There's gold RIGHT THERE in that river. Pan a bit while you don't fish...because the second you cast you land a fish. Used to have stick/river rock home run derby's there! haha.
you bush pilots have all the fun,LOL, i love it, great video...and to those who dont understand, sometimes people need things, and they choose to live in these areas and even in this day and age, theres not always nice smooth pavement. long live bush pilots
Sorry to burst your bubble but this approach was way way right increasing ground roll, and reducing options. This approach should be made from the left most side of the canyon. Nevertheless, a truly great video, narrative, and professional production worth publication. Hope you fellows make more. Best, GW
PS The 180 Skywagon that crashed had gear leg failure on touch down and intentionally flipped it when he ran out of runway. A fine pilot.
Actually I was thinking the approach was too high, the pilot dropped the nose to make the runway, hense the 60 knott touchdown. Still not bad for first time there.
He was high & hot because he had minimal time to prepare and make his go-abort decision. If he'd flown his approach to the left side of the canyon he'd have had plenty of time to get on a good glide path and on airspeed. When I last landed WB I crossed the threshold 62kts on airspeed and still stopped halfway up the runway. Landing in a back county airstrip for the first time one needs maximize good options with his chosen flight path and approach.
Wow, what a video. From Jim Massey/Miller, Indiana. Caught your video from the Wirt reunion page. Glad I wasn't there with you when you were landing, you would've had to take me to the hospital to get my heart going again. Later
I think the video is really great, But why would anyone want to put themself there passengers and there aircraft at risk like that. Guess I don,t get it but the video was very well done..

This Maule is a taildragger or not? because I think that the M7 is a taildragger and the MT7 is the nosewheel version.

This one is a tail dragger, they said they nosed over when they stopped. Nose over isnt really a big deal in a tricycle gear.
