I admire the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for their proactive approach to lobbying for our industry, their educational programs to help us continue to elevate our profession, and their concern for the homeowners of America.
As a member and volunteer, I think it is great that the Greater Phoenix NARI is putting their networking and educational muscle behind this training program.
We are not the EPA. We're only offering a class for you to become a Certified Renovator as required by the EPA. I think the problem will come when the consumer decides to Turn You In or not pay you. Please reconsider your position. I think the class is helpful and will help you to avoid problems.
consider this: the EPA is going to be auditing you...if you aren't complying, then they will know. Other contractors who DO get certified will turn you in QUICK (trust me).....consumer affairs and your liability insurers (assuming you operate your business legally) will start requiring proof of your RRP cert BEFORE they renew your license and policies (yes they are). Now, what about the REAL damage your careless work practices are doing to the kids you poison with lead?? think
@deerhunter1gmail The EPA may not enforce the rule but certified window firms will turn you in and uder EPA whistleblower rules the snitch gets the fine. It's 8 hrs, take course or give up 25% of your customers (those built pre 1978)

What a joke this rule is.
I have been a window installer for 30 years and most homes I have done I have them cleaner after I am done than when I started working on them.
I for one will not do the RRP practice.
They do not have the staff to enforce this and never will I can be in a home and out in a day and never cause any issues.
The sierra club out of New york should stay out of our business and worry about killing trees and animals !!!
