  • @devan465, this is obviously the 747-8F (the cargo version). The 747-8 Intercontinental has a longer upper deck.

  • finally i can sleep peacefully on long flights

  • This is a much better looking aircraft than the 747-8I. Much more in the tradition of 747s from the past. The passenger variant now looks "incomplete" to me, having gone beyond the distinctive hump and only having half an upper deck. The 400series was the best looker and best overall.

  • Anyone else notice the thing hanging from the back of the tail?At :39 and :20 ?

  • A380 interior is nice but he 747-8i is a killer on the outside. :)

  • nice 5/5 amazing aircraft i have in FSX

  • The 747-8 looks similar to a 747-100 because of the short upper deck.

  • amazing!!!

  • more amazing then the A380 ;)

  • amazing!

  • sex on wings

  • Sashman3988 the an-225 IS a cargo plane!

  • That's not the 747-8, you idiot!

  • @dogdays6708 that's the dash 8. look at the new engine and how quite it is..

  • @dogdays6708 Look at the engines, they are cookie-cutter shaped, unlike any other 747.

  • @iceagescrat1

i guess that is for minimize the material and so is the weight. besides that i cant think of any reason for such "saw teeth like" case. but it looks cool too.

  • @andylam73 Actually it's purpose is to make the engines quieter... the new 747 will be bigger, quieter, be more efficient, and have a longer range than the 747-400. The engines do look cool though.

  • @iceagescrat1

yeh it could another reason that i have thought of. thx. but i believe it serves the purpose of minimizing the use of material as well. enjoy the evening.

  • @andylam73 Thanks. Actually it uses different material to for less weight. And if it was another reason that you have thought of, then why does your first comment say you couldn't think of any other reason?

  • @iceagescrat1

i am trying to say that could be another reason( cutting down noise)but i failed to consider. thx for asking. anyway the shape of the engine is real cool and i just love it so much.

  • @andylam73 Yeah, it's a beautiful plane. Sorry if I sounded rude, and and I hope you enjoy your evening as well. :)

  • you'd get the real heat standing there!

  • is this the i or the f

  • @akildegr8 F

  • does anyone no when this aircraft is coming into service.

  • it's engine are much quieter than A380

  • The rake wingtips are much more better-looking than the -400's winglets. Also, it is very silent thanks to cowling advances and the all new GEnx engine from the Dreamliner. I hope to see one someday…

  • Is the B747-8 longer than the A340-600?

  • @TheBadameco 747 8 is the longest airplane in the world even surpassing a380

  • @TheHedgehogPilot no its not

  • @sashman3988 I am assuming you didn't mean antonov 225-mriya. It's a cargo plane

  • @TheHedgehogPilot The antonov-225 is the biggest, A380 is number two, and the 747-800 is the third.

  • @TheHedgehogPilot 747-800 is longer than a380, you can refer anywhere

  • its so quiet...

  • This is 747-2 I think.. but definitely not the 8

  • @readou Have a closer look. 747-8F, does not have extended upper deck (similar to 742). The 747-8 passenger does have a longer extended upper deck than 744. Both freighter and pax versions of the747-8 do not have winglets like 744. This may be what is confusing you

  • @99falc yeah.. I never paid attention to the cargo versions. I love all the 747 passenger versions but 747-8 is just a beauty... can't wait to see it take off in a couple of months

  • @readou no it is the cargo version of the 747-8

  • @readou It is the 747-8

  • Sio much better looking than the ugly 380

  • @kanga1234567 I see you like old men.

  • Huge plane,747 has always been my favorite. Beautiful plane unlike the ugly a380

  • @747777 Let me guess, you´re an American...?

  • @swertinge07 Just because he like the 747 more than the a380 doesn't automatically make him American. im from Europe and i like the 747 more as well

  • @1howcrazy It is they way he puts it. I like the 747 more too. :)

  • @1howcrazy Same thing here, I'm also from Europe, but the 747 is my favorite. Like the old saying, "if it's not Boeing, I'm not going". :)

  • 'new wings' like the 380's really how can you take too much pride? now what ever happened to that dreamliner?

  • The bigger they are, the harder they fall

  • Some planes fan's dont like these engines becuz they love engines that really ROARRR!

  • Man, one of the prototypes that they are testing has been flying around where I live (SoCal, near the former Norton AFB, where they are proceeding with testing) Its pretty damn awesome. We get alot of miltary cargo jets and tankers here near March ARB, then suddenly this gleaming white plane slowly crosses the sky. Its near silent at around 10,000ft, and only lightly perceived on approach. Pretty cool Boeing! Cant wait to see the 8I debut.

