Having the TV rise rather than the shelf that hides it seems like a more efficient use of space. But I think an entertainment center cabinet should be expected to have the following:
1. Grilles in all of the front panels (possibly with swap-able solid inserts) to allow remote controlled equipment and speakers to be put anywhere.
2. Casters and removable back panels to make cabling easier.
Without these, most "entertainment center" cabinets seem like glorified bookshelves and credenzas.
The entire time I watched it go up, I thought of the Spongebob episode where the burger zooms to the camera, and the announcer goes: "Dun, dun dun dun dun dun dun DUN, DUN, DUN DABBITY DABBITY DUBIITY DUM."
i just dont see the point as the cabinet is destroyed so you cant use the drawings and now instead of the size of the tv it takes like 5 times bigger space
If this was for the bedroom then it's adequate. However, if it's for the living room, I'd like something that would allow components to be placed inside and still be usable. Not to mention, keeping those same items cool.
next you should have a big arm built on so anybody that can see this happening will get slapped accross the face...... so they know they are not dreaming.
This is a very good idea, What probably would be best is a much larger cabinet so the drawers can be shortened and thus functional, and for anyone who says its slow, you are wrong, would you have your tv come up, or come up while the whole thing shakes and thus have a possiblity of it breaking.
The ready-to-assemble cabinet cost about $450, the TV Lift costs just under $500, and random screws and such that most people have hanging around. Not much experience needed, just a bit of general building knowledge.
well good cause this ones slow as heck.! i bet it gets anoying when you try to see something right away and the things being all extra slow and crap.!

Isn't the cabinet lid scratching the top part of the tv while it pops up? I rather prefer those kits that pop up along with the lid.

waiting for the tv would just draw my attention to how fucking ugly the pine cabinet is
jolianthom 3 months ago
I wouldn't place that in front of my wall thermostat. The heat from the TV will either keep your AC running or your heat off.

Nice job, if it was a little faster I would't mind. Or I''d just mount it and wire it into the wall instead.

That's kinda cool, but it rises so slowly. And you can't fit anything in the drawers. And why the hell would you want to hide your TV anyway?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
if any N***ERS come to your house you just hide your tv so they dont steal it

Its not so much hiding your unit...but If you have a projector screen and a plazma, you can use the same room with both aplications...
