  • Hi,

In IA mode can you get 16:9 aspect ratio at 9m ?

I can only get 16:9 aspect ratio in IA mode at 2m...I have to goto normal mode to get the desired 16:9 with the maximum 9m pixels, is that correct?

    Thanks for the excellent demonstration.

  • @artlinkzowey ,Yes that's correct I think the Panasonic logic is that you only need 2M pixels to create a still for inclusion in a movie, even at full HD at this 16:9 Format and this gives you the 21.4 times zoom without loss of detail. A great feature. If you want full 9m at 16:9 then yes picture mode is teh only option but you are stuck at 12x zoom. Depends what you want the image for. I shoot at 9m and prefer to do the zoom in my edit software - leaves me more options for framing etc. Thanks

  • @ghough12 Thanks.

  • nice

  • Thanks graham for your reply, think i have the basic knowledge its just putting it into practice and getting use to all the different software i have, was just trying tmpg4.7 and imtoo video converter when you mentioned the aspect of the stills lol.guna do a remake of a video i acidently deleted with some stills in 16:9 9m and 6m and 2m..

  • Craig, here's what works for me on the TZ7 with limited manual operation. Set dial to camera icon menu picture size 9m quality double line jpeg aspect 16:9 intellegent iso - set to iso max 400 auto white balance AF mode multi point ( 3rd down) pre -af Q-af metering mode (.) top option i.exposure - on and that's it for most of the settings you can set up myscene1 and myscene2 with different options say centre weighted metering Practice with these settings and you will see a result
  • thanks for this pleasantly surprised how good the picture is at only 2m:-).not sure how the time line zoom works.ok now we can go on forever cos i have another question could you give me a brief discreption of what settings would be best in manual mode ie iso max etc thanks craig

  • The time line zoom is in editors like sony vegas and others which allow you to zoom in on the frame. Some allow fixed aspect ratio others allow you to distort by stretching either height or width. Tou can also zoom in and then pan around the scene using markers. Is this facility in powerdirector?

  • Craig, just another thought. remember pushing up the iso is like turning up the volume control on a distant radio station, sure you hear the station however you also hear background hiss. This is what iso increase does to video. It changes the analogue gain of the camera cmos imaging chip before it is digitised. So we get electronic noise introduced into the picture. Limiting to iso 400 is still maintaining enough speed and little noise. Scene modes adjust curves - but you can do that in photosh