  • I LOVEEEEEEE 747-8!!!

I LOVE THIS PLANE MORE THAN ANY GIRL!

  • how about a race between A380 and Boeing 747-8I, it will be the most awesome attraction in the world.

  • i'm betting the -8 will be the next air force one

  • I like how the engines look!

  • @nielscarp same . :/

  • Here we go:

The Battle of Boeing and Airbus:

    Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental

    vs

    Airbus A380-900 (Stretched version)

    Never ending -_-

  • They need to develope an upgrade of 757 too !!!

  • is that 747-8 ? he is look very small...and with one floor only ?

  • @oded999191 Its actaully one and a half floors, This is the cargo version so you cant see the floors clearly.

  • Extremely Quiet Airplane!

  • 747-8 Intercontinental is a Boeing attempts to recapture the market and publicity that before this was heavily focused to Airbus...

  • ok nobody cut my head off, i know a lot more about airbus than boeing...what is the difference between the 747-8 and the -400??

  • @italianluvah83 shape, engines, cockpit, layout, seating, configs and all other things like fuel and weight etc etc

  • it looks like 747-200 to me.. the upper deck seems to be shorter than the 747-400. the only difference b/w this aircraft and 747-200 is the length.. i guess?? i hope the upper deck of the 747-800i is longer than this freighter.

  • its kind of funny how a simple video causes a war of words isnt it?

  • They're currently doing testings on plane in Fresno. Fresno was chosen for testing due to favorable climate and free air space.. They started like a week ago. Every morning I see the 747-400 and then the 747-8 fly across my window dozens of dozens of times; landing and taking off.. landing and taking off.... It's pretty out of the ordinary since it's so massive.

  • beautiful @ 0:34. great angle! you can see the engine blades turning slowly.

    the a380 is impressive.

    the 747-8 is gorgeous.

i understand that the a380 is economically more attractive.....but the 747-8 is so pretty!!! the engines, the wings, the proportions

aside from plane economics, i understand that a big variable is airport economics. i.e. how many planes a runway can handle per unit time.

turbulent wake of the a380 is massive = large distance between landings

    how does the 747-8 compare?

  • is this one bigger?

  • Jesus thats small

  • When I was younger I always worried about there not being the 747 when my children were older, I have a one year old little boy now and I'm happy that he will grow up and still fly the 747, maybe his own children will too.

  • @tonightwefly

You actually worried about that wow.

  • "move your head mister"

  • She's so sexy!

I can't believe how quiet she is. Just amazing.

  • This Boeing 747-8 is way better than Airbus A380-800. It is quiet, bigger, and longer! And don't forget; stylish wings! I hope she replaces the Airbus A380-800. Good luck Boeing 747-8. I hope no 1st time crashes.

  • @Skulker2797 quite unlikely, but i do think the 747-8 is the nicest looking variant of the 747!

  • @Skulker2797..Yes, agreed it's a pretty aircraft but airlines buy functional ones. As it stands it looks like a 400 series with a makeover and it's clear Boeing has not invested a lot in the upgrade. The A380 by contrast is wholly new, is state of the art, has a lot more cabin space and therefore better design options for the airlines when buying. In terms of orders, the B747-8 is lagging behind significantly. Maybe Boeing's best option is to sell as many freighters as possible. No A380F yet.

  • @Dartagnyn "As it stands it looks like a 400 series with a makeover"

You'd probably think a Subaru WRX STi looks like an Impreza with a makeover too.

  • @korrdavl Your statement is like comparing chalk and cheese. The development costs in the motor trade differ significantly with those of the aerospace industry. So of course the latest WRX has to look and perform better than the Mk1 version and, of course. the Impreza before that. Otherwise, why bother with a new one. Owners change cars more frequently than airlines change their fleets. The dynamics are wholly different aren't they.

But the vast majority of people will see the B747-8 as a 747..

  • @korrdavl it's clearly superior of course with improved aerodynamics and wing design, notwithstanding the use of lighter weight materials etc. It's engines are more fuel efficient and less noisy. But aside from the increase in length and payload, it's still the same elegant lady that flew all those years ago. Trouble is, the A380 exceeds it in pretty much every category that's important to the airlines. That's why it has orders from only 2 airlines, totalling 25 aircraft (aside from Boeing's 8)

  • with the A380, the 747 has no future.

