumbatspeed Really? And what is Dustin Pedroia's theory? Keep your mouth shut. This guy doen't know hitting but I'm positive you know less. Listen more, type less.

  • Hey coach my name is leroy, im 16 and i've been playing baseball since my freshmen year of high school im now a pitcher but even so i still cant seem to hit the ball all to often, my coach says i swing too late but idk can u help

  • Hi im David and i play high school baseball.. my coach was telling me that i have amazing power and im a very good hitter but however i do have some small problems.. right after i load and the ball is coming towards me i tend to move my leg to my left( im a right hander hitter). but this only occurs on inside pitches. what type of techniques can help me handle inside pitches?

  • Look at the old hitters like babe and Ted Williams that's how r really suppose to hit the best hitters r the first hitters to play this amazing game

  • i got a baseball game today for the playoff's dame lol i need the best instructions i can get im 5th in the batting order and ready to nail the s**t out of it lol

  • You can watch all pros, they let the ball get super deep. You don't hit through the ball either. My dad has talked to a guy on the Astros and this guy said he torques meaning your hands go back and that back elbow should stay back as long as possible. Theres no leg drive either. Look up Dustin pedroia,he has a great swing.

  • @thesborrego1 I agree. There is no leg drive, but plenty of lower body rotation once the stride foot lands. And yes, Dustin Pedroia is definately a top MLB hitter with great mechanics. Great job on this post sborrego!

  • I am a baseball instructor in Las Vegas. This is one of the better instructional clips on youtube. Very basic. Easy to understand. And works for all ages and skill levels. Nice job.

  • @vegasgolf25

How is breaking down individual movements of the body to be consciously implemented into a swing artificially in hopes of maximizing the amount of power distributed along the inside of one's body (Movement patterns that top scientists can't even begin to understand) a simple way to teach hitting when proper utilization of the mind can break down an entire swing into one movement (It will look like a professional swing too).

Mind is movement, body is a symptom of movement.

  • Fella's,

Acquire the smartest hitter of all times "TED WILLIAMS," book, THE SCIENCE OF HITTING," read and study the picture diagrams very closely and learn what good consistent hard contact hitting to all fields with power is all about he personally, mentally and physically defeated the field shift opposing managers confronted him with, as most any batter can also accomplish.

Good hitting approach to the baseball is a combination of rotational and linear body movements.

    kom_ervin@yahoo.com

  • @donervin1

Ted Williams has not developed a single pro hitter. Neither has Epstein.

Also, please explain to me how you can conclude that body is movement? Isn't that the premise that all mechanics are built upon?

  • @SadegoGG Ted Williams and Mike Epstein developed the proper way to hit. They may not have "developed" pro-hitters, but all the pro-hitters use rotational hitting. I dont see MLB players using this guys idea of how a baseball should be hit. so go jump in a lake.

I hope this guy is not a coach. Good luck hitting the ball with one chance. Your swing plane is like not even 6 inches. and you have no momentum built up to get the ball farther than out of the infield.

  • @purplefluid109876543

Mike Epstein and Ted Williams came up with an explanation of what the human eyes see in a hitter when they hit. This has absolutely nothing to do with how the hit or how they produce their movements. This is why no rotational hitting coach has ever developed an average high school hitter into a professional hitter. Its because by taking what your eyes see and matching the outside of a player's body you produce artificial movements and the inside of the body doesn't work.

  • @SadegoGG Why do you comment on literally every video? I've looked at your channel and everyone seems to hate you. I do agree in the mental approach you bring like the movement stuff and the different feelings that hitters try to create with thoughts but you have like no videos or nothing else then words to try to explain your points. Still you need basic mechanics to swing a bat. You're saying if you get a feeling you can tomahawk or having a long, loopy swing but it's OK, you have that feeling

  • @erickwizgod

What I am saying its the mental activity that causes the mechanics. You need absolutely no conscious though on mechanics. When the mind is producing movement naturally, the swing you see in major league hitters is made automatically. When you see things like loopy swings, you are seeing an artificial (unnatural) swing.

I'll send you a PM addressing your next post...bear with me as i'm busy this time of year.

  • Hey my name is jake and i have a problem with hitting.I cant seem to hit the outside corner of the plate.I scoot up to the box as far as i can but i cant seem to hit it.Any Advise

  • @PerfectGame966.... Jake, try not to change position in the batters box. What you have to learn is to let the ball travel farther into the hitting zone. Try to make contact almost at the middle of your stance instead of out in front. The technical part of the swing really doesn't change. You still use your legs and keep you hands inside the ball. Hope this helps just a little bit.

  • good video!

  • hey kids quit asking this guy questions!!! he has the right idea, but to many flaws that wil f yiur swing up.

  • when i swing. somehow ive gotten into the habit of pulling my should and just rolling over out side pitches and curve balls. is there any drill or anything that could break that habit?

  • hi, my name is time & im an alcoholic

    (sorry)

  • A lot of hitting is preference, like stance and load up (though generally, the whole 80-20 load is where you want to be). But for the love of God, keep your hands inside the ball. This man is a genius.

  • is this rotational hitting?

  • Don't think ahead ... Just see every pitch and take the ones that u like

  • hi my name is jordan and i play babe ruth baseball and i can never seem to hit the ball consistent. is there anything that i can do to be more consistent?

  • Hi Im Bob and im 16 and I hit to many many homers and im the best. any help?

  • @Actionyaction, make sure to take steroids so you can become the VERY best.

  • Hey coach, my name is zach, I'm 15 years old, I play highschool ball, and I'm 6'5. For some reason, when I swing when the ball is coming, it seems as if I can't reach it, I don't know why. Is there are stance that is good for a tall guy like me?