  • The A350-1000 (the largest version of the A350) will be the world's biggest two engine plane. As the majority of flights operated by the 747 carry less than 400 passengers... the A350-1000 is to be an alternative to the 747 as it will be able to carry 440 passengers on two engines.

  • Hi i am dutch and live in Amsterdam did anyone notice this plane rocks! But the Airbus A380 is still bigger whit passenger flights. And he landed a week ago on Schiphol Amsterdam ( EHAM)!

  • do any of you notice the small dot that was always behind the tail. (top)

  • @CaNxYoUxStoP: It is a camera towed behind the aircraft (used on test flights).

  • @sidesporran2000 it has raked wingtips instead. those are said to be more effective than winglets

  • omg the new boeing models are so quiet. nice work guys!

  • take that piece of shit failbus a380..... 747 forever 40 years old and still innovative

  • This is the freighter plane lol

  • i am fine with both airbus and boeing as long as it does not crash

  • Nice but needs the winglets

  • @sidesporran2000 Actually, the 747-400's winglets did not make any difference to the performance of the aircraft. The gains from reducing the induced drag (Wingtip vortices) were writtten off by the increase in form drag from the winglets. Boeing just kept them on so it looked different from the -300. Notice the 747-400F doesn't have winglets.

  • JUST PASSED TO ONE MILLION POUND FLIGHT TEST AT SCLA VICTORVILLE CA

  • At 1:02....stunning!

They can build every type of plane from now. Not one of them will be as good as a 747!

  • @GBNLE I liked the B787 but the problem is that the plane has quite a short range. But now, got the 747-8 lol which is bigger with a longer range and has the similar engine as the 787 concept

  • Wonderfull, beautifull!

  • Beautiful. What's that thing hanging from the tailfin?

  • @brenswee dunno, they use it on test flights

  • That plane looks great, and I want one. Airbus can suck on it! Hahhaha!

  • @MySkyisClear 787 is the one to watch. Airbus A380 is around 15% more economical per passenger vs 747, so Boeing are sucking on it at the mo.

Still you are right it is a lovely looking aircraft and hats off to both manufacturers!

  • @brettv8 lol didnt mean it in a bad way. im a bigger boeing fan and im planning on trying to work there after college. and yea i saw the 787 looks great too.

  • @MySkyisClear You are fortunate to be in a location where that is an option! It would be a privilege to work for a company like that. Good luck, study hard and things are sure to go your way.

  • @brettv8 thank you

  • That must be the cargo version

  • What a great American Achievement thanks to Boeing. :)

  • that sexy thang can go 600 mph LOL

  • holy cow that is quiet!!!

  • im not much of a boeing but long live 747

  • take that airbus

  • @budw84 It is indeed longe than the Airbus A380-800 but unfortunatley Airbus are producint a longer A380-900 which is 79m long, 3 metres longer than the 747-8 making it the longest passenger airliner, also Airbus might release an even bigger A380-1000 with a full length of 85m or more, making it 1m longer than the AN-225, They might need to extend the wings for that version (If they make it) which will possibly make the planned A380-1000 the worlds biggest plane.

  • long live the queen of the skies!

  • this plus the 787 - they're pumping them out like sausages...

  • great video, great quality great aircraft!! 5*

  • This is a fantastic video. The plane looks wonderful. I know that the freighter versions often look a little different.

  • it didn't have winglets, and looked very different to the boeing promo of the 7478

  • that's sweet

  • That definitely IS a 747-800

  • This is not the 747-8.The new 747-800 has curved wings

  • yes it is, noob name me another company capable of producing a commercial airliner in the United States.

  • that plane is soo quiet

  • This is the new generation of planes I think

  • Yes it is a 748, but the freighter has a little upper deck

  • this isn't the 748, this is a 742!

  • are you a person from 1980's??

  • @ekWagonn no, but I saw a picture of the 748 with a larger second floor

  • @MrArthiom this is a 748

  • It's sooo Beautiful ! ! !

    A340-600 is longest Airliner!

    747-8 is Longest Freighter!

  • Calm down you guys, its just a new jumbo jet that took on the legacy of its predecessors and its new rival, there's nothing to be angry about.

  • most quiet 747 i ever heard

  • @boeingfan882 the engine concept is same as the B787

  • @boeingfan882 its new tecnolagy

  • @boeingfan882 Thanks exactly what I said, the small plane was just as loud as the jet if not louder.

  • @boeingfan882 Those are the dreamliner enines on the 747-8.

  • @boeingfan882 I read that on the engines there are these curved art-stylish things at the back of the engine that reduces the sound of the engins.

    e

  • thats quiet. i wana see one real life

  • Wonderful to see this great achievement. I am a very big fan of 747s and indeed all Boeing planes.

  • @cattleman6420012000 ARE 747-8'S PASSENGER OR FREIGHTER PLANE?

  • @markkloplepol both, there is a passenger version named 747-8i intercontinental or the 747-8f freighter version, someone correct me if im wrong but i think the only 747-8 thats actually been made is the 747-8f i dont think work has started on the 747-8i.

  • @TomTomSingAlong oh, the 747-8i from what i know will be in service either late 2010 or just next year

  • @markkloplepol It's both, first there is the B747-8F (Freighter) and the B747-9I (Intercontinental)

  • @cattleman6420012000 What achievement? Taking the blueprint of a very very old design and making it bigger? :)

  • @aromchuen I find this fascinating. I have travelled enormously on 747s.

  • @aromchuen I have respect for both Boeing and Airbus. I personally think that Boeing were wise to update this older design. They are also producing newly designed planes. Considering all that is going on, this is indeed a big achievement.

  • This is the best plane!!! I love soooo much this beauty !! Go Boeing !

  • Boeing is the best of the best!

  • HELL YEAH!!! i beeen waiting for this day. it looks spectacular, awesome, elegant etc.. it doesnt look fat ans short li A380.. AMERICAN MUSCLE, cant wait to see when arrives at JFK airport

  • exactly right, although the A380 is still nice, it looks like it's just Boeing trying-hard to be. At least to me and the engineers at Boeing, the A380 is really nothing surprising, just another jumbo that took on the legacy of the 747. Airbus takes too much pride in their piece of shit

  • Airbus hasn't created their own design, instead they just react to every bit of Boeing's legacy.

And half-assed at that. Their planes don't have the same range, or capacity as a boeing. Airbus is simply secondrate.

  • The Queen of the skies is back!!! Boeing rules!!! fuck off Airbus

  • calm down...

  • Comment removed

  • awesome! fuck the A380 no airport wants that fatass plane.

  • very nice plane.

  • Comment removed

  • You haven't a clue. Vulgar belligerence is obviously your forte. When you do some research into what you refer to, then post a comment with more than a grade school vocabulary..The 47 is superior in design and looks. Period. Regardless of what your intellectual response states. LOL

  • @edmonton67 asthetics is a matter of opinion period! THE END

  • @whitireia , that's because it's the freighter version. The passenger version has the bigger top deck, and it looks better proportioned.

  • Screw the A380. This thing is probably the worlds quietest widebody plane!! The pilots of the first flight said they were very astonished to see they burned even less fuel than they predicted! Same cocpit as the 787 too! I'm surprised this airplane doesn't have at least 500 orders to replace the older one. I'm sure after the plane gets delivered, it would easily surpass the A380. And I don't care what anyone thinks, the 747 will always be the queen of the skys!

  • IT doesn't have 500 orders to replace the older version of the 747 because there isn't a reason to replace them! THe 747-400 is a sturdy bird, and still has a long life.

  • Oh, I was actually talking about the -100, -200 and -300 cargo airliners. Your right. The 747-400 is still kindof considered new.

  • Yeah right. Wake up. Ever heard about the 380?

  • @cmtenuno yeah, i heard about the A380, and all I can say is "if it aint boeing, i aint going", airbus sucks, stupid joystick

  • Who wants to fly in a plane that looks like a beached whale, or an ugly duckling? And only Airbus is so arrogant to believe that the rest of the WORLD will UPGRADE THEIR AIRPORTS TO HANDLE THEM. SORRY AIRBUS! Only a handful of airports have. Last and not least, most of your cargo will fly ON 747's, because AIRBUS CAN'T MAKE A FREIGHTER of the A380. TOO HEAVY.

  • Although you have a good point, Airbus can expect the world to change airport configurations to handle the A380. They did the same thing with the A330 and its huge wing.

  • @eskercurve well the airports have to accomadate the 787 also because it needs three external power ports to start the engines if the apu is inop. Im not certain but I think it needs three for more than this situation.

  • Only wish the video was done more professionally...not so cool to have the camera postioned in such a mannor so we have to look at the back of some guys head struggling to see this new bird climbing up...Hope there is better video to come....

May this great airplane, built on the success of the 747-100 and all its successors, recapture the deserving title of "queen of the skys" And may it remain built right where it belongs in Everett Washington .

  • It still is. The A380 is the "Sausage of the Skys!" haha