  • @NaTuRaLxFrag maybe a longer bat. not really a stance to use because then there is no power in your swing and chances are you will be uncomfortable.

  • Hey coach i have a question. I seem to have spikes of hitting. One week im the best hitter on the team. The next im one of the worst. I know everyone goes through slumps, but what are the keys to staying consistent. Also, my two big problems seem to be 1. Being too early and 2. Getting under the ball. What can I do to improve on that?

  • no reason to turn toward the catcher when you load, you will only make your swing longer and get jammed more often on inside pitches.

  • Im about to start playing highschool baseball next year, i have a good natural swing but never really had a coach on how to swing or what to change in my swing. I can hit over 300 on a nice hit but i find myself hitting a lot of ground balls. Why is this and how do i fix it? What drills would be good?

  • Comment removed

  • Very informative video that I can relay to my son. Anyone have ideas on training a 6-7 year old for batting, catching and throwing?

  • This is one of the best videos of hitting I have seen. Thanks so much for your help

  • for you people that are pulling your head, best practice is a tee, Beacause Tees arent only for little kids!!!

  • I keep trying to hit the longball and keep dropping and shoulder and end up popping the ball whats a good drill to fix this

  • This is back leg hitting, you should hit off your front leg..

  • hey coach... im playin baseball next year as a junior in high school. At the moment im in a summer team. We were working on hitting and i was told turn when right when i swing and not before. what do i do to fix this??

  • i keep seeming to drop my should when i swing what can i do so that when i swing through i am not going to drop my shoulder because i get under the ball to much

  • @VikingsAP24 To not drop your shoulder use a tee. if u use the tee a lot then u will build up a habbit of not dropping your shoulder because it is almost impossible to hit a ball of a tee if you drop your shoulder

  • hey im 14 and im on an elite team i was hitting over .400 last year and i seem to have lost my touch and i have been struggleing...So when im hitting i always hit them to 3rd or short but there always slow dribblers and they always hit off the end of the bat im wondering if im too far in front or what do u think?

  • @lilrip2123 i had the same problem your hips are flying open when you swing causing you to spin off the ball and hit off the end of the bat or miss it completely this problem is fixed by working on hitting the ball away on the tee when you master that you move to the cages and you set up the machine to throw away when start consistenly hitting line drives the opposite way move to the baseball field with somebody throwing to you and that will bring everything together you will have to recognize

  • @lilrip2123 the pitch is away and let the pitch get deep on you and stay closed when you bring your hands through the zone and hit the ball to the opposite field and if you are having trouble putting all together when somebody is pitching to on the field trying swinging at 70% and just concentrating on your mechanics and you should find it is a lot easier to hit the ball away

  • what should be your weight distribution when your swing is driving through the zone

  • When do you step??when hes about to throw the ball??or after he throws it??

  • @kaizen05 Most strides will happen once you pick up the baseball in the pitcher's hand right around his ear. By the time you begin your stride, the ball will be on its way to the plate. Just make sure your front foot gets down before you start your stride!

  • I am having trouble timing my load... it seems whenever i load it is to late.... but when i load early i feel like i have lost my power and off balance and i dont know what has happened i have been a great hitter all my life then suddenly one year i am half way throgh the season and still stuggling.... sny help? Please?

  • @atmbob78 Your load should be a small, controllable weight shift. Perhaps you're "loading" or putting too much weight on your back leg. Try keeping your load to a 60/40 ratio.

  • Hey i am 14 year old freshmen on my varsity but i my coach always puts a pinch hitter for me all the time because he says that i go around to the ball and always strike out lol. thanx i hope this vid helps me out

  • Thanks for the tips. I'm going to use this for my game tonight.

  • Great tips coach and The way you keep your hands in and the back elbow in is the correct way.I have found if younger hitters at start keep the back elbow on the same plane as the front elbow they are a liitle quicker to the ball.

  • Hi my names michael i play baseball and im 12 im on an aau team too. my problem is i try to hit homeruns and i cant. should i thorw my body into the ball or should i just keep my weight back on my back foot the whole swing?

  • @skateny123 As you rotate your back foot, knee and hip into the ball, your energy and weight will transfer into your swing as long as you keep a firm front leg. You should never "throw" all your weight forward into the ball, you'll end up lunging.

  • @CoachCorral38

Can you explain to me how I can consciously rotate my back leg, knee, etc.. so that my body rotates around multiple times? Because if my body doesn't rotate multiple times i'm not actually utilizing centripetal force.

I can't see how any of these mechanics can cause proper kinetic link as defined by modern human kinetics.

  • @skateny123 Michael you should never throw ur body into the ball infact, you want to do the complete opposite Hitting the ball with distance is all about bat speed. lungeing towards the ball loses most of ur bat speed and balance. 1st step is to pivot ur leg, then fire ur hips with ur hands symmetrical (Keeps hands inside!) and follow through so wat u really want to do is keep ur weight back at wait as long as u can to hit the ball to create lag the longer the lag the faster ur bat speed will be

  • hi.. my name is austin i play highschool baseball and i seem to drop my shoulder also.. i also pull the ball to much my coach tells me that i would be a better hitter if i worked on going to the opposite field what is a good drill to help me go the other way..

  • @poleclimber23 Set a batting tee up and line up the ball with your zipper or back hip, slightly away from your body as if its an outside pitch. Take your stride and swing, remembering to keep your hands inside the ball. You'll develop a confidence in letting the ball get deep and taking the outside pitch to the opposite field.

  • hey im jared i play high schoool baseball and i seem to turn my head often what do u think is the best drill for me! please help
